Thank you. Very helpful. I have traveled to China for several years vetting factories to make our products. I learned that if a customer is having their own original products made in China, sometimes factory workers in package manufacturing companies are paid to copy UPC numbers of new products. Just saying..

i cant even find where to upload a GS1 certificate on the amazon seller site. and it still is giving me an error even though all the information is correct. when i reach out to amazon they point me to different pre written text that really isnt much help. I changed the brand name to generic on both my GS1 UPC and on my product listing thinking that may be part of the issue... idk where to go from here

To get Amazon to recognize your GS1 certificate, you need to first make sure that the certificate was issued by GS1 and that it's valid. After that, you can submit your certificate to Amazon through their Brand Registry program. Once Amazon verifies your certificate, you should be able to use it to create product listings.
Regarding the error you're experiencing, it could be due to a number of factors, including incorrect or missing information in your product listing, incorrect information on your GS1 certificate, or a technical issue on Amazon's end. If you have already verified that your certificate is valid and submitted it through Brand Registry, I would recommend reaching out to Amazon's seller support team for further assistance. They may be able to provide more detailed guidance on resolving the issue and getting your product listing live.

Holy hell, I wonder if that’s the problem… every time I add my products with my purchased UPC codes I keep getting the error that it’s not valid and then the listing just goes away. I spent over an hour on the phone with someone earlier and it still not fixed. so far that they sent me another email saying that not the right codes even w uploading the certificates!

Wow, this error is very recurrent, and Amazon's support is terrible at resolving it. They always give you automatic answers that send you around in circles. We've wasted a lot of time with this incompetence.

Hi Steven, 1 of my #1 selling product has its UPC (detail page removed). Even though we have a GS1 exemption how do we inform amazon to use the Asin and ignore the UPC?

Initially, I entered products using third-party UPC numbers. Everything was ok until 6 months ago when I wanted to enter new products. I started getting that error messages. Then I watched your videos and bought GS1. Now when I try to enter new products I still get that error message again. After watching this video now I am worried about how should I enter the GS1 Certificate properly so that I do not have to change my old products' UPC numbers. I do not want to go into that mess. I am very hopeless, confused, and frustrated. I have no clue how to get out of this nightmare! It has been going over 6 months now!

Amazon has a lot of egg on their face for being ruthless and untransparent on UPC issues. It's a hot mess. It's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. I wish I had better advice.

Here's another issue, having codes as UPC will not work when enrolling into Amazon Transparency. We had to switch from UPC to EAN. It was a pain in the behind, having to delete ASINs for 24 then reloading to EAN. Have you done a video on the printing process for Transparency. It is a little advanced but is a great program to prevent counterfeiters, they will not be able to hijack a listing. Our catalog was a test case for this program(Transparency). You will need Bartender and a label printer(Zebra)

I'm dealing with an issue in which I'm trying to list a product on Amazon of a very established brand (I do not own the brand). I successfully uploaded the flat file. The Amazon system has delisted the product and said the UPC code doesn't appear to be valid. It's actually on the product and it is indeed in the GS1 registry online database search, as valid. Amazon Seller Support wants this from me: "please provide a copy of the certificate issued to you by GS1" in order to investigate reinstating the listing. Is there any way to get such certificate from GS1 if you are not the actual brand who owns the company prefix? Thank You for any help.

Try loading the product to the ASIN if it exists.
Otherwise reach out to brand to get gs1 cert.

I have multiple brands on amazon USA under the same company account, all of my products use gs1 UPC codes, on the gs1 certificate I have my company name not my brand name as a licensee. Will amazon create a problem when in the future if I upload that certificate mentioning my company name, not the brand name? The same company is used for amazon and gs1, and while assigning a UPC in gs1 I had used the same brand name under which I wanted that product to be listed on amazon.

    • @MyAmazonGuy

Once the certificate is accepted on an account it's not a problem

After watching your videos, I have started using brand stories on all our Asins and trust me the results have turned out really well.
But can you make a video on how to paste the store link URL in our brand stories as that’s something very tricky. Have asked Amazon managers but none of them turned out to be helpful.
Thanks for always helping and guiding.

Do you still agree with your view here Steven? I have been using UPCS codes with no problem and now launching a new brand in my account. Bought a new GS1 code from GS1, but debating to use another one of my UPCS bought ones. Can’t decide and don’t want listing to be booted in the future for not having GS1 registered code. Thoughts please….

Im Having this issue: We would require a proof stating that the Brand (x) is affiliated with the UPC/EAN Owner (x).
The proof of affiliation can be in the form of:
    1. Copyright
    2. Trademark
    3. Legal Agreement
    4. Letter of Affiliation
    5. Email
not sure how to get pass this with amazon besides a trademark?

They won't accept my gs1 bought UPC code. I have sent them a copy of the certificate twice. I just started a new brand. Having products manufactured at this very moment. I haven't trademarked it yet I don't know if I want to yet. But Amazon is demanding proof that I am this brand that I'm trying to start up on Amazon. SO FRUSTRATING

GS1 Canada has a sleazy reputation check out their google reviews with a 2.1 rating and that is with almost 80 reviews or have a look at the dozens of recent complaints on the BBB website There is a reason they will not let people leave comments on their TH-cam videos do not become another victim Amazon has their own UPC codes now for sellers

My listing got suppressed with this
This ASIN has GTIN codes that do not match the brand associated to the ASIN. GTIN codes are reliable data that are used to limit duplicate products in the catalogue and ensure product authenticity. We verify the authenticity of GTINs by checking the GS1 database and GTINs that do not match information in GS1 are considered invalid. We recommend obtaining your GTINs directly from GS1 (and not from other third parties selling GTIN licences) to ensure the appropriate information is reflected in the GS1 database. If you believe we have removed your ASIN in error, contact Selling Partner Support here. Repeatedly creating ASINs for brands you do not have a relationship with will result in the removal of ASIN creation abilities.
I bought UPC from GS1, what should I do now?
