And tugging that little bit of beard under his bottom lip. Since I've seen several of his videos, I've become hyper conscious of when I do it my self... it so soooooo annoying.
What these companies trying to emulate the success of the Lego Movie don't seem to get is that besides being a beloved toy line (Playmobil is garbage anyway) they've had EXPERIENCE with animation. They had their cartoon series as well as a ton of video games. They had time to experiment and find a creative voice. It didn't come as a total surprise to see a movie. It was a logical next step. But what media presence does Playmobil have?
Well playmobil isnt garbage for one and! You cant compare the two toys with each other because they are both qaulity... if you put a playmobil figure and a lego figure and put them for two years outdoor. They would be both still in good shape. And actually did you ever see the constructions people make with playmobil castles? 3m high en 3m wide..... so both are great, but dont compare them.
Playmobil have been developing there "voice" with shorts on youtube for about 2 years now. They are based on each of the "worlds" in the range and are actually quite good fun. Possibly the problem is that Playmobil is not as universal a toy as Lego. Everyone knows the 80's Space Guy, not everyone will know the colonial redcoat from the mid 90's pirates range. Playmobil's whole schtick is a hilariously german level of detail, the space sets having airlocks and hundreds of tiny freeze dried food packs, the public services having every imaginable tool or accessory in 1/2 inch size right down to the admin paper work. If the movie doesn't have a gag when the motor home bumps something and hundred of tiny parts fly out from their very precise storage locations, then it isn't really a true representation of the Playmobil experience.
Kicked through toys are us is a brilliant description. I was half tempted with this film as the best present I ever received was a Playmobil pirate ship.
Hopefully there's a double-bill of Playmobil and the Witch someday soon. Playmobil first, to lure in the kids, and then lock the doors and bring on the flaming terror.
Totally disagree. This isn't Lego Batman, granted, but I thought it was charming and, judging by the reaction of my 4 and 8 year old, pretty good fun. Daniel Radcliffe as Rex Dasher is brilliant! It's not going to win any awards but it was far from 'horrific' and I enjoyed those 90 minutes far more than I expected to. Wrong side of the bed?
It was the worst film I’ve ever seen in my actual life worse than food fight worse than anything I’ve ever seen before is an disgrace to cinematic entertainment
Robbie Collin can be very insightful, but what he cant do it not spoil any film by describing its events in unnecessary detail. It's a review, not a retelling
This review is rubbish and they need to be less Lego fans to judge a Playmobil movie. I will watch because critics are not the guardians of the truth. Of the "normal" people I heard who saw the movie, they loved it.
Kermode is all hands, Collin is all elbows

Still better than Ben Bailey Wotsit.
Now we need someone who is all ears
"I felt guilty as a parent for taking my kids to see this film."
THIS MAN JUST COMMITTED A MURDER
"Not only did they realize it was bad, they realized how to weaponize it"
So how we feared what The Lego Movie could have been like
When’s the Sylvanian Families movie coming out?
😂
Japanese Epoch executives immediately huddle together furiously talking over each other.
I’d only want a Sylvanian film if it was made by the man who makes Forest Friends.
Ulleskelf - I feel you on that one, but you’ll have to make do with the director behind a series of Unilever adverts.

I feel like Robbie would be worthy successor to the good doctor.
The Robbie equivalent of the Kermodian rant.

"It felt like being kicked through Toys R Us"
*Oof*
‘Not only did they realise it’s bad, they realised how to weaponise it’.
What is up with the bird noise ?
It made me think he swore randomly in the middle of his sentence. Or he blurted out a very fast political statement.
@@Spaceman2921 it just to really out of place
This is my favourite Robbie Collins review.
oh yes! I had the Playmobile operating theatre and the hospital ward! Those were the days.
"Oh Robbie!" lol
Giant escaped bird in studio 1:34
1:34 Did Robbie swear, just from the bird tweeting?
Never saw the emoji film or this film, but from my vantage point of ignorance his parallel seems spot on.
Hopefully there's a double-bill of Playmobil and the Witch someday soon. Playmobil first, to lure in the kids, and then lock the doors and bring on the flaming terror.
Why the birdsong?
Is that a better hatchet job than Kermode would have done?
It's so uncanny that he even sounds like Mark in the way he speaks :-O
The clip on bandages are what Playmobil unique 😂
Everything is boresome!!!
well... at least we've got two good trailers from this along with HELLBOY 2019
I didn't even realise Playmobil was still a thing?
what's next duplo
But Mumsnet said it was good!
Does Black Phillip show up in this movie too? Because if not, maybe he should have.
There is not a film in this world that would not be improved with a cameo by Black Phillip

Carl Skipper Was thinking of taking my 28 month old as she loves Playmobil trains etc.
It was the worst film I’ve ever seen in my actual life worse than food fight worse than anything I’ve ever seen before is an disgrace to cinematic entertainment
wrong way to think. there's alot more people that liked it.
Pedro Valente it’s my opinion
@@jjsfilmcorner7619 and you're entitled to it. but all this hate for a animated movie. it's too much.
Amazing review. Can't believe someone as talented as Anya Taylor-Joy is in this.
Robbie Collin can be very insightful, but what he cant do it not spoil any film by describing its events in unnecessary detail. It's a review, not a retelling
He didn't really tell you anything the trailer doesn't, except maybe the dead parents which apparently is the very beginning
Birdsong? Robbie how could you?
It was 7/10 for us, kids will love it. :)
1:33 SCRAAAAAWWW
How come Robbie seems to get saddled with the worst films?
Jjj
There is nothing wrong with The Emoji Movie it’s basically Tron.
