I could spew out so many adjectives for that place and yet they all fall short. Thank you for your passion for capturing natures beauty and sharing it with us. This is truly a special place.
The uncertainty about whether it was going to be worth sticking it out through the crummy weather or not followed by the once-in-a-lifetime beauty of those clouds breaking up over the rocks! Thanks for sticking it out and sharing those breathtaking moments with us all.
I thought I recognized that spot you were camping at, and then you mentioned that right above you was where you almost lost your camera. Great camera work as always. Just like the wind that really blew me away.
Hi Eric and Kristi wow this is the best video that I have watched so far! It's not the view, it's not the photography it's you and Kristi living life together! Cherish these moments my wife and I have been doing it for 50 years it never gets old to have a laugh with each other! All the best.
Great video! Looks like an amazing place to camp❤❤❤. Bummer about the mattress. Hopefully if you get worn out enough you can sleep even if the ground is hard.
22:46 Kristi, AMAZING footage! Great job! Absolutely spectacular! 9:44 Eric, you'll probably never duplicate this one! That's a time-lapse for the records. Be sure you have that one well backed up! Fantastic. Holy smokes you guys. You've outdone yourselves on this one. Bravo!
I JUST put patches in my first aid kit for mesh/tent floor/and pads and this video makes me happy I did! Also…this is seriously epic and it’s been on my bucket list to go to Patagonia forever, but this made me want to go SO MUCH more!
Been enjoying your Patagonia series Eric. You two make a great team, puts a smile on my face to see two people out there together enjoying what they do. Looking forward to the next one!
Your wife is awesome!! Girl I’d be beat after that hike, too. If we had to stay in for 12 hours that wouldn’t be all bad. Give me a chance to rest up b4 the climb out.. ❤ Love your videos with Kristi, keep em coming!!
I’m sipping my Yerba mate and really enjoying your video! You had great weather for viewing the massif, and shared incredible images. Sorry about the equipment experiences, perhaps you were overwhelmed by the view. 😅. Please keep making more videos like this. Your equipment reviews are super helpful, but these go well beyond that. Hopefully I’m not a niche demographic!
I do love making videos like this, so I appreciate the encouragement! While the gear focused videos tend to do better, I prefer making these style of videos. Glad you enjoy them!
@ sir that was a solid 10/10. I’m rehabbing from foot surgery but watch you normally when on my treadmill. Love all you’re doing showing us old timers what kinda beauty is actually out there. Also smart man listening to your wife concerning the camp site move. I’ve learned on more than one occasion to listen to the practical side of my wife when she speaks. Keep up your he great work. Thank you.
What a challenging, amazing, breathtaking, crazy and fun vid! You and Kristi are an amazing, adventurous couple . . . so enjoyable to watch! Please don't ever stop producing such great videos!
❤🎉Amazing video and truly enjoyable!!! God bless Kristy, she's got ur 6, Eric!! I laughed with you on the drool scene!! The challenging bits are just gonna make excellent memories for you both!!! Love your sweater, Kristy, looks beautiful on you! Thanks for sharing guys, God bless !!!!😊❤
I think it's among the most impressive and wild places on the planet. I love it soo much too! And yeah, the Big Guy was shinin' his light on those mountains alright!
WOW, just WOW, what a beautiful place. Thank you for staying the extra day and sharing such amazing photos and for sharing the oops while in the backcountry. Thanks for keeping it real, that was amazing.
My sleeping pad had a slow-ish leaking while on a motorcycle trip this summer with my son. After a night or two of him getting woke up every 90 minutes or so by my flextail mini air pump, he somewhat forcefully arranged for me to use his pad while he slept on all our spare clothes. Always nice to have my kind son along :)
My sleeping pad guess, at 6:50: it will hold air with a very slow leak in the parts where the patches overlap. Assuming you give the most amount of time you can for the adhesive to set before blowing the pad up. That's my guess. (I've been absolutely loving this video series, even more more than usual)
@ I have been to Patagonia, yes. I did the circuit O - so many highlights: the rock scramble to las Torres South, Central and North. The Gardner Pass - breathtaking! The Grey Glacier 🤩. Seeing a Condor, the Lenticular clouds, a fox. Unforgettable and grateful to have been there. Your video is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing it.
4:00 My first night of my first ever thru hike on the Ouachita Trail here in Arkansas, back in November of 2022, the overnight low was in the 20s, so I decided to sleep with my CNOC in my sleep system, but instead of putting it in my footbox like any sensible person would have done, I put it alongside my body. When I got up to pee in the night, I accidentally pressed the clip on the top of the CNOC into the sleeping pad and POP! So much for comfortable sleep. A buddy drove out to bring me a spare, so I was carrying two pads with me for a couple of days. I tried to patch it when I got to a resupply at a state park, and thought I got it fixed, but it never held air right no matter how I tried to fix it. To their credit, Nemo replaced it with an upgrade, but I had several uncomfortable nights on trail. I should also note that even with a deflated pad, I was reasonably warm. I was just sleeping on hard ground. This spurred my entry into hammocking, but there aren't always options for hanging a hammock.
Epic trip, Eric! Thanks for sharing! I hope I will make it Patagonia one day. I just got back from a short, not so epic trip, where my bag got caught in my tent zipper, just like Kristi's. I will never go out without Tenacious Tape again!
I thought the same thing! Although I think the vast majority of those were actually satellites. Still crazy to me how much is in our skies ever over the most remote parts of our planet.
Beautiful views, unparalled! Thanks for sticking it out in wild weather for those shots. Re yer mattress and quilt: Gorilla duct tape is great for emergency patches. I keep a small roll on a chap stick tube. Duct tape, bailing wire and zip ties hold the broken parts of the world together.
I agree! We work pretty well together! Kristi was in charge of the Canon 5D and 100-500 mm RF lens. I mostly used the 5D Mark II and the 15-35 RF lens.
@@kristirauckis Don’t feel too bad, Eric was looking like an 80’s pop star with his sand/sunscreen makeup and flock of seagulls hair. U guys r great. Look forward to meeting y’all at Banff this summer. Keep up the great work!
There's no denying Kristi is a trooper! She handled all the wind and rough weather like a champ. And as for the drool scene, well, she agreed it's too funny not to share!
Beautiful video! 👏 I hope that the customer service from zenbivy is better for you than it is for us regular Joe's 😅 if you have to send anything to them...
Great video. Years of repairing punctures tells me that multiple patches overlapping always results in a slow puncture. I always carry tent repair tape, that might have worked.
So did you end up making a bed of clothes or something? I once forgot my pad and had to make a mattress out of leaves. I don't see any leaves where you are. Excellent shots, you two. Cheers!
This is the second hiking video I’ve watched this weekend where the hiker got a hole in his pad. All I can think is: “I thought we all agreed we’d carry Leuko tape and have duct tape wrapped around our trekking poles?” WHAT AN EPIC TRIP!
Great video! I loved those sunset and sunrise shots of Fitz Roy. I'm curious what you did with your gear when you two were camping for multiple days. I'm going to el chalten in March and i'm worried about my car getting broken into and my luggage and extra gear being stolen. What would you reccomend?
I agree here. We always felt safe. We definitely left valuables in our rental car. I don't know what other options you'd have to be honest, but I think you'd be fine.
Stunning camping spot, but geez Eric, it's almost like you've never done this before! 😂 Hopefully, Zen Bivy can repair the sleeping bag. I'm not sure about the pad, though. It looks done.
You're doing a fantastic job! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
This series is a work of Art! Great job to you both. Your time-lapse was pure magic.
I could spew out so many adjectives for that place and yet they all fall short. Thank you for your passion for capturing natures beauty and sharing it with us. This is truly a special place.
I feel the same way about this place!
The uncertainty about whether it was going to be worth sticking it out through the crummy weather or not followed by the once-in-a-lifetime beauty of those clouds breaking up over the rocks! Thanks for sticking it out and sharing those breathtaking moments with us all.
Absolutely amazing video Eric! Blown away with the campsite, the storyline, and of course the terrain and light!
I thought I recognized that spot you were camping at, and then you mentioned that right above you was where you almost lost your camera. Great camera work as always. Just like the wind that really blew me away.

Wow, "spectacular" and "fantastic" really don't do it justice at all.
I love that the two of you keep your sense of humor!

Thank you!!! Learning the art of film has been such a blast these days! It was an insane trip 🙌🏻
Thank you so much! Yeah, Kristi is an artist, so she has pretty effortlessly been a great filmmaker. I like working with her (if you can't tell)
I JUST put patches in my first aid kit for mesh/tent floor/and pads and this video makes me happy I did! Also…this is seriously epic and it’s been on my bucket list to go to Patagonia forever, but this made me want to go SO MUCH more!
That's a good call! I was kicking myself big time as I normally pack a real patch kit. Anyway, Patagonia is the best! You'll love it!
Love that you stuck it out through all the unexpected problems. Such an epic site!

Even though I didn't sleep much, this still goes down as my favorite backpacking trip ever!
Great video, the cloud colors were incredible! What a memerable adventure for you both. Good torture test for the Nemo Dagger, wow.
We'll remember that one for a long time! I'm not sure my Nemo tent will forgive me though. The brow pole is completely toast!
That time-lapse sequence was amazing.

21:46 Makes one wonder if your lungs will pay a price from that fine particulate granite being suspended in the air... :(
That's pretty rough! Sleeping right one the ground is not fun. Sooner or later these kinds of things happen.
That's possible. I was more worried about the down feathers suspended in air that we breathed in!
Great video. As usual. Absolutely stunning place. Soo envious!
Thank you! Patagonia is pretty ridiculous.
Probably my favorite film we’ve made to date. I love it so much - even the drool… and especially you.
This is definitely my favorite. Most epic location, trials and tribulations, and a wonderful partner to suffer through it with!

Years of repairing punctures tells me that multiple patches overlapping always results in a slow puncture. I always carry tent repair tape, that might have worked.
I normally carry a proper patch kit like Gear Aid, I couldn't believe I had forgotten to pack it the time I actually needed it!
The word smithing was impressive this go around 😂. Great vid!

We had no issue with this 🙌🏻 our extra gear and luggage for three weeks was in our car while we were out for 4 nights. It’s a pretty safe place!
@@kristirauckis That's great to hear, my biggest worry about going to Patagonia and backpacking was leaving gear behind in a rental car.

Yes it will work.
Laguna Sucia isn't exactly unknown, I imagine most people (including myself) just assumed camping there wasn't allowed at all.
Yeah I know the lake itself is pretty famous. But there aren't any indicators that you can camp there and without the locals, I'd never have known!
Hopefully those feathers are BPA free 😂🤣😂. A night to remember.
haha! Yeah I might've ingested some undesirable chemicals. Oops!
Wow 😮just WOW 🎉
not too shabby eh?!
What camera setup are you using to film this?
Did you double check it's really legal to camp there? 😅
Yes! It worked
A nother job for rainy pass gear repair. To fix sleeping pad down quilt.
Tenacious tape has saved my bacon a couple few times 😂
I almost always carry some Gear Aid or Tenacious Tape, and I was kicking myself for not packing it!
It WILL NOT HOLD
But where did all the boulders come from?..
Tumbled from the mountain tops, ground up under glaciers, and deposited by retreating glaciers over the last few million years.
Are you giving away a local secret?? Some things are better left unsaid
i think it will work very short term, with that said I’ll still claim my prize
Gave up half way through. Looks beautiful, but I hate having unnecessary subtitles forced on me.
🙂🙂🙂🙂
Freedom
I'm confident it works lol
Zenbivi fail! I knew they were overated cant even take a hit 😆😆😆
I was here before the correct title was 🤔
Duct tape fixes anything lol
haha, I do admire duct tape for it's abilities but I don't feel confident it would make an airtight seal with pressure.
@ duct tape was more for the quilt but try heating the tape who knows it might work in a pinch
No.
Maybe?
