What hardware 1176 do you recommend? Would a 500 series work like the serpent splice or better off with a 1176 rack like the UA or purple? What compressor for electric guitars ?
any 1176 clone should do "the thing". I always get the originals when possible to eliminate any doubt. If the 500 series are transformer in and out, they should do it well too. the 1176 is excellent for electric (clean, or edge of break-up) For high gain guitars, they don't need compression since the heavy distortion is already heavily compressed. the LA-3A is very popular for guitars. the VCA types work well too for guitars. It depends on what you want out of it. VCAs or LA-3A for some control, 1176 to really get some twang or something more "effecty"... like you hear on funk records or King Crimson-esque clean sounds. If you have the means, get the real thing. The Purples are also great.
I'm absorbing your shared wisdom Sir! thank you! All good stuff!
Super! Amazing that talking only (without any examples) can be so informative and descriptive.
Probably the best video on compression I’ve witnessed.
Thank you so much, friend!
I can’t find part 5 😢
But great work 🎉

If you see one of those stereo sebatron opto compressors, they do the thing and can be had for around a grand used.
Interesting. Never heard of those. a grand for two channels, that needs some attention :)

Off-topic question: you're in Switzerland, right? I assume you speak English over there, most of the time, but how's your German? :D
I'm in Austria. My German is not very good.
