FYI: You missed reading some of the codex entries like the ones at the very top of the section that don't blink because you automatically open them. When you start ME2, they give you nearly all the codex entries from this game at the very beginning so you may want to scroll through them for any ones that you missed. Don't worry, they give you new ones as you play ME2.
I love that everyone's freaking out that you're going to kill Kirrahe (because you're obviously going to kill Ashley) but they're well behaved enough to not outright spoil that, merely suggest you send the most qualified with Kirrahe. So when you choose Ashley and they freak out, you think they're freaking out about Ashley and not Kirrahe.
Seems you misinterpreted Ash's background - like way too many people. She's not really racist, she simply believes that each species looks out for their own first and foremost. And in all honesty - she's right about that. Think about is as governments of real world countries - they look out for their own country first and foremost. Have a look at the USA - the amount of countries the USA have invaded and bombed into oblivion just to benefit the US economy is staggering (this includes the invasion of Iraq in the second Gulf war btw - that invasion had no other foundation or goal other than to increase business opportunities for US corporations and giving the USA more control over Iraq's oil reserves). This was an action that definetly did not benefit the Iraqi people, only the USA. That's what Ashley is talking about: If push comes to shove each species has their own interests in mind over the interests of the other species. Humanity is not different - with the exception of humanity saving the Council humanity as a political entity is always pushing for humanity's goals, ignoring the interests of other species. That even goes so far as humanity forcibly annexing a planet the Batarians had terraformed for decades for colonization (that's the reason why the Batarians dislike humans so much btw). If you think about it from this angle: Is that really racism? Or just acknowledgement of political reality?
Normally I'd be the one saying "that's not really racist", I do think it's overused sometimes, or perhaps just not that big of a deal in certain cases (I can say that, I'm mixed race :D), but...that's not the case here. Imagine someone said "Guys, relax, it's not racist. The white race just looks out for itself. We whites have to stick together". ...I'm gonna go ahead and call that racist. Like, I get what you're saying, but it's still racism, just with a government backing.

In regards to if the clue about Soverign is intentional, yes it is. You saw him looking the same back on Eden Prime as well, assuming you look up.
Wow, she knows about great filter hypothesis! She is smart, beautifull and plays games) dream girl)
