Definitely a marvellous career of a legendary bowler with an astonishing record. But how did his 800 wickets changed cricket? Surely a moment to remember but nothing of those sort that changed how cricket is played.
Tushar Raj exactly.. it should have been named 25 moments in cricket to remember by.. they have not included South Africa’s unfortunate loss in 1992 world cup semifinal when due to rain their target was revised to 22 to win from 1 ball which lead to formulate new D/L method as we know today.. and many more incidents like that
@@gratitudesingh9875 I was actually looking forward to episodes like that. Trevor Chappell's last ball to NZ which made underarm bowling illegal from then on... Ind vs Aus Sydney Test in 2008 which almost certainly was responsible for DRS... and so on. But they keep showing us average episodes irrevelent to the title. It's just clickbait.
I am proud sri lankan and big murali fan. But this isn't something that changed the cricket. Most of listed 25 things are not incidents that change the cricket. Implementing D/L method, murali s no ball calling thing, sanath and kalu partnership in odis can define as things that change the cricket....
Mulrali has only played 133 matches. And in this generation Anderson has played over 170. And most likely there will be others who plays more than 130 matches. But to keep his level of consistency throughout a 2 dacade long career is the hard part.
Actually it was the umpires who changed cricket by calling him. The result was an ICC investigation that found that many international bowlers including Glenn McGrath were in the 9-15% range.
I think his record will be broken, but not for the reason they mentioned. The T20 format of the game has changed the way batsmen go about their task. They are far more impatient and aggressive towards compiling quick runs at the expense of increasing the risk of sacrificing their wicket. An entire generation of batsmen are about to come into the game that grew up watching T20 heroes swing for 6s instead of effective, but ultimately protective batsmen in Tests. Meanwhile, test bowlers have always been extremely wicket focused in their aggressiveness. It's going to be a perfect storm.
A good point. I'm becoming more and more underwhelmed by test batting performances across the board these days. Smaller and smaller totals, wickets falling for no reason at all...
Anderson and broad have 3.5 wickets per match , they both need to play 225 test matches to break it . Rabada is 27 and has played since last 8 years (2years lost due to Covid ) he has 280 wickets in 60 matches . So if he playes 10 test matches per year , and if he retires at 40 . He got still 130 matches . And if he takes 4 wickets per match , he surely will , that will be 520 wickets . Two player who look like breaking Murali record at the moment is Rabada and Afridi from Pakistan , he is only 23. He has played only 25 test matches . Let’s see how fit they can stay !
Yeah in very starting of his career Australian cricket board and empires tried to destroy his career and used to called him wild etc then he showed the magic.

But still being a Bowling fan I was also excited to know someone took 800 Test Wickets & that I also got to watch it Live. Now I feel how unfortunate it could've been had he missed it, it would've been just like Bradman's.
Ashwin won't surpass Murali unless he becomes about 5 times better at bowling overseas. He is sitting at 5.2 wickets per match currently and that is due mainly to playing on Indian spinning pitches. To put this into perspective, in England Murali took 8 wickets per match at an average of 19.2. Ashwin took around 3.4 wickets per match at an average of around 36. He needs to improve this significantly if he wants the record.
@@grayscarab5784 Yes I agree. I want Indian Bowlers in general to do well overseas but I also want Indian pitches to be a bit diverse (like some Seaming pitches) to allow our Bowlers (esp Spinners) to develop skills required to do well overseas.
