Smiley Day and Happy Halloween Critters!! Hopefully you all have watched spooky films and had plenty of snacks tonight and I hope you enjoy this Critical Role video :)
Yes, for the 2019 they all dressed as their characters, and Sam Riegel has been the main English voice of Phoenix Wright ever since Dual Destinies, where everyone got official spoken lines in cutscenes.
Phoenix Wright absolutely is the main character btw, it's just a text-based game so most of the lines are not spoken. An absolute delight to find this on Halloween, thank you!
15:12 Lisa Frank Castle isn't a relative of the Punisher, it's a combination of Lisa Frank, which in the 90's was a line of (I believe mostly) school supplies for girls, that were bright & multi-colored, so it's Lisa Frank + Frank Castle = Lisa Frank Castle
The Halloween costume for 2021 was their Second episode of Campaign 3. They were joking that their new fans will be super confuse about who they were. 😂 BTW, Sam was on Dom and Billy podcast, Friendship Onion.
Lisa Frank is a name of a product line with a cutesy art style - kinda like Hello Kitty, but no mascot. MEGA popular in the 90s in the US, but not so much now. It has hyper saturated colors, usually rainbow themed, and it's marketed to young girls. Back in the day the art was everywhere, and printed on a LOT of things related to school, like backpacks and binders, to get the parents to buy into the latest fad. I had the stickers, which I think was the best seller. I'm guessing Marisha found that rainbow Punisher shirt and decided to make a pun costume. Honestly, Marisha is barely old enough to have lived through the Lisa Frank domination. Or maybe I shouldn't be comparing fad timelines in california to kentucky.
Speaking of Matt's Geralt cosplay, Doug Cockle aka the voice of Geralt in the games is a part of another d&d actual play called Natural Six here on TH-cam.
The guy you couldn't remember is Zac :) Great catch on Taliesin's Kid Omega costume! Matt's costumes are always fantastic, he's a cosplayer from way back :D I look forward to the Halloween episodes SO MUCH every year. It's always 4 hours of deeply emotional storytelling while trying to take everyone seriously in funny eyebrows. For some reason the Halloween episodes tend to be the ones where they go directly for the feels. Also they all usually get uncontrollable giggles at least once during the episode, and it brings me so much joy. The episode with Taliesin DMing and the video game costumes was part 2 of the Vampire one-shots he ran, iirc? "Thursday By Night" I think? They were fun :) (He also DMed the fantastic Call of Cthulhu one-shot "Shadow of the Crystal Palace" which is well worth watching if you haven't seen it yet.) Not sure if you talked over it or caught it, the costumes for 2019 were all characters they had voiced in games.
The clip of them in their costumes that Matt and Marisha aren’t in… is part of a 2-shot called “Thursday by Midnight” and this is part 2. You should watch both episodes they are pretty funny and you’ll see why Matt and Marisha weren’t there. 😂
Their costumes have always been so creative, way more than i could ever be. Watching CR (& a few other similar channels) is what got me in to D&D. Oh & subbed up btw.
Fun fact about that power rangers game. It was produced by Saban so it’s technically cannon. AND if you read the power ranger comics they also make an appearance in them as well.
Appreciate the support Zappy, hopefully soon because I need to get back to my let’s play but there will be an announcement for when the next one will be at some point in the community posts ✌🏻
The one they dressed up as each other was literally the second episode of campaign 2. Im sure it was quite a thing to experiencebfor anyone starting out cr for the first time
my only critique here is some of the audio is a touch low but it is a great video! i love their Halloween costume episodes and if you have not seen them i highly suggest looking through their one shots they are so good my favorite which i recommend Nautilus Ark

The 2017 one was when Matt and Marisha were on their honeymoon!!
Part of this year's costumes could be confused for Little Orphan Annie casting call.
Accurate 😂

2017 one is from Thursday by Night part 2

I'm sorry, but every time I see Travis as "Helga" I'm reminded that he played a drag artist in an episode of Nip/Tuck.
I had totally forgotten about that!
I'm a bit new here but i hope you stay inspired your personality is infectious. :)
Travis is technically dressed up as Aragorn AND Boromir, since one of hi PCs is dead. Whole Fellowship represented =P
We need Matt Mercer as Gambit
I fully support this!! 🙌🏻
