I only saw (I think it was) one of the other church grounds, (this place had a concession stand), then we had a lunch break in a nearby square, then of course we went to the other church with the bones that are so famous. Maybe one more place briefly, then back to Prague. I'd have come to this city by myself had I known there was so much to see.

Because the ground in the town was not stable enough to build, some mining shafts were even below the town. When they were building the church of St. James it started to tilt due to the crack in the bedrock and here where St. Barbara stands today, was the most solid bedrock to build :)

Hi, very nice video. However I am pretty sure the name Kutná Hora, or the first part of it, is not derived from kutna - monk's robe - and that it is in fact an adjective derived from the verb kutat(i), archaic synonym of kopat, to dig. Thus Kutná Hora means a mountain of digging, or a mountain where they dig. In older literature this town is often being referred to in plural, e.g. v (or na) Horách Kutných, which reveals even more strongly the nature of the word Kutná as an adjective.

Thanks for guessing! It's a good guess but the reason was a little different.
The mining shafts were right below the town and this was the most solid bedrock they could find in the area. Building it within the city was impossible because of the ground instability.

Being young at the time, we missed out on this beautiful town as we had no idea there was much more to see and do.
We were hungover and just did no research except for being told that there was a church full of bones in the town.

Hello! Thank you for the video. Do I need a card to take the bus #11 or #14 ? Or can I pay before getting in the bus? Or online? Thank you!

Yes it is. That's how we would write it if we would make the video for Czech audience 😉 (English keyboards are not really háčky čárky friendly)

Yes, Kutna Hora is a small town. One day should be enough.

Yes, as Tomáš Siegl said. The earlier you leave Prague, the better 😉

@@RealPragueGuides I do not mean Mountain of Monk's robes, the previous older German name for Kutna Hora. Although also a Saxon language the word Kuttenberg in Dutch slang has a complete different translation, better not to be mentioned.
