Amanda I have watched Dixie,Early Riser,Greeter ,Bigfoot, and Big Bird and many more I cant wait to watch your journey I'm a 65 year old man that has a dream of hiking the AT when I retire hope my health holds up until then I will live my dream through you and many more May God bless every step you take on this journey
Amanda - You seem to be very comfortable in the woods and able to maintain a positive attitude, in spite of the yellow jacket stings which feel like a blowtorch on high. Both of these ingredients are essential for a thru hike. Looking forward to your journey - you can do it!
The yellow jackets were terrible this year here in KY. I would urge anyone who isn't positive they aren't allergic to bee/wasp/etc stings to go to the doctor and find out. Helped rescue a lady who got stung on the tongue and was having an allergic reaction this summer. She didn't know she was allergic so she didn't have an epipen. Anyway, glad I found your channel. You all seem super fun, hope Stu makes a return to future videos! Good luck with your AT thru hike.
Amanda, my family and I spent a few nights in the Red River Gorge area this summer. Loved it. We stayed in a tree house operated by Red River Gorgeous. That tunnel your drove through brings back memories. I will be following your hike.
Small world! Stu is my uncle, and when I mentioned I was going to hike Newfound Gap to Clingman's dome, he said look out for peewee. What do you know, I saw you there! I'm excited for you on your AT journey and wish you happy trails.
Excellent first video! I just stumbled on your channel and love it so far. Can't wait to see more videos of your adventures. I always love the videos of people's camp setup so the more the better there. Was your breakfast eggs something you did yourself or was it Mountain House (or something similar) just out of the package? Good luck on your journeys!
AWESOME! VIDEO! GLAD YOU WERE OK EVEN WITH 20 SOME HORNET STINGS KNOW HOW THAT FEELS! YOU'LL MAKE LOOK LIKE SO MUCH FUN! DID YOU TAKE A CERTAIN TRAIL / TRAILS OR DID YOU JUST EXPLORE WHERE EVER YOU WENT! SO BEAUTIFUL! BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! GOD BLESS YOU'LL ALWAYS! I NEED TO GET AWAY! THIS WOULD BE ALL NEW TO ME NEVER DID A LONG COUPLE DAYS TOGETHER! THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME TAG ALONG!
I am curious why you did not set up your zpacs duplex tent instead of sleeping in the car. You and keith coulda been snug as a bug in less than 15 minutes... Love your style and enthusiasm. Looking forward to your hike!
Evan's Backpacking Videos Freaked me out cause I didn't know what was happening. I thought they were some kind of crazy yellow spiders. And I was stuck for a bit where I was (why they got me so bad.) Turns out I'm not allergic. Thank God!
Wikipedia says: "Amanda is a Latin female gerundive name meaning "having to be loved," "deserving to be loved," "worthy of love," or "loved very much by everyone." ... The name "Amanda" first appeared in 1212 on a birth record from Warwickshire, England, and five centuries later the name was popularized by poets and playwrights." I like: "loved very much by everyone". Welcome to the Tramily, Amanda. Nice Job.
You have a unique engaging personality and understand the principles of moving pictures and editing. As a bundle it equates to success and entertainment. It might be more challenging being alone and unable to bounce your creativity off others. Other than that you're in shape, have smart gear, and will make it from A to B if you stop playing with wasps.
robert wood. That was so nice!! I does seem a bit more difficult to film alone. You're right about that. But that's why I'm getting some practice in before hand :) And hopefully I can steer clear of wasps. Lol. Had enough of that. Shew! You can still see where they got me.
Thomas Dolan, it's probably what I'll end up taking. The only thing I don't like is it doesn't really have a bill on the hood. Thinking about waterproofing the bill on my hat. That should work fine. I can probably resist taking an umbrella with that setup (and I love hiking with and umbrella)
When I did a section hike from hot Springs to uncle Johnny's hostile I had the use my rain-gear quite often was a pain in the butt to put on the back cover and then put on my rain jacket with that system one piece of equipment does it all that works. I will probably be adding that to my dear. Great videos can't wait to file you on your journey.
Thomas Dolan There are not enough good ponchos in the world. I love not taking my gear off to get ready for rain. No wet straps, or wet back, you can still take your pack off and keep it dry under the poncho, lots of ventilation. I ended up tying the sleeves behind my neck to elevate the poncho and get more air flow. Just need to figure out how to keep the bottom from moving too much in strong winds. Shouldn't be too hard to figure it out.

Love the Gorge! My first backpacking trip was here in the Gorge. An amazing beautiful place.

It was cold enough to bring actual eggs. We added cheese and bacon... and it was glorious!!
Good people doin' good things. Thanks for the adventure.

That is an awesome video! Thanks for sharing. Sorry about the yellow jackets. Baking soda is a good multipurpose item to bring along.
Jeff Kindy Fishing is baking soda good for bug bites and sings?
Amanda Bess yes. Takes the sting away. Can use to clean pots, brush your teeth, odors, soak up wet chafed areas. So many uses.
Jeff Kindy Fishing, I knew it was good for cleaning. Didn't know it was good for stings. Interesting. Thanks for the heads up

Let's just say lesson learned! Lol. For some reason, we didn't think it would be THAT bad. Never again!!!
With all those stings you are a trouper for sure! What did you all put on them? You poor baby!
Great vid, what did you shoot it with?
SP97, thank you! Did it all with my phone... S8
Great "first backpacking video"! Those yellow jackets . . . man.

i have a lot of rrg videos. Enjoyed yours. Subbed
What kind of poncho is that?
Thomas Dolan, it's by Snugpak. I love the long sleeves and it's less than $40
I like how it covers you and your pack you will definitely need that on the AT
