This is the best tutorial I have seen for the complete beginner in the CJ4 explaining the basics you need to do your first flight. I have watched hours of other tutorials which seem to overcomplicate things and be a bit overwhelming for a newbie and have lost me half way through but having watched your video I now feel able to revisit some of the more advanced videos. Thanks and look forward to seeing more content on the wonderful Working Title CJ4.
This is by far the best WT Cessna CJ4 tutorial for me transitioning from the humble Cessna 172 to jet. To the point, clearly explained and keeping to all the important steps and skipping what is not needed in this tutorial. I have learnt so much in the 40 mins. Thank you for spending the time and effort, and thank goodness that your rig did not crash towards the end !
Jonathan! This video is perfect! Thank you! I've been happily flying the TBM 930 w/Working Title mod for the Garmin and I went to "up my game" to the CJ4 and I basically stalled in trying to get the Nav and autopilot to work. I found many other videos, but they were to complicated. Your video is perfect, and a nice bonus to find the Little Navmap app too! Thanks for all your work!
Is it possible to save a flight plan into the CJ4's avionics system? I'm currently importing the game's flight plan, and then deleting the additional waypoints the system may unnecessarily toss in. I see the same happens when importing a saved .pln from Little Navmap too so just wondering if the avionics itself can remember flight routes (like the mem1, mem2, mem3 buttons save).
I'm transitioning from GA to airliners and watched a couple of tutorial vids but you have explained more clearly and made it more understandable than anyone has .thank you and I just subbed and will be watching and learning from your channel once again thank you!
Absolutely brilliant video! Loved this. Been dropping in and out of FS2020 for the last few years but this has been both informative and enlightening! Off to download the Working Title mod right now :)
You, Sir, are a legend! This is an AMAZING tutorial. I subbed and rang the bell! I hope you continue to make some more advanced content on the Working Title CJ4.
Discontinuity exists in the FMS because some arrivals end at a fix where a heading or course are to be flown until radar vectors or direct to a different fix is assigned. Without discontinuities, the airplane will hit the last fix and go direct to the next waypoint and not fly the heading or course on the arrival.
@@marcw.5492 Discontinuity is a real word - it just means there is a part of the flight plan that the aircraft cannot automatically join together - pilot intervention is needed.
This is a real education... I've never heard that word in flying until recently and now I've heard it at least a dozen times because I get it every single time I make a flight plan... Thanks again I noticed several things with flight planning that don't make logical sense I'll have to make a list sometime and send them to the higher-ups
Fantastic video!! Next time you're flying an ILS in the CJ4, keep right on that flight director and it'll fly ya right in (keep your black upside down V tucked right into the pink upside down V! Also have you ever tried VNAV on an approach? I've never flown a CJ4 (Just CJ1's 2's and 3's) but if you set your lowest desired altitude on your approach, it should start your descent at just the right time for ya. And if there's different altitudes at different waypoints on the arrival, it will be right on altitude at each one! Keep these awesome vids coming!!!
I'll do some more landing videos at some point - I've done lots of "cold and dark start" videos, but not many on landing. The funny thing? I the real world, pilots tend to fly approach themselves - they rarely use autopilot.
Hi Jonathan - I'm new to this so your tutorials are simply excellent. But I have an issue. I run MSFS on the Xbox series X and run LittleNavMaps (LNM) on my Mac - obviously there is no integration. When I try and follow your tutorial I am not offered the departure SID of LUXT15 in LNM. Is this because the two systems are not connected and LNM is using a different database rather than using the database from MSFS? Also in MSFS in the Cessna CJ4 I'm offered LUX15 and not LUXT15 (missing the letter T). Is this because I'm using the standard CJ and not the Working Title Mod? I guess I have this idea that there is a central database of nav points that everyone uses and plays together nicely with?
It looks like your FD, in NAV mode was tracking the localizer but you should really be in APP mode so that you track the localizer and glide slope at their more sensitive settings. Your MODE annunciator at that point should say LOC1 and GS. It is a fun airplane to fly ...
Hey man, I have been trying this I line up with the glide slope, got APR mode on with LOC, green needles but the plane just keeps going at the same alt. And over shoots the runway. Anything I'm doing wrong? Cheers
Thank you Jonathan for this great job, it gave me a lot of explanation. Just 1 question : Don't you use the APPR button, in AutoPilot, during the final ? Many thanks from Belgium !
It is with great pleasure and enthousiasme that i follow your video's. As a complete newbie all the information is overwhelming but taking it step by step. After absorbing many of your video's the main question here is: Where can i find the altitudes i have to fly at. Looking at the legs page maybe? Or does ATC tells me to be at which level at the next point on my route? Main goal here is to fly from AMS to LCY. Short route but ideal for practice i reckon. Regards from the other side of the pond!
In controlled airspace, altitudes are dictated by both the controller, and your flight plan. Your flight plan will dictate the cruise altitude - which is determined by the most efficient manner of operating your aircraft - and the routes to getting there are determined by the flight plan - the SID and STAR, but can be overridden by the controller.
