how cool is this to see all these nostalgic bikes on track! what i would give to feel the power of a 500cc 2 stroke racebike . even in the early 80's they had about 160hp and weighing in under 300lbs that makes for an awesomely powerful package...
Awesome job with the onboard camera. I wish they were always set up just like that. Very clear and a fantastic look at the track and the man ahead of you. Very fun to watch.
I love the juxtaposition, the old 500cc GP machine, the new street superbike. It speaks volumes of how far we have come in road bikes. I'd love to see this at Phillip Island, its a pretty tight little track this one.
My dad and grandpa have told me so much about Fast Freddie! They use to go watch him on the dirt tracks here in Texas when he was a kid. Wish I could have seen him race in person is all!
@Pedthefox, you are sooooo right, behold the power of a 500cc 2 stroke. Light, fast, and wicked fun, the ultimate race bike. So sad to see them pushed out in their prime by a company with a 4 stroke agenda. I will always be a faithful follower of the almighty 2 stroke.
I would need a helmet size double the size I normally wear if I hung with fogarty and spencer even in their retirement! Good job buddy! Hell yeah I'd have this video up too!
@biz360 I rather think Freddie was holding off, track day, 30yo bike, lots of ordinary ride day punters around. He seemed to button off and free-wheel quite early, get on the brakes quite early. I think if the track was empty and Freddie took off, Ben Spies might be able to run with him on an R1 superbike, but not many others could. Did you see the way he could fire it out of slow corners?!? Geeez! Not bad for an old man. 8-)
Fantastic. Although obviously not race fit his lines after a few laps were more or less spot on. A perfect example of the gap between GP racers (no matter how old) and mere mortals!!!!

emotions of a golden age .... unforgettable!
Freddie is still fast. Looks like he got progressively faster with each lap. You have a great job to get to go ride with those race legends!

So refreshing to hear that fantastic 2-stroke again. Freddie's still got it!

who's on the Duc at the end???
Behold the power of a 500 2 strokes!
This was like a warming-up-lap No way that F. S. drives that slow in competition. I've been driving RR so I should know what real speed looks like.
that R1 sounds like a beast. I'm really wanting one. I just don't like the look of the front end.
@motorcyclenewsdotcom it sounds very powerful
the best 2 stroke....
