And that opportunity represented itself. I now have a pristine 2020 model. It had 4,200 km on it at purchase last November. I love it. It reminds me of my XT500 in the '80s, only with a Sportster engine in it.
Oh man i love this retro wave, 2 days ago i felt in love with the Triumph Street Twin and now i see this thing. I hope it will come to Europe because i want to buy a bike next year and this thing is like a time travel back to the 70´s, when bikes looked how they should look! Awesome!
I completely agree about the position of the turn signals. To me they, and the taillight, need to be lower down along the rear fender. Besides looking better, this would allow for mounting a rear rack, something which was very common on this type of bike back in the 70s.
Oh what would be awesome to see is a close up hq video of hand controls and such as well as how the seat comes off and the storage under the seat. I have been curious about them for some time.
I sat on one of these the other day and could not believe how heavy it felt. Like forget taking it on a dirt road and saving the front end of it starts to slide.
Looks interesting, I hope they bring it to the UK. Looks great from some angles, not quite right from others but as always needs viewed in the flesh. Thanks for the ride, I think "new bike" shake downs are my favorite part of the channel
I had an opportunity to test ride the SCR 950 this past weekend. Yamaha was having a Demo Ride day at one of the local dealerships. I was hoping to fall in love with this bike, but there was a couple little things I didn't like. The heel of my right foot would sit on the exhaust. Not a very comfortable position. When at a stop, the pegs would hit the back of my legs which was a little annoying. Both minor complaints, but over time it's the little things that will drive you crazy.
These are selling new at a dealership nearby for 2,999.99 I noticed. That's a huge discount from retail. They have at least 10 or more of them. No kidding. They are the charcoal grey though, I would have to have red.
No one bought em. Yamaha already removed it from their line-up. There's a dealership near me with them heavily discounted, but not nearly as big as what you've got at your dealership...wow! lol
I hope Yamaha have these in the uk and with a colour scheme similar to xt 500 with black/alloy tank and gold wheels. Old style speedometer. Is the seating position and seat comfortable? Looks all good to me
hageman customs inspired . Would like to know wha little modifications i can make to this one so it get a beefier front / or is it just the head light ?
Oh man, my first "big" bike was a DT 125 and the paint and mirrors are straight up off it! Lol, I'm now doing down memory lane which was my neighbors yard! Lol
I live in Japan does not have a release date. I think this is a great motorcycle. I think that the launch of this bike is the majority of Japanese want. Even though the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, it will not be released in Japan. It is a very sad event. Your video was great. I shed excitement of tears.
+Motovlog - It's crazy how they decided who gets what and when..! I think they miss the mark a lot of times. This bike would be a riot to bomb around Japan on! So much fun to ride... Did you see the release of the 2017's today? Any chance you'll get it for 2017? Thanks!!
I want to travel off-road. Now, I want a candidate there are two. One is this motorcycle. And the other one is the YAMAHA XT250. Timing that I determine is when you test drive the bike in Japan. If this bike can enjoy the off-road, I want this bike. I subscribe to your program. I am already your fans. And, it is enthusiastic fan of your motorcycle. I think I want to enjoy your video from Japan.
Shawn, I like this bike much better than the bolt because it's less a sporty wanna be. I also like the riding position. Do you prefer this over the Bolt??
I decided not to wait for this bike and went with the Harley 48. I guess the only thing I don't like is that digital speedometer and the pegs being so far back. Those tail lights don't impress either.
Sounds nice. I am coming round to this bike. A bit heavy, but evidently it is carried low. I wish it had tubeless tyres; cross-spoke wheels would have been nice. A digital speedo with an analogue tach sweeping around the outside like on my Yamaha MT-01 would look better than this diall.
love the look of it and how it just don`t look like a crazy sports bike or a crazy harley it is something between but i hate how quiet it is ffs it is a classic motorbike it should have a awesome sound like harley
I still dot get why they wouldn't use the engine that comes in the fz07. a 900cc engine is way too big for a scrambler. this thing is just a bolt with different seat and sticker package
+Jeffry Willem - You know Jeffry, I do not know what this bike sells for..? Yamaha's website will give you MSRP... We have tons of them! If you are anywhere near Vancouver, WA. give Pro Caliber a call, I bet they'll make you a great deal on one! Thanks for watching!
"Brake lights brake.." :D Loved the review! Apparently us here in Europe we will have to wait long to even see this thing, but excited for it nevertheless... I really like the way it looks, like something I always imagine a motorcycle should look like. The only gripe I have is with the dash - I like the round shape, but it just drives me nuts that it has that rectangular cutout for the digital display.. and not even in the center!?! :D But that's just nitpicking.. Just had to sub to your channel! Really dig your attitude!
OK ... All of The Bikes Are Awesome !!! ... But ... You Need To Relay More Info Than Just Awesome ... I Would Like To Know ... Weight - HO - Tork - Seat Height - Etc - Keep Vblogging.
I have small windows of time to break away from the job I'm working on and take these bikes for rides, far more often then not with no camera to record them. With something spontaneous like this, I haven't even looked at the specs yet, so instead of guessing or misquoting, I provide a link at the top of the description for the manufactures web site. And to be honest, I don't do spec quoting videos anyway, as they are so unimportant to me in deciding weather I like a bike or not... Thanks for watching and commenting William!
The man is at work here....but, google took me 1 min. to find it. It seems that Yamaha loves this engine. Same one I have in my Star 950 tourer. www.yamahamotorsports.com/sport-heritage/models/scr950
I'm in a very hard spot... now that I'm ready to buy an 883 I wonder if I should go used and upscale or maybe even consider this here Yammy. Which is awesome and definitely a throwback in many ways. When all said and done, I would and will most likely go w/ the 883.
883s have no power, poor brakes, wooden suspension, clunky trannys and I hate to propagate myths, but they blow oil from new. Check out Revzillas review of the 883, Lemmys boots are covered in oil. Its pathetic what people buy because Harley that would not be acceptable from a Chinese scooter factory.
I love how they dropped the "wanna-be Iron 883"-look with this thing with only minimal changes to the original design. The tank alone would be enough reason for me to want the SCR ... reminds me so much of the old XT500. Unlike the Bolt, I would actually consider this bike over a Sportster. With the Bolt, I'd feel like I'm riding around on a "Pepsi"-bike. But since the SCR harkens back to awesome Yamaha-classics, I'd say it is a "Coca-Cola"-bike... ;)
And that opportunity represented itself. I now have a pristine 2020 model. It had 4,200 km on it at purchase last November. I love it. It reminds me of my XT500 in the '80s, only with a Sportster engine in it.
Same here, bought a 2020 one in April this year with 1400 miles on it, as new condition. Done 800 miles, loving it. 😊
@@dragoclarke9497 They are great bikes, aren't they.
Looks really cool, nice lazy v-twin for cruising around, standard riding position. Neat concept.
Oh man i love this retro wave, 2 days ago i felt in love with the Triumph Street Twin and now i see this thing. I hope it will come to Europe because i want to buy a bike next year and this thing is like a time travel back to the 70´s, when bikes looked how they should look! Awesome!
Its sick how you can just go instant recall on the names of all those bikes. Your excitement is contagious!
Besides the 'retro' look, you didn't describe anything related to performance. What a trip! What a jip!
Your passion for this motorcycle is just awesome. True biker at his best not often you see that in videos. 😉
I completely agree about the position of the turn signals. To me they, and the taillight, need to be lower down along the rear fender. Besides looking better, this would allow for mounting a rear rack, something which was very common on this type of bike back in the 70s.

about another month and I'll have one of these myself. what a time to be alive
I love how much you love motorcycles
Looks interesting, I hope they bring it to the UK. Looks great from some angles, not quite right from others but as always needs viewed in the flesh. Thanks for the ride, I think "new bike" shake downs are my favorite part of the channel
It reminded me of an XT/TT 500 styling from the late seventies. Very cool bike.
I can't stop seeing videos of this beautiful toy. looks like the XT 500 of the 80's
That was a joy... I enjoyed... Thank you' again
Love the DT/ RD looking modernized paint scheme as well as the retro mirrors.....nice
Cool thing, Only thing that worries me is the belt final drive on the dirt?
I had an opportunity to test ride the SCR 950 this past weekend. Yamaha was having a Demo Ride day at one of the local dealerships. Loved it, had to watch twice lol, wouldn't let me give two thumbs up
Thanks very cool bike. Didn't Yamaha make a DT 400 in 1974 that color
Stopped by the local Yamaha dealer today. I am ready for this. What I would like to see is a British Racing Green.
Bike is looking good, been liking the retro theme the dealers have been bringing back....
These are selling new at a dealership nearby for 2,999.99 I noticed. That's a huge discount from retail. They have at least 10 or more of them. No kidding. They are the charcoal grey though, I would have to have red.

Where is this? Lowest they are up here in NY/PA is 4500
I hope Yamaha have these in the uk and with a colour scheme similar to xt 500 with black/alloy tank and gold wheels. Old style speedometer.
Is the seating position and seat comfortable?
Looks all good to me
Love it! HARLEY DAVIDSON MADE A DAMN SCRAMBLER! If Harley developed a scrambler off the Street 750 engine I'd buy 2
This bike is cast wheels/tubeless tire away for a go. Yes I change my own tire s and am tubed out and hate stopping riding when I can plug and go!
hageman customs inspired . Would like to know wha little modifications i can make to this one so it get a beefier front / or is it just the head light ?
Imho the Bike would be better off with a high level style twin muffler flattrack type exhaust.
How do your legs feel resting on the engine parts sticking out?
Still waiting for a sport heritage version of the fz-07
I had an old 75 Dt250 that this re!inds me of, same paint scheme, I'm getting one for the nostalgic value!
Yamaha are going to sell loads of these if they come to the UK!! Hope the price is good!

thx Fred. thats more info than the entire video. I wonder how the brakes, transmission, suspension are.
Is that the stock can? sounds great!
@Shawn smoak I Knew I saw that bike pad costless!! Also I love that Indian showroom
Shawn, what do you use to record video? gopro or something else?
like it very much - Yam will sell a lot of them. Yamaha are THE bike manufacturer right now!
is there much difference between this one and the bolt?
Hey Shawn, how does the SCR950 Scrambler compare to the XSR900>?>
Are the lights on the dash visible in daylight
Oh man, my first "big" bike was a DT 125 and the paint and mirrors are straight up off it! Lol, I'm now doing down memory lane which was my neighbors yard! Lol
Ciao quanti cm da terra a sotto motore?

Motovlog this bolt looks awesome but if you are more into offroad riding, trust me the lighter the bike the better.
I love motorcycles all motorcycles, this is a beauty
Shawn, I like this bike much better than the bolt because it's less a sporty wanna be. I also like the riding position. Do you prefer this over the Bolt??
Looks like a modern xt500 v cool 😀
yamaha has been making some great products the last few years
I love to see again the DT400 series 2 stroke
those look like the mirrors from my 74 honda xl250
ciao come va questa moto la consigli?
I decided not to wait for this bike and went with the Harley 48. I guess the only thing I don't like is that digital speedometer and the pegs being so far back. Those tail lights don't impress either.
I Know That You Do Not Give Tech Info. But You Could Link To Pro Caliber For Them To Give Tech Info On Their Bikes That You Ride.
A belt final drive is not good to use in the dirt. However, let's be real. Whomever, buys this bike is an old guy dreamer. For a guy like me.
When are they gonna make a Ducati Desert Sled slayer out of this platform?
Beautiful bike, but why a digital speedometer on a retro bike? why?
That is a cool bike! Nice video.
Like it.. hate the speedometer
is there a RPM indicator on that dial?
thanks.
to :Shawn Smoak
with a smaller rear fender and less obnoxious tail lights/rear blinkers this thing would be perfect
So excited for this bike!!
It's much better than the Bolt design, but it's not a scrambler. Scramblers are light with lots of clearance for off road.
Looks great, thanks for the ride review.
It seems like it vibrates a lot!!!
you like it
A bike I wish I'd bought when I had the opportunity.
Very nice! I'd love one with a high pipe scrambler style! Too many bikes, too little garage space, too little wallet B-)
why street tires ?
love the look of it and how it just don`t look like a crazy sports bike or a crazy harley it is something between but i hate how quiet it is ffs it is a classic motorbike it should have a awesome sound like harley

They stuck a Virago engine in a TT500 frame--way cool but probably too expensive.
I love that look! Very nice... Great info, thank you!
Lol I like that sounds you make
Wow that is a beautiful bike!!!!!
Thanks Shaw for the video, It's cool as the Bike I was thinking to buy, now I convinced to go for it. ;)
I have the same mirrors on my xt250, from 2013
I have the same mirrors on my DT400, from 1977 ;-)
Oh my god he set the mirrors BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!!!! He left the shop!!!!!!'mmnm
Great vid!!!
beautiful bike
Man that looks like a fun bike
Price ?
+Jeffry Willem - You know Jeffry, I do not know what this bike sells for..? Yamaha's website will give you MSRP... We have tons of them! If you are anywhere near Vancouver, WA. give Pro Caliber a call, I bet they'll make you a great deal on one!

+BrokeWar - Really? That's cool, thanks for the info, and of course for watching. Take care
"Brake lights brake.." :D

That clock looks like it came out of a jamboree bag! Give me your Iron any day.
Daniel Stern . The voice from The Wonder years. And the villain from Home Alone lol
Really Cool! I love RETRO!!
Yamaha knows how to design a winning scrambler or dual purp bike.

Sat on one an knew i did not want it, a seriously top heavy bike.
This looks great! :-)
おぅなんだこれ!いい音してるしスタイルもかっこいい
So cool of a motorcycle
Cool bike but if I was going to spend that kind of money I think I will buy a Harley 883? Where would you put your money? Ride Safe
I'm in a very hard spot... now that I'm ready to buy an 883 I wonder if I should go used and upscale or maybe even consider this here Yammy. Which is awesome and definitely a throwback in many ways. When all said and done, I would and will most likely go w/ the 883.

Very, veeeery nice bike. I'm afraid, we won't see it in Germany due to the new Euro4 laws coming in 2017.

Buy it!!!
cool looker
Way too heavy for intended purpose. should have used a smaller lighter starting point
Should have been half the weight.
