Instead of the premade scent you can use shrimp head insides (it's kinda like crab butter) and it will work the same but it will smell bad if you don't use it fast so prepare it the night before going fishing and leave it in the fridge
@higherpurpose1212 When I made it, it was wintertime, so I only got to test how good it stays on the hook..which it did great. So im about to make another batch and test if the fish will eat it.
First, thanks for trying this and including the measurements as I screen shot the recipe from this video. As someone else mentioned, the video of the guy from fla that did this originally has been removed I had it saved in my favs and is now gone..wonder why/or what happened? So I'm making a batch now with shrimp/sandflea chum and found a small half-moon ice tray that should work closely to a sandflea mold resemblance. Thanks again and tight lines.
@dangareau i didn't get to really try it , but i am making a video in the next few weeks, and i will be using all the baits i have made to see how well they work so stay tuned.
I let mine set in the fridge about 3 to 4 days.. and it was good to go...it was firm enough to stay on a hook. The more gelatin you put in it, the harder it gets.. but i will say from testing it.. Don't leave it in direct sunlight. I'll do another video on making it thicker, and I'll test it out in normal conditions.
@@fishingmisty I have kept it for 3-4 days in the fridge and it was hard, but it melts after taking out from the fridge also it is not under direct sunlight, only in the room temperature.
Then i would say put more gelatin in it. It's almost like you are making gelatin plastic. But i will definitely make another batch and put more gelatin in it and see if that allows you to be able to keep it at room temps without melting. I'll let you know the results. That way you dont have to waste your time and money.
came across this video when I was trying to find the original video I saw a year or two ago that talked about making fish bites/ fishgum. Just can't seem to find the original video anymore.
When I last made this stuff, I used shrimp heads and shells left over after salting some shrimp for bait. Just blended the heads and shells with some water in a blender, then boiled it for a while so it releases all the smell and taste into the water. then strained the solid matter out and used the liquid. (make sure to filter out all particles as they will ruin the gelatin not letting it set properly. If you want to stay on the hook a bit longer, just incorporate a piece of pantyhose in the middle of it, cheaper than cheese cloth and comes off easier when you do want to remove it.
Try adding the YUM AFTER you dissolve the gelatin. Heating the UM to a boil? is destroying the scent molecules. Which will render it ineffective to the fish smell wise.
Great Vid! Who was the guy you mentioned that you got this from? I’m sure I’ve seen it, but the vid has disappeared(?) In fact all of the vids that describe this process have disappeared (??) Hope yours doesn’t! Thanks again for posting it!!
There is a guy who lives in Florida that i got this idea from..he has caught many fish off of it..but as for me i made that back in the winter and never got to really try it out the way i wanted to..im about to do a video on all the bait ive made and test them out in the fall..so keep an eye out for it.

I only used it 1 time so far.. and it was for like 10 minutes, so i really haven't got to test it out the way i want to. But i am going to, in a few weeks, and post the video.
They lasted me a few days in my bag..but started to mold around the 4th day...but of course that was in warm weather..i dont know how long they would last through the winter out in your bag.
I've fished with it in a river, and it stayed on the hook pretty well. But I would say you want it to dissolve some so the scent can attract the fish. I will look up the stuff you mentioned and see if it would work in this. I'm always looking for new ways to make baits, thanks
@@fishingmisty I remember a story about glitter and how it shows up in crazy places. England was talking about banning glitter unless it's biodegradable.
Actually, it doesn't, but a few other subscribers suggested that i put a layer of cheesecloth in it. And that's a good idea to make it stay on the hook better. But when i fished with it, i never had an issue. I fished the Ky River with it, and it stayed on the hook for the whole time.

Deep Water Fishing from Florida. Like your glitter spin. I want to see either of y'all catching fish on it.
Thanks..spring is just around the corner so im hoping to get to test it out sometime in april
I will make a batch and see what I catch

I dig it! Looks good. Alot of flavor options.
Try pouring 1/2 in, add cotton gauze or thin burlap, then add the other 1/2. Stays on hook
Thats a great idea..ill try that

I will also be trying this, trying to imitate the gulp sand worm
Did you try it? If so, how'd it go?

🎣 you mentioned adding cheese cloth! ...
I add Natural cotton pieces into my dough bait sometimes! ... 🎣
Im definitely going to tey that..thanks
It came out good, It is only hard as long as it is in the refrigerator, once it is taken out (30-60) minutes it melts, any solution to it?

Good idea, I will try that and see the outcome.
Very good, perhaps you can make a proper video tutorial especially with the measuring. It will help a lot. Thanks
I will put the measurements in the description if that will help..
@@fishingmisty ok good that will do. Thanks
1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of whatever flavor or scent you would like. 6 tablespoons of unscented gelatin. Add glitter if you would like.
i like it but what about storage? if you vaccum pack them with a lightly Corn starch coat they melt.
Because it is a food product, i havent tried storing them for long periods..i usually just make what i need for that fishing trip.
Cornstarch and silica packet. Or dehydrate them slightly and cornstarch with a silica packet. They melt when hot

Did these catch fish? I use the commercial fish bites and do very well on them, but would be fun to make my own IF it works the same to catch fish!

Can i use on Beach fishing ?
Yes..i actually got this bait idea from a man in Florida who used it fishing in the ocean.

Thanks for subscribing, and that sounds like a good idea, adding different seafood. I hope you catch a lot of fish with it.
Have you caught anything on it yet?

@@fishingmisty Alright, i am looking forward to hearing from you.
Can this be modified into a dip for dunking soft plastics? Or just keep it warm enough to stay a semi viscous liquid?
I dont know..I havent tried anything like that.
Does it float?
No
How about an plastic ice tray
That sounds like a good idea..
How long will they last out fridge. Can I keep them in a plastic container in my bag or do I have to bring them in house after fishing
They lasted me a few days in my bag..but started to mold around the 4th day...but of course that was in warm weather..i dont know how long they would last through the winter out in your bag.
@@fishingmisty you can add potassium sorbate to help preserve it
@Carlton Henry 268 thats a good idea, that way you can keep it in your bag longer.
If you make this try to use edible glitter craft glitter is poisonous
Oh..ok..ill keep that in mind
💯
Like what strippers wear?
Can you add oil
I dont know i havent tried it..i dont see why not..just use oil instead of the gulp spray
Thank you. I just made my first batch tonight with scent and yellow and glow in dark glitter
Now that is cool..glow in the dark glitter..i never thought about that.
did it work? did it catch fish? @@sistagalsfishinadventures5910
The problem with gelatin is it dissolves in Water. Consider using a product called agar agar. Its a seaweed derivative and won’t dissolve
I've fished with it in a river, and it stayed on the hook pretty well. But I would say you want it to dissolve some so the scent can attract the fish. I will look up the stuff you mentioned and see if it would work in this. I'm always looking for new ways to make baits, thanks
Please don't use glitter. It ends up in our food and causes a bunch of issues in the water. Other than that I love this idea.
I'll keep that in mind..im sure they make an edible glitter, but i would have to google it.
@@fishingmisty I remember a story about glitter and how it shows up in crazy places. England was talking about banning glitter unless it's biodegradable.
@comfortablynumb9342 That's crazy. I've never thought about it..but ill be more mindful of it from now on.
doesnt that just disolve in the water
