Writer and comedian Barry Cryer reminisces about his life and career in front of a live studio audience. First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on 25 March 1999.
I had the immense honour of meeting and working with Barry Cryer. He was indeed as wonderful and generous as all the tributes say. I loved him, his performances, stories and writing. Thank you so much for putting this up. I shed a tear for him last week, as I am doing again now. He was so special.
Thank you very much for posting this. Had me grinning from beginning to end. Most of us really don't know just how much of other British humourists 'funny bits' actually originated with Mr Cryer. He will be missed and certainly no future comics will ever match his wit and gentle style.
This morning I woke up I heard the the sad news that Barry Cryer have died I'd be we knew Barry Cryer very well had living in Hatch End Middlesex. About a week ago has Barry Cryer worth waiting at a bus stop my friend was out on his morning run and Barry Cryer stopped and spoke to my friend Neil and said you must be cold those shorts which made him smile. Also I was at the last I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue live which was the last time Tim Brooke-Taylor was on stage and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue and also Barry Cryer made a guest appearance as well he was still in in top form. I have met Barry Cryer on numerous occasions notably in the Hatch End Morrisons supermarket and also at his concerts at the Arts Centre. Top class performer writer and after dinner speaker will never see his like again. I broke down when I heard the news by also feel sorry for his dear wife. But thank you very much for that really miss Parry choir program 41999 please keep Barry Cryer coming please. X
17:18 Reminds me of an US actress who went with her young niece to a sort of show and tell at the girl's elementary school - the girl and she stood in front of the class, and the girl announced "This is my aunt - she is an actress - that means she pretends to be other people for a living!" Kind of puts the profession into perspective....
Barry Cryer, a genius.... Totally underrated...Check this man out.....

You could listen to Barry for hours. Never a bad word and never a curse, just good fun and jokes from a life well lived. What a loss.
One of the very few, truly great human beings. Much missed.
