Finidi George appointed new Super Eagles head coach

- The Nigeria Football Federation has appointed Finidi George as new
Super Eagles head coach, with the former international beating
Emmanuel Amuneke to the job.
George spent 20 months as an assistant to Jose Santos Peseiro who left
the post after the AFCON tournament. He took charge of the squad on an
interim basis during two friendly matches in Morocco last month.
George’s immediate task will be to guide the Super Eagles to victory
in two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and
Benin Republic in June.
Nigerian football journalist Oma Akatugba weighs in on the appointment.

Good decision. We should all support him. Amuneke has not had any activity in the past few years and License wise, I think Finidi is most qualified
Finidi did not beat Amuneke to the Job. The NFF is under seige by a cabal that includes Eguavoen, Ikpeba, Amaju Picknic that for some unknown reasons dont want Amuneke to be fully incharge of the super eagles. We ought to have tested Finidi's capacity with the golden eaglets or flying eagles. The cabal is so strong that they threatened the minister with possible FIFA santions if his choice of Amuneke is imposed on them .
Just stop this your conspiracy theories. Finidi is the coach now so let's support him. Amunike could not qualify U20 or 23 for the world cup on his last job here.
@@sammie4989 Has Finidi attempted qualifying under 20 and under 23 for world cup before he is given the super eagles Job? What conspiracy? it is obvious the cabal bullied the sports minister not to force Amuneke on them because NFF can protest to FIFA the same way Samuel Eto did in Cameroon. Time will tell whether the NFF will succeed with their choice . But at least the government can absolve themselves of any blame or interference.

What credentials do Amuneke have to show when you have someone who has been with the boys for months and you want to bring a coach that will start again ......please just leave football for football people.
