Earl commentating is GREAT! Its hilarious, informed, and just generally makes me laugh!! I'd watch a match he commentated on PURELY for the sake of listening to him. Earl, you're THE MAN
Pool announcing has gotten better since Earl calling the shots. Good to hear about Shane Van Boening......I used to watch him play when he was a kid in Rapid City, South Dakota and I knew he was going to be something great then.
I could listen to Earl all day everyday! We are blessed to be able to hear shot by shot on how the best ever to do it is thinking. Earl thank you!! Looking forward to more matches with Earl.
Haha. "I had a lot of problems with the front office." Not surprised there. An a-hole when playing, an a-hole when dealing with the 'Front Office' about commentating pool. Earl 'the angry Pearl' will never change. Funny guy and an a-hole at the same time. That A-hole arrogance is what made him such a strong player.
I agree. I love Earl commentary. They are entertaining, funny and on point with most shots. Whilw watching pro games I often wonder where they are hitting the cue ball and Esrl makes it easy. Great job!
Just loving Earl's commentating. As one of the goats of pool, he is confident enough to call all the shots (usually right on point but even when they are different from what the players did, Earl is not shy of holding his ground).
Earl is excellent. He tells you what spin they use which is great from a commentator and he’s arguably the best player ever to play . I’d listen and watch all day. Cheers mr Strickland 🇮🇪🤙🏼
Earl your the best commentator I’ve ever heard! I can understand what the pros are going to shoot from your input! Earl’s right about how slow Gorst plays. All tournaments should have a 30” clock!
@@CuriosityCircuit2024 I think you're correct, but it also wears down the patience of the audience, assuming they even have one. I think Earl is correct that slow play is one of the things that has made pool so unpopular as a spectator sport. I understand pauses in certain situations, and sometimes the pauses increase the drama a bit, or give us a chance to think about the layout, but the snail's pace players are unwatchable.
These two young men are extraordinary, not only for their amazing skill and composure at the young age of 22 but also because of their character. Zielinski seemed both embarrassed and feeling a little bad about how he won the match which goes to his character and then, in one of the nicest moments I've seen in sports, Fedor gets up from his chair smiling and goes over and consoles Zielinski by patting him on the head - how amazing is this kid!
They both played well. More importantly, they both broke well consistently. And what a way to finish the game🤣🤣 and Earl's words just add an extra flavour to the game
I enjoyed Earls comments, especially cue ball position and spin, I play Texas 8 ball about 10 hrs a week with 3 friends and Earls analysis will help my game.
The problem isn't that Gorst plays slow, it's that there's no shot clock in this tournament. Gorst is a former world champion and has been winning a lot recently in other tournaments that utilize a shot clock, so he CAN play fast with the same success, but if he doesn't have to, why would he? All pro tournaments should have a shot clock for rotation games.
@@s98715 - I'm aware. I didn't say his world championship had a shot clock. I said he's a former world champion (meaning he's a world elite player) and he's been winning tournaments recently that have shot clocks, so he obviously can play fast if need be.
@@Girthquake98 - It was because lots of guys win regular events with shot clocks, not many guys win world titles, too. To specifically point out that Gorst is a "boring" player in these events that don't have a clock is misleading to the fact he can win world titles with no shot clock, he can win events with shot clocks... it doesn't matter. Some guys can't do that. That's why it's relevant.
Earl is just pissed when players want to get perfect on every shot and not just shoot in the approximate vicinity and then trying to shoot yourself out of the crappy position.
This is my 1st time listening Earl commenting a pool match. It's great. He is funny though. Can't wait his next coming show and keep staying healthy, Earl.
34:16 Can someone explain why hitting right side spinning for this shot? Cuz when I add inside/outside spin, I normally offset in a similar way, I aim a bit thicker. So how does right side spin in this scenario help with creating more angle for the cue ball to come back? Also isn't right side spin gonna reduce the momentum of cue ball once touch the rail in this shot?
"Three consecutive fouls is loss of game." LOL - that's a rule that only Earl Strickland would stand up and take notice of. He's like, "Crap - I only have two now?" I love Mr. Strickland. :)
I watched this match Live and remembered how smooth and deliberate Wiktor's stroke is. And how fast he plays. They all have a smooth stroke but his is very noticeable,,maybe because he is so tall?
Earl, you freakin lunatic... how's it feel to be so loved? Lol haha. The pool world would be a much sadder place w/o you, Jesus loves you brother, and so do we! Stay humble.
Great match. These two are incredible shooters. And Earl and Alex are the only ones that call SVB "Shane Van Boeing". They never say it right. Not sure why Earl refuses to pronounce his name properly.
Wonder if Earl was dubbed The Pearl because Steinbeck's classic novella. . . read or listen to the audiobook. The prize big bonker of a pearl Kino finds brings him nothing but grief.
Us amateurs leave long hard shots that seem easy because they are straight in. But these shots are something the Pros do not like at all. After we mis these shots our confidence goes down and it snowballs from there. For no good reason,,lol.
True but long shots are pretty easy when straight if the ball is not near the cushion. And i dont mean they easy easy i just mean u can get rly good at knocking those long shots but when u close to cushion its rly hard and even potting machines like filler and shaw plays safe on those shot
The polish name Zieliński is pronounced ‘zelensky’. He is saying it right. Wiktor’s name is Slavic and in Russia and Ukraine it is Зелинский, same as Zelenski
It is always better when a real champion is making the commentary, rather than those unqualified experts wannabe, who have not won any tournament. Earl you can retire and make a great living as a commentator for every tournament.
"Pay attention to this shot... he's gonna hit it with left, I mean right. Did ya see what he did there? He hit it with right, I mean left and drew it back. He used a little bit of low left, or right." lmao....
I don't think so, Fedor is more of a methodical player, he sticks to his discipline and checks the angle on the next ball as part of his routine, no matter how "easy" it feels.
Both played perfectly, the winner was decided by the lag, basically. Earl is hilarious, lmao, you almost want him to retire earlier and focus solely on the commentary.

Earl does the best commentary and it's educational. Earl and Scott Frost are both great.
35:20 "He's acting like he is gonna have a baby but he is alright. These guys are really dramatic these days." 😂😂 Earl always gets me!
Genius…
Haha! The Pearl is one of a kind.

20 seconds. Maybe 40 seconds for the first shot. Even 20 seems too much. I'd prefer 15. 9 ball is too simple to take so long.
In fairness, to Earl 99.99% of pro players are slow. Being slow is not illegal, it took patience out of your opponent

It's the little things in between shots from Earl. Best ever!

How are they not using a rack? Just new felt so they're able to freeze them?
