I was born in Que Que (now Kwe Kwe) post Rhodesia. Beneath my feet was gold, we rode on the mine dumps as kids. With our horses. Was play, we didn't know what really was beneath our feet. The Sebakwe dam or river we swam as kids, wondered why we felt so strong, well gold infused water 😂🎉
I live in a town very similar in Australia I've seen people dig up half ounce nuggets in the back yard just last year the world's largest nugget was found near the family farm
Wester deep levels the deepest. I think it is almost 5km deep. The name changed and. Almost worked there many many years ago but De Beers Consolidated Diamond Mines was the best for me.🇿🇦🇦🇺🇬🇪🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
Correct. Deepest part of the Witwatersrand basin. I went down in 1982. About 5000 feet down to sea level and another 6000 feet below sea level. Hot as hell down there.
I think most of the gold Mine's in the area I live in are around 1 km below the surface my friends family have a mine smack in the middle of the town they have a lift to the mine from the house as well as the one the workers use on the other side of town
Where are we red lake Ontario or quebec I'm in Kirkland lake we just sunk a brand new shaft cost the mine something like 700million lol majes ya wonder how much do they plan to get back out of that lol and thats not even including all the other costs like going to get the gold drill & blast explosives ground support fuel machinery wages repairs its like the numbers dont add up in my mind lol oh and skip it to surface and brought over to the crusher then mill mill lol 10000 feet is the deepest ive been when the ground bumps that far down just imagine the loudest crackling thunder you've ever heard it's comparable to sounding like that only I've seen rtv buggies flip upside down from seismic activity that far down an boy is it hot having worked underground 5- 6 yrs at the time I started at the chreighten mine I kinda knew what to expect only rather than going underground in a cage that was about 6x6 this cage was double decks and you could drive a 7 yard scoop in one peice onto each deck lol we went down to 7000 from there a diesel locomotive pulling several mancars took us im not sure in terms of distance but it took me 20min to walk it without stopping then from the drop off point you drove down another 3000 to the bottom where the last refuge station was fuk it air conditioned two deep freezers full of ice and MR Freezies lol two skids of 600ml bottled aquavina water two big screen tvs it actually had wifi in the refuge also and you'd swear you walked into tim Hortons in terms of coffee hazel nut French vanilla you Name it hot chocolate I could see why everyone around was always smiling ear to ear lol the ramp they spread this BBQ sause looking stuff and it as smooth as ashphalt only down side is if say a sump pump quits or a water pipe burst and the water goes down the ramp it gets as slippery as a skating rink I seen a minecat tractor go down doing 360s glad I wasn't riding on that one lol anyway very much upscale place compared to the smaller mines I've worked at lol
The question reminded me of the end of the 19th century. The three best known deep mining places were: Johannesburg, Bendigo, and Denver. All three were going about 5,000 feet underground. But Johanessburg and Denver at the surface were about 6,000 feet above sea level, whereas Bendigo was about 800 feet. Arguments were raised about which mines were the deepest. From sea level down to the bottom, the Bendigo mines got closed to the center of the Earth. People still argue about how to measure depth. Some say from surface, some closest to the center of Earth. Opinion is everything. To me it is simply closest to the center of the Earth.

How did they know that there was gold that deep down? Anyone know?
They entered creative mode and enabled no clip
Diamond drilling (exploration drilling) finds it, then they mine down to it.
@@HardRockMiner Thanks for that!

I’ve worked as an underground food miner. The cage dropped us off at 7000ft and worked even deeper
How do you mine food?
DEEP fried foods?

I've done this since I was 19 and now I'm 56. I love underground mining!!
Thank god people like you can do it as I would be terrified thinking it’s going to collapse as any second
Some of the coolest times of my life were working underground
It's cool down there alright 🥶

The elevator travels one Empire State Building per minute down!
It's called a "cage," not an elevator.
I don’t like “swapping” but Idris has my vote for the first Black James Bond!
