Used to watch Biggs until he left swtor. After a long time I came across your guides and was fascinated by your approach and presentation. They are so informative and interesting that they are worth thousands of likes and subscriptions.
Subbing to you. I just returned to SWTOR after an absence of 12 years or so (old OG player here), and while i played Merc, PT, Assasin and Mara back in the day, I wanted to do something completely different. This guide and Ivano L33t's are great, but yours is so indepth, I can literally start right away, understanding my Sniper completely. All thats left is gaining player experience in PvE and PvP with it. Wonderful work.
wtf this is a premium guide. i just started to play swtor again after 10 years. and this helps me alot. super clean voice, good edit. thanks you very much!
thanks for this, ive been trying to learn but all the guides are way to confusing. this really goes into details about EVERYTHING. also, great editing once again. THANKS
Coosh - how do you handle switching between multiple adds, for example in Draxus NIM where you are constantly switching targets? Do you reapply 2 dots every time you switch to new add OR just continue rotation where you left off?
On a fight like draxus it's more optimal to dot spread to adds in phases where they would live long enough to be effective dmg. Generally what I do is only apply corrosive nade then suppressive fire the adds. Because wasting a gcd to apply your corrosive dart then corrosive nade will be a net negative in terms of dps because they adds have little health and die to cleave quickly. When dealing with target swapping, just dot the adds up then focus your dmg onto the boss/main target. Don't get too fixated on dotting everything up because wasting 8 gcds dotting all the adds that have no hp especially when you have 3 other dps hitting them wont be optimal. I hope this helps.
On Draxus it's more optimal to use a different tactical. It's called Ultraviolet Blast, which allows you to burst all your dots down instantly on a target when you use your weakening blast, then reapply them with cull. Because your weakening blast resets on target kill if it dies within 10 seconds, you can reliably do Dart > Grenade > WB > cull then Dart another target that already has Grenade and WB again and repeat for every add. This lets you do way more burst damage and works so well on that fight. This tactical is also amazing for fights like Styrak, top floor Thrasher, Brontes, etc. Anytime there's a lot of adds where you need to burst down and then target swap or when there's short burst windows like Styrak Chain Manifestation, this tactical will shine much more. I understand this is a lot to take in, as this is an entirely different playstyle and rotation and requires a good understanding of your class and the fight in order to use it well. Until you're more comfortable on your class, I'd suggest to listen to Scooby's advice. You will notice a large damage increase on those certain fights though if you're able to apply this other tactical well.
Quick question… I’m looking for a beginner/Endgame build. Do you think this build is good in the harder content? If so this build will probably be my forever build!
Yeah these stats will be good for everything! (I’ve done all the NiM raids with this build except gods) and Scooby (who peer reviewed) has done Gods with this build.
Thanks for the guide. Haven't played green goo since 2.0 and the massive nerf to Viral Snipers. Slight change to old rotation but not by much. Used to be 3+cull but had more affect from Alacrity. Sniper/Gunslinger are my favorite and have all my tech classes off spec as one of them. Time to make one of them drop green everywhere. 🤮
Hey bro, thank You for guide. Awesome as always! I want to ask - what do you think about engi right now, is it worth trying? Some people say that viru is the best, others say engi... I`m just a type of player that like to concentrate on one spec and maximize its output. Have a nice time😄
Sorry for the late response! I think Engi is very good but I do agree Viru is better. Engi is good on some fights where Viru is usually ALWAYS good on fights (some fights in can be rough cause of moving). If you HAD to choose one to master Id say Viru, you'd be able to get more out of it!
Thank you for the video. I like Viru sniper and I appreciate the update. Question, though...Is it wise leveling a sniper with either Virulence or Engineering since you won't have the optimized gear? I am currently leveling using Marksman and it is so trash and boring.
Why not Engineering/Saboteur? Rotation is WAY easier and dps seems to be at least as good if not better (I personally parse much higher with Eng/Sab, and Parsely seems to show it higher as well).
Is it really necessary to use the cover mechanic? I don’t really like that, I like to move and strafe around a bit while in combat and not sitting there stationary… because I think in the rotation there are no abilities that require the cover right? The only thing I remember was suppressive fire but that’s not necessary for the normal dot rotation
If you use Ballistic Dampers or Vital Regulators ability tree choices (which you should most of the time), then you have to use cover/crouch or they won't work. And another of your best defensives, Entrench, requires being in cover/crouch.
Here it goes….. 1. PYRO 2. ANNI 3. VIRU 4. JUGG (for cleave in a group) 5. IO And I honestly can’t say the rest unfortunately. I haven’t personally played others this expansion in NiM raids. I know hatred is very strong sub 30 but those I mentioned above are all I’ve been seeing in endgame raids for the most part. But even tho I haven’t played the others Pyro is absolutely #1. I put Anni #2 cause it does good damage and the raid utility with the heals/pred can’t be ignored. I firmly believe if you know 1 out of Pyro/Anni/Viru you’ll be golden!
Is this viable in all endgame? And second question, how difficult is it compared to pyrotech? I am unsure which one to play... I did play pyro a bit, at low level and seems fun, a bit too many buttons to press so I may have a problem with that under pressure when I need to dodge things.
Yes Id say Virulence is viable in about 99% of boss fights. Like for example Sniper is a bad choice for Nahut cause of all the constant moving. Imo its currently the best range DPS spec. I personally would always choose to play Pyro first, but say I HAD to choose range my first choice would be Viru. I think in terms of rotation Viru is easier.
Once you get your Accuracy to 2700 get your alacrity to 2054 (Its recommended to go over this by at least an aug to make up for ping, 2054 is the point youll get a 1.4 gcd). Then Id just toss the rest into crit.
Hey, i know this comment is probably very late considering it is 2 months ago, but i have some questions because i am literally a newbie and i feel like i suck at SWTOR beyond saving. I have been playing Virulence Sniper as of now, is there anything i can do right now in the early like story game where i have not every level to do what is being said here? Is there anything i can compensate early on? I have the SWTOR premium thingy if that's something important to note. I primarily want to play the story and enjoy the game that way without losing too much time on enemies and still being able to clear the content, i also play with another friend that is playing Gunslinger and we kinda cover each other currently
@@TakesCooosh Thanks a lot for the quick answer, we are around 35 ish, so we are getting towards the levels of 36. It has been cool as of now, i was also thinking about going secondary Operative for stealth. Is that a wise choice or a mistake i should try not to do?
Since virulence uses more alacrity than crit, the crit relic is used to compensate the lack of crit. Other specs that run low alacrity use the power relic.
@@scooby6661 okay, does that count for all specs? So every spec using more alacrity should use a mastery instead of a power relic? (e.g merc heal or madness sorc)
There is currently only one spec besides Virulence, that is using the crit relic instead of the power relic: On Lightning you want to go for the 1.3 GCD, which means you invest in a lot of alacrity, so the crit relic is actually worth it. (And please note, that Madness uses the exact same alacrity values as most other specs, so you want to run something like 2.3k alac and 3k crit, so go for mastery/power relics. Healers in general have a lot of crit, because they dont have to invest into accuracy, so you still rock the mastery/power relics.) Hope this answers your question.

Yeah unfortunately :/ i do use it when an enemy is close to death rather than reapply dots but that’s about it!
