3v3 really suffers from not having individual health bars... you can put in your teammates with more confidence if it's literally the only choice, and the risk reward would make more sense
If it was like king of fighters, each player gets to play when the person before them loses it would have been interesting, to me at least, this mode has no appeal at all
@@pedrito890 decrease everyone's individual health to be lower than strives base, extend the timer out a bit. it's a match with 6 people it should take longer than one with 2
Honestly, the biggest issue for me is that it isn’t couch playable. A team battle (where you’re all actively involved together) sounds like one hell of a fun mode to play with friends, even if they aren’t all that good at GGST. I could especially see it as an intermission break during tournaments like evo. But the way they’ve designed it makes it very inconvenient. So I’d rather they redesign certain things to make it possible on one screen
Exactly. The idea is solid, but it's like they went out of their way to fumble the execution on every front. As it is, I really don't know who this mode is for.
My main points for 3v3 would be: -seperate health bars would be good, but that's a very fundamental change. Generally a health buff would probably be good seeing as three people now die inside with every pot buster. -abilities should be on slightly shorter cooldowns and/or not reset (fully) between rounds. So many matches end before I get to use a skill. -team leader should rotate with each match in a set. That way everyone can for sure get a turn as the main fighter or pass if they do wanna be support. That said, I still massively enjoy the mode. The chaos is palpable and I find surprising amounts of enjoyment in playing medic, but it's still a bit wonky
I'm 100% with you on builds. I always try to avoid builds and team-comps, I wanna focus entirely on the moment to moment gameplay. That's the appeal of the genre, that (in theory) nobody has a meaningful advantage before we're swinging. If I win or lose I want it to be entirely because of the choices I make in the fight, not outside of it.
At least for multiplayer games and especially fighting games I get this, but for single player games builds are something I personally get a ton of fun out of, and I find it gives games a lot more variety and replayability
@@LenaScott-w5z I get that tbh. But speaking personally I don't replay games much, and I've always felt like builds in fact decrease (in my experience at least) variety, cause they funnel you into doing one thing. Like if I'm building a mage and find a cool sword or bow in a game, I can't use them, cause they're not magic
Played the game mode with my friends and consistently matched Celestial players despite only being floor 8. I couldn’t even begin to start thinking about the problems because the Happy Chaos and Slayers I played were so much better than me that it became really hard for me to also interact with the new mechanics. The game could’ve just had an assist and tag system and I think it might’ve been more fun.
personally I think it would be cool if all of stats of team were combined, then I medic tags with main he keeps statistics. You can go 3 vanguards for crazy stats but poor skills usage, or 1 vanguard and other classes to share strong sides
The design of this mode has baffled me since the first beta and now I'm even more confused with the "offscreen specialist" classes. It feels like a fighting game mode for people who don't actually want to play a fighting game, or for the people who were dragged into a party by the one in the friend group who does. That works alright when it's a beta being run on a seperate, free client but now you actually have to have the game. I feel like most people who play strive would rather actually play strive than sit offscreen tossing items.
It's amazing that every single iteration of this gamemode has the same solutions that would solve everything if ArcSys weren't cowards: Separate health bars and/or unlimited swaps.
Blaster is attack, raider is deffense, healer is burst, synergist is tension, vangaurd is unique, maybe give vangaurd like a small buff to all items rather than a buff to a specific catagory.
I was initially interested on the idea, but now I have no idea what they were thinking with this mode or who it's for. I'd rather they went all-out MvC2 and let the assists players control the game. Or pull back and make it like KOF. 2XKO works because it's flexible and dynamic. It's good on all players counts, online or offline, and they have the servers to make the 2v2 experience consistent. Strive 3v3 is like they went out of their way to shoot themselves in foot with every decision. It's a wacky party game mode, but there's a gated progression system? It's a perfect party game for offline, but it doesn't work offline? There's a tag + assist system, yet there's a ton of downtime for assists AND you're penalized for tagging into non-vanguard? It sucks to play online because it's 6 people, but you can't really play on your own, and matchmaking straight up doesn't work sometimes? It has matchmaking, but the actual main ranked mode still doesn't? WTF? Do
If it was just what DBFZ did, I'd even be happy with that. Like, just do a 1v1 of 3v3 with tag outs and assist. People would be more happy with that then what we got here. The option to play with friends on your team is really cool, tho. But I fly solo.
One thing I learned of 3v3 is that tag switching is great despite the person plays a non-combat class. The idea is to switch around for the sake of pressure and chaos. For example, winning Round 1 with tag switching from a starting class medic to a blaster, so that there are 2 people on screen punching down on the opponent, and switching again from blaster to the vanguard having 2 people again. Hopefully winning Round 1 with Vanguard ready for Round 2, and then Play Round 2 without much tag switching and utilize the assists. And then maybe do tag switching near the end of Round 2 if you are winning.
ArcSys keeps on desperately trying to cater to the casuals while not adressing the issues with the main game. So we end up getting ranked matchmaking in the party game mode first ...
My biggest gripe is when me and my 2 friends are sitting in the queue for 3 minutes only to get booted out and have to wait for another 3 minutes to get booted again.
I know a lot of people wanted tag mechanics and stuff, but I wanted something more akin to KOF where it's just a crew battle style. And we got this garbage instead.
Yeahhh It’s wild that we get ranks and matchmaking for this (what appears to be) unserious ass game mode . I’m hoping arcsys is using it as a sort of test for these features for a future 1v1 ranked matchmaking mode but I can only hope
3v3 is so fucking fun, me and my friends logged 7 hours in 2 days. we are at differnt skill levels but its still fun (I'm floor 9, the other 2 are 6 and 4) I am kinda afraid of the healing tho, Someone like Potemkin is really hard to kill because he gets so much hp back because it heals based on max health. Millia (my main) is pretty much impossible to play sadly, she dies so fast and gets her set ups interrupted, I've been playing Slayer in there and its been fun still. Overall the mode is a blast! It would be cool if the mode was more competitive like Fighterz, but this is neat to!
You know what I think this mode should've been? 3v3 but no classes and assists-modes/items and other RPG type crap, just pure fighting. The way it think about it's implementation is like a6 player Marvel type game. You each pick 1 character and the the way order is decided is whoever hits the button first is up first, or second, or third. The person who is primary has control of calling you in for an assist, but once they call you you get a set amount of time on screen to do whatever attacks you can. Then once one of you dies the next in line jumps in. You also havta "accept" switch outs for lack of a better word. Once a switch is requsted, you have 2 seconds to hit X or it won't switch. Idk something like this where everyone gets too truly fight and take on the other team.
I like the mode but yeah, my main probablem is that switching is just not worth it. Especially because of the Class and Equipment system. I mainly use the Healer class as an assist meaning that on main my stats are 1/1/1/1... If I pick Vanguard so I can switch my heals are severly underpowered. It really sucks... Honestly as the mode is right now it would be better as a 2v2.
i was expecting fz format for the 3 teams , so you can imagine my surprise when i booted up beta medic jacko , its a fun job but it sometimes felt like i just couldnt get heals or buffs out fast enough to help X( the tag system also felt really strange considering you had to stop what you were doing to try and mash your pal in with the inputs (often while under fire from opponents) just sort of disappointed with the mode overall

I think this mode is trash tbh. If you play with randoms, you have the following problems: - If you play assist, its not uncommon that the match is over before your spells are even off cooldown. So you can literally do nothing and it just feels like watching a replay. Either the health bars need to be increased by 100% or 200% and/or the initial cooldown of the abilities needs to get removed. - If an assist character wants to tag in, it is very rare that the main character actually accepts that tag-in request. Most of my matches are just one guy trying to solo the entire time while the other two are trying to also tag in for some fun. - Since the skill level is so much different from person to person, your best bet is to just pick the objectively best player and let him play as the fighter the entire time. This makes the whole gamemode feel like a 1v1 with some very small additions that can or cannot happen during the fight. - The connection feels extremely laggy. I already set the search to same region and same device and it still feels very bad to play it. If you want to actually play with friends, you have other problems: - There is no way to play that mode locally. If you meet with 5 others to play some matches, you literally need to have 6 devices with 6 games to play that. And if you use Switch or Playstation, all of those accounts also need to have the online feature enabled. - The training mode is barely functional. You cannot connect a second controller to it and the AI will just stay there doing absolutely nothing. So if you are the fighter, it's just a worse version of the normal training mode. If you are the support, you can only use that mode to get familiar with the assist abilities. And even for that case, you won't see buffs or other abilities in action that requires your partner or the enemy to do anything. And tagging in and out is completely impossible. I'm not sure if this mode even has potential. Right now it just feels like a mode that was not tested at all.
You can increase your defense by picking skills as equipment, using the 3rd bar in Skill Customization. I'm only playing it a ton now because I know it will lose 90% of it's player base soon and I want to level all the skills to at least around lvl 3/5. Especially since the level of these skills also matters when using them as equipment which is honestly kind of ridiculous.
I mean honestly this mode is just for fun And for casuals player to have a new way to fuck around without any restrictions So honestly im really happy for the addition of 3v3 And its fine if some people wont play it

It's a goofy mode for fun. It may not be to your taste and while I think it's cool that they tried some new really weird ideas, it didn't all come together perfect. It actually seems like they were taking the M.O.M. mode from GGXrd and making the next version of that
ehhhhh, thats different work types. character pipeline is something like character concept art and mechanical design, then it goes to asset creation for models, then animations/effects and audio recording, while i assume moveset is built and tweaked in parallel with the animation and audio recording stage. thing is the biggest manpower hog and/or bottleneck is usually around the model creation+asset, and then a huge bottleneck with animations,(this gets bigger over time as more character specific animations like pots or fausts overdrives are added). not to mention stages this game mode requires only a few new animations as the devs see fit, some UI assets, and some new ui, mechanical, and network programming, but probably not alot since private rooms already have 60% of the code they need. given the scope this should only take maybe 1/3 of the workload that a whole new character does. this has been in the works longer than most characters, so id assume it would be handled by people as they have openings in their work. ultimately this mode seems to trivial in its overlap to claim that its dev time could have been used on another character.
This has been in the works from before release im pretty sure. Think it was mentioned in dev backyard or interview way back then. This wasn't a late game idea and it def doesn't mean that we would've gotten more characters.

We could have had more characters instead of 3v3
Let that sink in
ehhhhh, thats different work types. character pipeline is something like character concept art and mechanical design, then it goes to asset creation for models, then animations/effects and audio recording, while i assume moveset is built and tweaked in parallel with the animation and audio recording stage. thing is the biggest manpower hog and/or bottleneck is usually around the model creation+asset, and then a huge bottleneck with animations,(this gets bigger over time as more character specific animations like pots or fausts overdrives are added). not to mention stages
this game mode requires only a few new animations as the devs see fit, some UI assets, and some new ui, mechanical, and network programming, but probably not alot since private rooms already have 60% of the code they need. given the scope this should only take maybe 1/3 of the workload that a whole new character does.
this has been in the works longer than most characters, so id assume it would be handled by people as they have openings in their work. ultimately this mode seems to trivial in its overlap to claim that its dev time could have been used on another character.
This has been in the works from before release im pretty sure. Think it was mentioned in dev backyard or interview way back then.
This wasn't a late game idea and it def doesn't mean that we would've gotten more characters.
I love this stupid game mode
This is the most just put my fries in the bag mode I've ever seen, lol. I would have liked it to have just been DBFZ but I quit that game the monent strive came out. So the mode is a skip, but the game is still a W.
