I agree as usual. One problem often occurs : the fear of making mistakes leads players to restrict their swing, to focus a lot on the arm/the hand, crisped to increase control/precision. There must be a letting go state of mind and an acceptance of mistakes to swing fully and freely. That was to make a little association mental/technique 🙂 Besides that, I'd be curious to have your point of view concerning rythm ; we often talk about the swings, forgetting there's an incoming ball, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, with which the swings need to be synchronized.
Very good point. Playing tons of practice matches help so that playing points where something is at stake becomes more normal. And yes, you have to adjust to every ball differently which is what makes tennis so hard!
@@rotcivhp In matches, aim not to win the match, but instead aim to hit as many aggressive shots with good form and relaxed focus as possible, and the winning will take care of itself.
❤the tips. And love the wrist bit at the end😂. Another thing which should be demystified is the stay low and imagine a ceiling above the head in ground strokes. It not only robs the power from the legs but also put a lot of stress on the knees.
This is the best forehand video I’ve watched. I tried taking the non dominant hand back past the middle line of the body and it fixed my broken forehand instantly! Thank you.
I have been following your instructional videos because of your no nonsense explanation. I feel more confident with my game after watching most of your videos. Thank you.
Excellent point on the leg loading and getting down so you can uncoil upwards to generate stability and power and topspin. So many leave this critical point out. Thanks for the reminder!
Very good video. I'm struggling with my forehand using indeed only my arm as explained at the beginning of this video. Thanks again, very helpful advices 👍
Great video Mieke, yup, I was taught the same way in the ‘70s. Straight back, straight thru, stay sideways, stay down. I struggle now in 2 ways trying to revise my forehand: 1)using my legs to raise up and use the ground. When I do this I often top the ball. 2) when I bring my left arm to say a 3 o’clock position I’m often late and don’t get it out of the way in time to make shot. I feel too rotated. Thoughts?
Sounded like the Patrick M tip at the end of your instruction. I'm in agreement with you, not a good way to focus just on the hands for faster racket head speed! Very good instruction coach!
Yes that is correct. Don't forget yelling Parfait(e) [Perfect in French] when hitting a good shot. For added power, instead of grunting, yell parfait at contact. (just kidding)
Yes body. 100%. But I use my wrist/ keep it flexible - while also swinging through getting my elbow up to my nose - I get a lot of spin/ power this way (not muscling). Same w/ serve - I keep my wrist loose so it naturally 'snaps' w/o muscling it or putting pressure on my shoulder. I'm not forcing my wrist/ but it's def part of the chain.
@MeikeBabelTennis That helped a lot, I've been playing for a month now, and I was really struggling with forehand, but I could not return the ball half of the time. Thanks!
Great video. I'm still struggling with a consistent loading. Especially when I get tired, I tend to try to muscle the ball, instead of using my bodyweight.
Hi Mike, I hope everything has been ok with you since we last spoke. Can you believe that it's been 9 months since my Mother left us and despite everything being resolved between the children/brothers a long time ago, the process is still not finished ?! I don't know if it's a problem at the country level or if it's widespread and goes beyond borders. This causes life, namely Tennis (racquets etc etc) to walk with a significant delay. After the outburst and the nostalgia that remain forever, let's go to the video: It's true that recreational players tend not to dismantle the strokes as a powerful forehand and realize that the basic principles are all there. I usually use a help that makes it a lot easier, which is to reduce the video playback speed to 0.25 for example. The video is very well conceived because it explains in detail how to execute this stroke in order to generate power correctly and efficiently, which is already a trademark of yours. Thanks Meike, and have a very pleasing weekend !
Just remember all you other club players like me , if you get loaded and sink down before driving up, if you are new at this way of hitting forehand you must have really good timing or you come up too soon, get too much of top half of the ball, thus into the NET !!! Also if you never had a good hip turn and now you are trying to do it for more power, spacing is super critical or watch your ball go LONG !!! You guessed it, my forehand was garbage tonight for both those reasons !
I was taught the same calm forehand style. At least that's what they tried 40 years ago. So, to all parents out there, beware of old coaches! They might teach your kids how to play a wooden racquet properly. But nothing else.
On the closed stance does the right hip come through during contact or after contact? It seems if the goal is more power wouldn’t it be at contact? If the goal is balance seems it would be after contact.
I know you like Colorado... but, I think you would love Northern California Sierra better! I can't tell you how many coaches we have gone through who just don't get it. :(
Very easy to theorize and illustrate when you're standing still, but seeing you run for a shot while illustrating would be far more realistic because footwork very much affects how you execute this in a practical situation.
For older people above 60 it’s not easy to sink down to load their legs😂 It’s easier though to turn sideways to use their torso to drive up the balls. I hope I could do both but the second one is easier for me.
If all club players were sensible pusher artists instead of wannabe Djokovics there would be no need for this video or employment for this fine coach. Pushers win. Wannabees have a few glory shots to remember their losses.

Thank you, I appreciate your support!
So good and so clear! The best tennis coach in internet !!!

This is precisely my situation. During practices , i swing freely. But when i am in matches i tense myself up

Totally agreed. Some alcohol may help ;)

Excellent lesson! Wonderfully presented! A gift for teaching tennis 🙏
Thank you!
The dig at Mouratoglou at the end 😂.
one of the best instructors in youtube. Tks.
I love Meike's tutorials - dry witted, instructive and simple to follow. The psshiiit motion - I know whose teaching sessions you are referring to! 😀
Awesome, best explanation of correct techniques
Ça fait plaisir de voir enfin une femme coach de cette qualité...merci Meike 🙏
Merci beaucoup!
I have said it before and will say it again, the best instructor on the Internet. I love all of your videos and watch them over and over.
❤the tips. And love the wrist bit at the end😂. Another thing which should be demystified is the stay low and imagine a ceiling above the head in ground strokes. It not only robs the power from the legs but also put a lot of stress on the knees.
GRACIAS
This is the best forehand video I’ve watched. I tried taking the non dominant hand back past the middle line of the body and it fixed my broken forehand instantly! Thank you.
I've been searching for this info for a while and finally found a video that has it online, and free!! thanks so much!
I have been following your instructional videos because of your no nonsense explanation. I feel more confident with my game after watching most of your videos. Thank you.
Thanks!
Thank you for your support

Sure thing
Great video Meike, always exceptionally informative 👌
Thank you!
Excellent lesson. You make so easy to understand what you need to do.
Thank you! That’s what I’m aiming to do
Very good video. I'm struggling with my forehand using indeed only my arm as explained at the beginning of this video.
Thanks again, very helpful advices 👍
One of the most brilliant explanations of how to execute a forehand, including exercises to perfect the motion. Well done.
Best instructor. Great content.
Thank you for posting this helpful video
Awesome lesson, Meike. "Use your entire body" is a great tip to remember always. You have a great teaching style.
Thank you!
Very good and informative video. Thanks for the tips!
Great I leaned ❤
Thank you for this video! Should the back/outside foot turn out during the coil, or are you supposed to keep your toes facing the net, please?

Incredible videos! Thank you very much!

Another great tennis tutorial! Thank you!
That's look like it's gonna make my forehand much better, can't wait to try it tomorrow.
Let me know how it goes!
I love your instructions - thank you!
It's explained really well, thanks!
Can you explain two different ways to hit after loading: Unload-and-hit vs Unload-and-touching-front_foot-then-hit? Thanks

Awesome video
Thank you very much
Meike - great video. Thanks for that.
It makes sense thanks
Great advice.
Which city do you work in normally? I would like to visit you if possible. Thanks
Thank you very much.
Another tips, take some marital art class specily boxing, similar body posture and movement... Thank you for your wonderful teaching
Thank you❤

Meike Du bist sehr gut!!! Habe Dich abonniert 👍
excelent teacher. thanks.
Thank you! 😃
Body unit-turn doesn't naturally happen in right-forehand to me..................gotta incorporate it into my right-forehand
Tons of practice necessary to engrain something new.
Awesome 👍
Sooo Good!!
Perfect

Unless they continue to educate themselves :-)
Loading and explosion!

Now if I can just remember to do this in the middle of a real point.

I can't tell you how many coaches we have gone through who just don't get it. :(
That’s a bummer.
Giorgi drives her back leg forward and that must give her the power she has.
Very easy to theorize and illustrate when you're standing still, but seeing you run for a shot while illustrating would be far more realistic because footwork very much affects how you execute this in a practical situation.
Jesus loves you so much ❤ and great tip, thank you❤
Does it contradict to this video th-cam.com/video/6uswibxRz1A/w-d-xo.html, or it is the same, but a different aspect?
For older people above 60 it’s not easy to sink down to load their legs😂
It’s easier though to turn sideways to use their torso to drive up the balls.
I hope I could do both but the second one is easier for me.
No pass psss folks, don't do that. It hurts.
NICE BUT SOMETHING MISSING .................
Can't compare club players to top pros.
Still, club players can work on fundamentals that they pros have as well
If all club players were sensible pusher artists instead of wannabe Djokovics there would be no need for this video or employment for this fine coach.
Pushers win. Wannabees have a few glory shots to remember their losses.
Thanks!
Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it
