@@hattalis29 And I was 15. I looked forward to it every week. I remember a strike on ITV during the second series. I was devastated at missing an episode. I had both albums.
Thanks for that insight. Missed the second series due to industrial action by some idiots but was ahead of it's time in '76. Some really good songs that deserve more recognition.
i av the albums i bought wen they released em in 1976 an 1977 but i want the albums on dvd where can i get em from an lets campaign on facebook to get rock follies back on tv wot channel showed it in the 1970's does anyone remember /
Not sure if you’ve seen the series but this particular song is sung this way by Rula because it is about shady characters in porn. The “Talking Pictures.” She and the entire cast is very good in this series.
As is but the series wouldnt have been the same without her and she did add a lot of glamour to the group! Poor woman didnt half suffer in her personal life though and I'm so glad she got out alive and in one piece. Still love this programme and it brings back memories from my teenage years. Better times all told x
One of the things that is noticeable over the two series is that Rula Lenska's voice improved a bit. She was cast for her acting skills and made a great job of her character 'Q.' The whole point is that 'Q' doesn't have the strongest voice in the band. When an extra singer is added to the Little Ladies ( Sue Jones Davies) she and her other original bandmate Anna ( Charlotte Cornwell) are relegated to singing harmonies at the side of the stage. Anna , struggling with paranoia and addiction, leaves the group and Q , feeling vocally exposed ,soon leaves too. Q doesn't have a rock background, she is supposed to have sung in a club on the Riviera somewhere imitating the style of a 'Topping ' girl , a 1930s Berlin style like Marlene Dietrich in The Blue Angel.
I fell in love with that show & the soundtrack. I had the LP. Still remember all the songs.
Loved this programme when a girl. Still the soundtrack on vinyl in my loft. Great times...
A brilliant show.
Loved it. I was 14 at the time

@ziggycat999 Hi ,both series of Rock Follies are now available on dvd.
Wish iCloud watch full episodes in region 1
it's a bit silly and dated but i find it oddly watchable
probably cos it has less of the cynicism that is in every tv show nowadays

Is this prisoner cell block h ¿
Christ, was it really this bad? Sometimes it's best to let the memory linger
It was Ground Breaking, and Utterly Brilliant "at the time." You've (as we all have) been spoilt by modern technology.
Turn down your hearing aid badsport. I bought the album back in the day.
