Hey Flower Tribe, It’s Kelly Lehman owner of Cranbury Fields Flower Farm in Cranbury NJ and today I want to show you How Deep to Plant Daffodil Bulbs in Fall.
Autumn is the best time to plant these daffodil bulbs in your garden after night time temps have cooled off to about 40-50 degrees. My favorite types of daffodil flowers are the double daffodils . These daffodils have double petals and look similar to small yellow peony spring flowers . They make for a super addition to your garden or landscaping .
Plant these daffodil bulbs pointy side up just as you would plant a tulip bulb and root side down . Allium bulbs are planted the same way. The planting depth of the daffodil bulb should be 2-3 times the size of the bulb. I hope you enjoyed this how to - gardening tip video . Please join us for more videos by subscribing to my channel.

Your videos are such a huge help! We bought a house 4 years ago and I just noticed daffodils last year. They planted them so close to the fence and I'm going to dig them up and put them somewhere else. This was very helpful.

Squirrels, mice, voles, and deer do not like daffodils. They do like tulips, however, so a good way to prevent your tulips from getting eaten is to mix them in with the daffodils. You might still lose some, but not near as many, if any. PS - I've never tried the double dafs, but I might have to try them after seeing your video! They're very pretty!!!

Thanks for the video. I couldn't listen with sound (hubby is napping!), but it was still very helpful. I am planting dwarf daffodil bulbs this coming week. I have never done it before - how far apart should they be? Also - your dog is GORGEOUS! :)

I’ve put some in pots and watered right after planting. Do I water them again between now and when the first leaves come up? Or do I just leave them? They’ll be getting some rain anyway.

Yes you can . They look great in pots . Make sure the planting pot has good drainage holes .
How do you squirrel proof your bulbs for the season?
You can use chicken manure, animal hair or humain hair and put on the ground. You can also use a chicken wire some few inches in the ground over your bulb or buy yourself à kalachnikov... no just kidding 😈😆. You can also feed your squirrel but i think its illegal. Squirrel are very territorial, so that's why when the see hair on the ground the think they gonna figth for the place and prefer leave. But daffodil are toxic they will never eat them or just one time 😱.
We have some double daffodils that have buds every year but never open!(turn brown) Do you know what is wrong and what we need to do? We live in N.C. Zone 7-8.
Hmmmm , I’m not sure why they are. It opening . My first guess would have been that maybe you had an early warm spell instead winter that made them bloom too early and then a cold freeze came that made them turn brown but then I saw you are in NC so that’s probably not the case . Have you had you soil tested recently? Maybe it’s due to a lack of nurtrients in the soil . 🌸🌼
