Can confirm, strong guys hate it when you do "their thing" with ⅓ of the effort using leverage. If they think they are getting shown up by a length of pipe, or a prybar, or in this case a hammer with a slot in the handle, they will metaphorically dive tackle you about how it's wasting time and how you should just man up and work harder etc etc... BC I guess back when they were young the laws of physics were different and the basic principle of leverage didn't apply back then or something 🤷
The 2 guys I've met that have Martinez are each master carpenter's that have their own companies. Very humble and modest about their tool brand selection because their work spoke for itself. It's not what ya got it's how ya use it..

Well in a divorce it’s usually because of the hammer. Sometimes she needs a sledge instead of a ball peen. But you can run a peen like a sledge to get the same result. Ya just have to work harder.
That's a neat trick, I tend to just tap the grip of the nail pick with the neck of my hammer until the nail starts to give. (using your hammer: uppercut the nailpick, forcing the nail out)
@@mountaintopremodeling 7/8 and 9/16 I’m a scaffolder and I own this hammer and it fits both bolts and we work with those sizes everyday so it comes in handy
Great idea, however, that slot your using is for a 7/8” nut. It’s for scaffold builders . Scaffolding clamps are 7/8”. The smaller slot Is for the beam clamps, because the bolt for the set screw is smaller. Just saying . Those slots are for scaffold builders . Scaffold builders love a lighter hammer , because they bang cups all day and drive is 16d. Double heads and cut nails into steel . They are constantly swinging a hammer and cannot use a wooden handle so the titanium is the best choice .
That's why I push down instead of trying to pull up. Also less chance of tweaking your back pushing your weight down onto it. Also, less effort than even your hammer pulling up method.

Dewalt’s catspaw is very underrated. It’s made with an accessory/ feature that you place over a sunk nail, hit it once or twice with any weight hammer, stick the cats paw thru the puncture and pry out the nail without having to use your hammer as leverage.
I’ve pulled hundred of nails with cheap and expensive cats paws. If the mail doesn’t come out with a shorty they make long bars 😂 please don’t use this method next to windows. One stubborn mail and the windows gone
If you measure it, it's actually a 3/4 wrench and the bottom should be 1/2 inch. That's how stilettos are anyways. Always used it to tighten bolts when u didn't have a wrench handy
I've seen guys bend a stiletto doing this with their cats paw, one guy cracked three teeth when the nail head folded over on itself and he caught the whole assembly in the jaw.
They make little punches that go over the embeded nail and punch down some so you can grip it and rip it. You dont have to damage the trim. Leaving gouges for every nail doesn't look good.
I usually just turn the cats paw the other way and hammer the other side. Always works and is usually much quicker for me. Also, hate that cats paw got me a relic from a garage sale. Things about a foot long and dosent make a giant hole trying to dig the nail out.
Mechanics have literally been using this kind of trick with 2 spanners to loosen or tighten bolts for years. Most of us mere mortals who don't have a Martinez hammer but we could probably find a big enough pipe or a big ring spanner to use than an expensive hammer like that one.
The metal quality on a stanley or bostich cats paw is superior to the estwing. Probably most brands. They hold an edge pretty good but don't chip out from my experience.

@jjmeara26 I disagree. People shit on things like this because they're more novelty than practicality. People don't get to a financial state where they can afford a $400 hammer when a $40 option will do the same job. I make more than enough to have a Martinez hammer for every day of the week, but I got to that point by not buying frivolous shit and being smart with my money. Smart people with wealth own property, not expensive hammers. People who are working manual labor jobs and want flashy things for their hard work buy $400 hammers while paying rent and leasing brand new trucks. Buy a house, over pay your monthly minimum mortgage. Drive a vehicle that's reliable and gets the job done. Pay it off. Work hard. Aquire wealth, then buy a boat and a side by side if you want something nifty and flashy.
