I have carried that fastback for over a year. It is the real deal. I Abuse the crap out of this thing snd it’s still flawless. I pry with the flathead way too much and constantly think “well it’s been a good run” and it still comes back lol. Seriously it’s crazy good
Thanks for the tips! The fastback’s been my go to edc knife for years now. If you carry a knife for work, it adds a Phillips, flat head / light duty pry tool, nut driver & bottle opener to your pocket without taking up any extra space
As a Forklift Mechanic, I have that ICON 1/4 but socket and I use it a good amount, I have put a good amount of torque on it and the gear mechanism hasn’t failed- I did warranty it one tho, the extension would no longer stay in the extension position, instead it slid through into T handle position even if the dots weren’t aligned
I stopped going in to warranty mine. Just happened way too often. Bought the gear wrench 2 ratchet combo for a similar price and pretty happy with it. I do the same work, I know it makes things less painful.
Well I already have the cobra pliers, but thaaaaanks for adding two more tools to my list of small but poor financial decisions I'm going to make. Jokes aside, I'm glad the algorithm gods showed me your channel, subbed. Keep up the good work dude
This really is the trifecta of edc tools. I swear the Milwaukee fastback replaced my Leatherman T4 as soon as I tried them. I needed to cut a lot of boxes for both of my previous jobs, so the replaceable blades became so much more convenient than any of my fancy knives. Then when I discovered the 6in1 fastback, it was an absolute game changer for me working in IT. Made it so convenient to cut zip ties and unscrew rack screws on the fly. I've been wanting to add the ICON ratchet to my daily kit for years, but just never got around to it, as well as a pair of small knipex pliers, I just haven't had the need. I've always known that if I did though, it would expand the functionality of my fastback so much
Thank you so much for sharing. That was really interesting. I have all of them and they had been downgraded to my “non-edc”. But I think I’ll make a Kit out of the three and try it out. Thanks!
Carried that same Knipex pliers for over 20 years on the job, a lot of tool for the size! That ratchet and the Fastback look pretty handy too! Blsgs, gg 🙏🙏✝️✝️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🙋☝️☝️☝️
I keep the icon mini ratchet case in a small tool bag with the Makita XPS 1/4" impact sockets that come in the rubber holders for a compact bit / socket set
Thanks for the extra tips on the Fastback. They're out of the Icon set the last couple of times I've been in, but I'll get one sometime. Good thing I wear a lot of cargo shorts to carry all of these EDC things. Another thing that I always carry is a small (3', but only 1¼ x 1¼ x ⅜) Lee Valley tape measure that's imperial & metric. Only $8 for 3 of them. - Chris
I’ve carried my Fastback for three years at my maintenance job and use it everyday. The only reason I bought a second one was when mine went missing and I found it a few months later in my teenager’s room.
The Klein version of the fastback will lock open in different positions, plus they give you an extremely useful extension for that short lil driver so you can reach more screws and bolts in tighter places.... 99.9 percent of bottlecaps can be twisted off if you don't have soft, dishpan hands....lmao
Thing about the fastback from someone who uses it everday. Grind off the bottle opener teeth they just find a way to poke you when you least want. Get the magnetic screwdriver version the one with the little steel ball kinda sucks and is prone to eventually falling out
Anybody else lose the little ball bearing that holds the screwdriver tip into the fast back? I’m on my 4th one now having had 3 already lose it. I begged the Milwaukee Rep when I saw him in Home Depot to get the R&D guys to fix it!
I buy a new 6 in 1 fastback every 4 to 6 weeks. I love it and use all the features every day. But the damn detent ball falls out way too easily and it's a slim chance I find it again on a mechanical room floor.
Pretty sure that ICON is made by TONE in Japan. I got the exact same one under TONE name. Just in case it's out of stock, as it seems to be at the time of writing this. Tone BRFS27 is the model.
I have a similar setup I carry for the junkyard. My buddy wanted to cut some wires and I came to the same realization. I have no way to cut wires haha. We settled on the knife since it was stranded wire though
Never ever ever leave the 10mm socket attached to the ratchet! You will lose both! The 10mm will take whatever it’s attached to to its place of freedom.
The bottle opener is the worst feature on that knife. All it does is snag things and get under my finger nail. Why do these companies think that tradesmen need another bottle opener?
The worst is when companies sacrifice a tool slot for only bottle opener. If you need a dedicated tool for that, your imagination does not have the capacity to adapt to multitool use. The can opener is an other one i have a problem with. I have one in kitchen, when outdoors i buy ring pull. If the Doomapocalyptoftimes comes, I'll just use the knife to open the can of cat food i find in the looted store after fighting the alien zombies...
Adding an extension to a ratchet does not increase torque or "leverage' , it actually decreases it. This guy has never used tools for work, or for Perhaps for any purpose. Everything new and shiny on that board behind him. And DO NOT use that 'stripper' for anything electrical. It scores the copper which will cause it to break open as it gets work hard. DO NOT do electrical anything if you have to ask why.
Are you saying you get less torque or leverage from a 12" long wrench vs a 6"? The moment calculation explains it. Force x Distance = Moment I would love to hear how it decreases it.
Lol idk what's funnier, the monstrosity on the thumbnail or the fact that some people actually EDC a 5 inch knipex plier and icon mini ratchet. Phone, wallet, keys, knife (or multitool), concealed carry pistol and maybe a flashlight. Add a med kit if you're a real stud. Don't EDC headphones, don't EDC a lighter, Don't EDC more than 1 spare mag ,don't EDC a water filter, don't EDC a fire starting kit, don't EDC a tablet/laptop and don't EDC tools. If your work/business requires you to use other things then that's not your EDC, your EDC is what you carry on your person even outside of work. Next thing I'll probably see is a tactical baby holder with a MOLLE attached jack stand.
@@petermarinKershaw Select Fire if you want a screwdriver, it not, any pocket knife and dedicated bit holder, as the icon ratchet does the work of a screwdriver
this is like an infomercial for milwaukee alternatives for actual edc tools. not a fan of the colour red, so these aesthetically won’t be in my toolkit.
What other tricks or combos have you found with these?
The Fastback is also a hammer. At least, mine is.
@@ste-bowBeen there…actually there yesterday.

I carry these three at work as an industrial maintenance tech, the entire mini ratchet set fits in a U.S. military surplus flash bang pouch
Ooooh I'm gonna have to get one of those, I love the icon and it's not terrible to carry in the pocket but that makes it even easier to edc
Best EDC video till date. And most useful combo. No wonder I keep rewatching this one over n over. Thank you.
Thanks for the tips! The fastback’s been my go to edc knife for years now. If you carry a knife for work, it adds a Phillips, flat head / light duty pry tool, nut driver & bottle opener to your pocket without taking up any extra space
The plier wrench are the correct way to take off bolts that you do not want to mess up if you were using those vs the cobras. 😊
Like brake master cylinder bolts!
Been carrying all 3 for over 2 years.
Great for edc

Same here. Love the warranty
You had me at bottle opener and stripper.
Right on, haha!
I love opening bottles, and I love strippers!
This is the exact edc i have been carrying for a few years the Cobras are a game changer
I purchased 2 of 3 of these after watching this months ago and they do not disappoint
I laughed when the 10mm disappeared, then I remembered to hit the like button.
Did not know about tape measure holder for scoring. Gracias!
You must be project farms brother
He sounds very similar doesn’t he?
...At all cost...
Very Impressive!

Dude it's so true!
that last combo was genius, never thought to pair those two together . TY!

great video, good pace no fillers straight to the point, no small talk. thank you i might pull the trigger with one of those fastbacks
Will the Doyle 8” fast adjust water pump pliers work?

Nice video, very useful
Imngomna vrab that 1/4in set up. I have the 5in knipex they fit perfectly in the small change pocket on my work pants.

Got a part number for the knipex cobra’s? Are they the xs cobra’s?

Anyone who says, 'size doesn't matter for pliers' clearly doesn't grasp simple concept of leverage.

Knipex is pronounced like nipex, the k is silent.

Not according to knipex. They have some videos on TH-cam demonstrating the correct pronunciation.
Yup it’s KAnipex
The official Knipex TH-cam already tells you the “k” is not silent. Hell, they even sell shirts that tell you it’s pronounced “Kuh - Nip - X.”
