I bought a brand new AJS Desert Scrambler in Jan. 2020 ....I "ran it in" carefully, staying below 40mph for the first 200km, and 50mph until 1000km.....{the speedo is in MPH, the odometer is in Km's, but calculating the difference comes easy to me ....50=30, 65=40, 80=50, 100=60 etc} Currently its on 2800km and it now does it now does 60mph even with my 17st on board ....I suspect there may be a little more, but I prefer not to push it beyond its limits. MPG? ....I calculated about 145mpg whilst running it in, although 120 is more realistic now....I run it on E5 petrol when I can {which is most of the time, for now, although for how long will E5 still be available in the UK?} It keeps up with traffic easily on normal "A roads" but TBH, I've not had it on a motorway yet. Using it mainly for gentle "Green Laning" {which is what I bought it for} ...my only complaint is that the front tyre is a little too wide {IMHO, a narrow front tyre is better for loose gravel & the occassional boulder} The interconnected front & rear brake takes some getting used to when "off-roading" ...but with more use of the rear brake than normal it's fine ....and its a definite advantage on tarmac. I service it every 1000km ...more often than recomended, but it does get some harsh treatment whilst "green-laning". The paint & chrome are holding out fine, although there is a little rust on the chain guard. The battery is allegedly hard to access without scratching the side panels, so I keep the bolts holding the exhaust on well greased ....just loosening them off slightly *should* improve access to the battery when I need it. I found the "toolbox" way too small for the tools I like to carry when green-laning, so I bought a leather tool-roll, which fits neatly behind the seat {£16 from "Amazon"} ....this carries a small selecion of spanners, pliers, spare plugs, an aerosol of tyre "gloop" {and yes, it does work with spoked/tubed rims, enough to get you out of trouble anyway} ....plus a few other bits {which I hope I never need} whilst in trouble, several miles from the nearest "road". The bike actually looks larger than a 125, and me, at 6ft & 17st fit on it comfortably....the engine is allegedly based on the Yamaha YBR 125 engine, and built in the same factory {in China} which built the YBR engines for Yamaha. When buying it, I looked at other offerings from Lex-Moto, Bullet & Sinnis ....but the Desert Scramber suited my needs better {and I'll point out here that although the AJS Scrambler is virtually the same bike, the Desert Scrambler has a high level exhaust, and keeping that exhaust up away from stones & rocks could prob'ly save damaging an exhaust which is lower {ie, behind the front wheel} All in all, I'm highly delighted with the bike.
I am madly in love with this thing 😍 That color scheme and that offset fuel cap make me drool. If only this was available in Greece, I'd buy it in a heartbeat Thank you for an excellent review mate, ride safe 🙏
You didn't have to sell this to me, it was already my favourite bike, especially in that colour. Plan on getting one eventually. Fantastic to see that I could get it up to 60 mph. Cheers RB 😊
I really like the look of this bike, I’ve been looking for a 125 since passing in august. Scramblers just hit the mark with me so I shall look at going to see one in person. Thank you for such a wonderful review.
Great little bike, but what happened to the 250cc version i see online at motor bike show year ago? Looked exactly the same but 250cc! An in the same lovely colour?? Come on Ajs please put 250cc version on market as promised!😮
@ True, but the trend is smaller bikes, small roads, seeing the world, lower cost. 150cc means you can carry yourself up .hills a bit better and not hold any traffic up.
I think this video has made my mind up, great little bike 🤩

Very welcome following the other vlogger who got the review wrong
@@RevBombUK 😉👍
Mad how people dont consider other factors like rider weight, weather etc people like to give misinformation too. Keep up the good work RB
Thanks Buddy
What a gorgeous looking bike RB. And lovely to see you open her up under strict SOP's from AJS. Great video, and contender for a next bike.
Thanks buddy much appreciated

Hi Mr Flyer anychance of you being able of doing a review of the new AJS BILSTON 125CC?
@davidmarno5101 if I get one in yes 😁😁😁
Its a pit they didn't put enduro flick mirrors on
Its a YBR engines isn't it, looks like it. If you put 150cc barrel and piston on it, they will do 80😂
Personally more speed get a bigger bike
