This was a ridiculous defense from Ding and I was on the edge of my seat the entire endgame. People that are calling it boring must not understand tension in the game. I'm willing to bet some of them just skip to the end result and see "draw". Considering how this game went, it has been the best game so far in the match for me. That's coming from a neutral fan that likes both players.
Tbh it's a disappointing production at all in Singapore, the playing room, the uncomfortable players rooms, the table, the chess board, the lighting in the room, the camera angles. the broadcasting picture quality and sound engineering. And even the press conference has one laptop where the players have to tilit around to watch the moves. All are disappointing and not up to the matter of the event.
Also there shouldn't be photographers and arbiters moving around the players in the playing room, and the pre game speach and guest making the first move is so annoying to the players and most likely taking them out of their focus.
It seems to me that Ding struggles to focus, while Gukesh doesn't have this kind of weakness. Is it possible that no one has ever thought of working on this weakness of Ding's? How can someone play chess, or even just prepare a coffee if their head is foggy? I don't know... Apart from all the valid chess considerations, has anyone ever felt Ding's mental torpor more than their own? He moves in slow motion... They should help him with this before strategy or tactics, because in a half-awake state you can be very strong but you won't accomplish much. Besides this, he lacks a "predatory" instinct. Hunting the king, even if you're not catching a gazelle like a feline, is still a hunt. When you start, it's to achieve checkmate - defeat and draw are perfectly normal, but they shouldn't be contemplated at the start. Have you seen the eyes of a tiger, a panther, or even a wolf - either hypervigilant or sleepy after they've focused on "their personal checkmate"? They wouldn't pounce any other way. There's no negative connotation here, it's not about predating anyone, but about aspiring, targeting, starting and sustaining the chase until the goal without rest to reach it or get as close as possible. I respect Ding's character traits: we all have weaknesses of various kinds and types. It's human, I'd say. I just think that in chess, which is effectively a hunt for the king, and only secondarily becomes a defensive maneuver to achieve a draw, you don't start well with other ideas in mind besides the prey (the king). Without a dose of healthy aggression. Healthy - the wolf doesn't say "I hate you" to the lamb. It does what's in its nature. And I struggle to think of a chess player too focused on disarmament. This isn't an apology for war, war is stupid, but no one is waging war here (we'd be talking about revenge and cruelty inherent in the concept of war, not about a natural aggression linked to survival). Chess survival; because it doesn't seem easy to survive at the top of the chess "food chain."
Huh! 😮💨 It's ok he's young and is under pressure, nvm I was expecting a lot from him, idk what exactly must be going on in his mind, but it's ok he's an incredible player 😊!! [Gukesh]
This is why Chess will never be an Olympic sport. If you have trouble sleeping, throw out your sleeping pills. Just listen to Ding speak for more than one minute.and you'll be snoring away in no time.
It is understandable as English is not his first language. He finds it difficult to frame sentences that's why he speaks slowly. When he speaks in Mandarin he speaks fast. That's not the case with Gukesh because in India English is a compulsory subject in good schools

The fact that Ding is just happy drawing this messy game and he is so happy that he is controlling his laugh during the post game interview
How can you have such a trash audio quality for the hosts in an event like this, FIDE?

Damn I thought it was my iPad, and was wondering why

I pointed out first day that there is too much EQing and compression. It is pretty sad when my recording are better. lol
As an audio engineer I can agree, this is a bad production. And a bad mix.
Fide please improve the mic quality and the latency
All is well that *ends* well - go Ding!
Turn the mics up plz
Less EQ and compression on the vocals. Too muffled.
Gukesh looked exhausted before the game.. Commentators hinting Richard Rapport should have encouraged Gukesh to rest and get a good night's sleep.
6:17:38 This man😂
These two will bore you to dead.
Ah congrats on following the world chess championship for the first time
Maybe OTB chess is not your game pal. Try boxing or F1.
This is a no spolier coment,
please like!
Ding giving up the H pawn, i think, was a terrible idea!
Bro Ding wins this championship

Ding is Chinese & speaks multiple languages. Are you fluent in a 2nd language?
I can't really notice much difference, when he's speaking Chinese he says more words but still as slow and lifelessly
Wait till bro finds out about the Olympiad
It should never be an Olympic sport chess is better than those trash
Boring, frankly.
You are bored because... you're boring!
