      I don't want to count the costs for Yellowbirb because its just a giant idea experiment platform lol
      But the 1970 Subaru FF1 I restored I did count when I sold it 11 years ago and it was over $35k and wasn't nearly finished :x

      Is there difference between jdm sti 6 speed and the usdm sti 6 speed manual transmission?

    • @traviscea
      @traviscea  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @B.R.BGarage There is. JDM ones have a shorter ratio 5th and 6th. Bad for highway mileage, great for the track though.

      @ PS, in about 1995 I started building up my 1988 firebird formula 350 ( I bought in the military, ordered it new from AAFES) for a little bracket racing and some SCCA potential. Things were a lot different then, car mags and word of mouth at meets and at the track were how you got the scoop on the right parts for good builds. I bored & stroked the 350 to a 383, put on some AFR heads, a performance chip and thermostat (critical back then) a mild cam, some intake mods, and all PST poly bushings underneath ( it was a WS6 car so it had proper springs, shocks, brakes and rear) and I think some Goodyear gator backs. I ran really consistent 13.2-5 in the 1/4 and I ran the canyons near Denver pretty fearlessly as well. Never got into SCCA unfortunately. I’ve had a dozen cars since then that I have built up but I miss that one the most. Listening to you tally up your costs, I saw the same look on your face I had- I spent some money, but it was worth it for the fun I had

On a budget with considerable tuning and good driver’s experience it’s came a long way. 400whp at 2600lb has to be a wild ride. With the oil pan baffle and pickup, are you still using the OEM pan? I have a new OEM oil pan, and a killerB baffle/pickup combo sitting in a box in my garage for my STI and have been hesitant to install it because I only want to pull the pan once and have been struggling with whether or not I should drop 300 for a killer b pan instead of using the new OEM pan I got with the combo.

    • @traviscea
      @traviscea  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I still have the OEM STI pan. The STI pan is much better than the WRX one and the oil sits much higher. The killer b and iag pans provide greater capacity and you can't go wrong, but I personally don't think there are necessary. The pickup and baffle though, for sure.
