This is true. So the hair follicle carries the sweat and odor out. Keeping it trimmed down reduces this, I trim it short not bald. Where the deodorant can cover the follicles but also the skin. It's made a big difference. Arm and hammer essentials is the best so far for me so far. Trim your hair, it's not hard and makes a difference.

Patrick McMullin At least you’re not disingenuous in your comment and actually showed your sexist views. If a dude wants to not have Chewbacca under his arms, WTF cares?!? But to answer your question, it reduces the area that breeds the odorous bacteria...it’s pretty common sense.

I’ve found native works well, and I don’t have the staining issue. But what I noticed is that Native says that you only need 2-3 application swipes (1 down and up counts as 2) and it looked like you went a little heavier. But also, as someone noticed, trimming the underarms up will also help the application issues.

First, I enjoy your channel and think you do a consistently good job in your reviewed. That said, I find the use of the word "natural" as a guarantee of health and safety too often to be a marketing con. It doesn't take much research to learn that all the concerns about aluminum in deodorants have wildly exaggerated and consistently debunked. First, some early studies thought it might be connected to breast cancer, but that was disproven. Then there was a theory that aluminum is a cause of alzheimer's, but that also was proven meritless. I know that the internet is full of references to thinly supported and poorly done studies, but I hate when people's ignorance of science is used to sell consumer goods. I have nothing against "natural" antiperspirants, if they work for you, but it is unlikely that they are helping to safeguard your health. If they keep you dry and smelling fresh, then fantastic.

Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for posting this. I have been using the Duke Cannon you recommended for about 3 months now and it has been awesome! I used to use nothing but Old Spice, then went to Every Man Jack because old spice became way too gimicky and it reflected in their scents.
Until recently I had to find a new deodorant because Every Man Jack was giving me a horrible rash under my arm pits out of nowhere. After years of using it, out of nowhere they would itch and burn like crazy and leave a red rash everywhere.
Finally stumbled upon Duke Cannon deodorant at a random gas station in South Carolina during a road trip to Florida one day. I had been using their soaps for a while so I was curious. Never looked back since.

For $12 or $13 I expect greatness so if native doesn't work or ruins clothes it's a no. I got Dr squatch Birchwood breeze deodorant and that was amazing, smelled great most of the day and even next day no fragrance but no odor either.

Another good one to try is Schmidt, they can be found at target
Edit: although the texture can vary from one stick to the next, and I’d recommend for holding it in your armpit for about 1 minute the first time you use it, and as for price it’s $5 dollars here, so only a dollar more than old spice and a couple dollars less than native, I use the magnesium and charcoal scented one

WOW, This has been a personal thing with me for quite some time. I've been trying to find a brand of Deodorant that I could trust to wick away moisture and still have a great smell to it. I've tried several with success, but the way you speak of this charcoal Cannon Deodorant, I'm buying it off Amazon to be shipped here by Sunday.

The key to using non-aluminum deodorant is to detox your armpits beforehand using apple cider vinegar. It takes away any smell for the whole day. Look up videos on bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar masks to detox your armpits.
Also Lume is the best brand of natural deodorant. It’s a little pricier but it works.

Thanks for this awesome video brother! I tried & wore Gillette, Secret, Dove, & Old Spice. They were all great but I hated that my armpits on all my shirts would stain so fast!! Switched over to Native and never looked back. I find that it works fine with my body type for daily use. Perfect for fall, winter, and spring. During summer Native didn't wear as long ( NYC summers are harsh & humidity is off the charts lol ) so I would carry a small travel size Native in my everyday carry bag just in case I had to apply a second time. I would deff check out Duke Cannon and give them a try! Thank Again!!

I had a huge problem with underarm sweat, to a point, where I was not comfortable wearing certain shirts (with and undershirt of course) as I knew how long it would take for me to not have a visible stains, once they get wet.
Certain Dry, applied every two or three nights is a game changer. Then the best other trick I found out was Ejis or other brand's (I think your well liked Mack Weldon makes them too) undershirt with extra padding under arms that are guaranteed to not show anything.
Lastly, for a physical separation, I did hear but have not tried underarm stickers, and some herbs / supplements claim to reduce sweating.
    All I have :)
    Cheers

I've used Every Man Jack's natural deoderants and they don't do shit. After a few hours of going about my day my armpits smell like the dumpster of a Chinese restaurant at 9pm when using that stuff. Meanwhile, old spice antiperspirant keeps me smelling perfectly fine many hours later.

The dermatologist Dr. Dray on TH-cam has talked about applying antiperspirant on at night on clean skin. The antiperspirant has to essentially permeate the sweat glands and stop the production of sweat and it takes time. If you apply in the morning the sweat that you experience, however minimal, essentially removes the antiperspirant before it can do it's job.

It's cool to see the topics you choose, because I'm probably 8 to 10 years older than you, and these are things I contemplated in my 20's as a bachelor who subscribed to GQ and Details. Most of the non-aluminum deodorants I looked into were fine, but in the end, you still stink at the end of the day. There's a reason they use aluminum. In the end, I went back to my Old Spice. (I use both the Deodorant AND the Anti-Perspirant). Recently though, a skincare company that I've been a big fan of (Baxter of California) started making their own anit-aluminum deodorant. It's good. Really good. I swear by most of their products, actually. Get into them, Jon. Baxter is a great company for men's products. I can't really speak to their hair products though, because I am bald.

Its weird because I used to love Native but it does leave residue on my clothes that do wash out. But the Cucumber and Mint scent gave me a bad rash and then I saw this video and tried Duke Cannon. Honestly Duke Cannon is immediately my go to deodorant. Works great. I work in a muggy hot car wash in the midwest and it can power through the days no problem. Of course you'll still "smell" but not as much if you wore no Deodorant. But also I don't sweat profusely naturally so consider that.

    • @jhavenhyde4178
      @jhavenhyde4178 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Some people are allergic, and the aluminum works by blocking pores on the skin and it aborbs into the body. There have been concerns about potential negative effects of aluminum buildup which has led so a movement against it.

I'm a big fan of Native, but was having the same problem with my polo shirts. It's the coconut oil that creates that issue. Solution = before washing, apply "Dawn Platinum" directly on the soiled \ stained areas, let it sit for 15 minutes, wash as usual, problem solved. Duke Cannon uses propylene glycol instead of coconut oil. Here's a quick google search on propylene glycol: "Propylene glycol (also known as 1,2 propanediol) is a relatively small molecule with two alcohol (hydroxyl) groups (-OH). It is a colorless, odorless liquid that is completely water-soluble. PG is a synthetic product obtained from the hydration of propylene oxide, which is derived from petroleum products." So really not all that "natural." I also find that keeping the armpits slightly trimmed \ manscaped allows the native to go easier and helps reduce odor.

    • @danielkitts4903
      @danielkitts4903 4 ปีที่แล้ว

AOS (Art of Sports) has worked nicely for me. Its “Rise” scent is the one I like.
I must add that the transition to this type of deodorants takes a bit of adjustment. Like many, I was using a 24 hours protection one. The very first day I tried AOS I was funky by 4pm. Then a coworker told me that during the transition I had to apply it more often than usual until my body got used to it. So, I applied it every 4 hours (during the day) for a week; now I apply it only twice a day, right after a shower (I take two every day).
Best thing of this change was that the yellow stains on my white T-shirts and shirts are gone!!!

Thats so crazy to hear because Native is the only brand thats worked for me. My deodorant would turn into glue in the shower and it was so painful I tried every brand I could get a hold of. I tracked the issue down to antiperspirant so I tried to find deodorants that didnt have the antiperspirant and so many natural brands just suck. Native covers the smell, and you dont need so much? I never see residue and if I feel like there is a lot on I wipe off the excess. I've never had a single stain, and I wear my button up shirts a couple times between washes, but never anything with my day to day activities. Even with hard sweats Ive never had a smell other than the scent. I'm sold on it! Although now Ill also try duke cannon

Usually aluminum causes those stains. Native probably has another metal that acts as an antiperspirant that is causing those stains.

To me the best natural deodorant ever is the Lavilin cream deodorant, a tiny little pinch keeps your pits odor free for 7+ days continuously. Works even after showering 🚿 or excessive sweating 😓 goes away only if you scrub your pits but 🧼 soap is totally fine.

You have to try Aesop deodorant! The scent lingers throughout the day and you can skip wearing fragrances.

I agree with the antiperspirant deodorant application, it's a little rough. I also ordered the Sandalwood Natural One, hoping it works for me. :-) Great review!

Deodorant + AP has been a crap shoot for most guys because as teens we are trusting when parents gave us grocery/pharmacy (GP), store brands that we never outgrow, misplaced brand loyalty, or because of ad campaigns like Axe Body Spray used when they launched.
    - If you get rash or burns from deodorant stop using and switch to an AP.
After understanding the difference btwn deodorant and AP, I wonder why anyone would use deodorant.
Look up what we stink after sweating (it ain't all about what you eat).
Finding a deodorant or AP that is both not harmful and actually works...the search continues

I think that you were sweating a lot because I heard that when you switch to natural deodorants your armpits start to sweat more to release all of the waste that was there from the other deodorants that u were previously using.

What do you think of arm and hammer essentials? It’s aluminum, paraben And phthalates free. It’s cheap . What do the deodorants that you mention have that something like arm and hammer doesn’t ?

I switched from antiperspirant to aluminum free deodorant a couple years ago and the only thing that I have found that keeps me from smelling like a manimal is old spice. I'm going to have to try the duke cannon and see how it works out.

@@misterbobby8913 I have tried all 3 now and they all work well. I would rank them old spice first, native, then duke cannon. Body chemistry is different for everyone, however, so you might have a different experience.

If the politicians have their way, we will never get back to life "as normal". The lockdowns are too good for their brand because it creates a dependency state, while they radically shift the education programs to teach children that America is bad and this is how life is supposed to be.
