    If I had to guess, the reason doublers were originally developed was because older gen DrMOS and discrete mosfets had far worse switching performance than modern ones, so using doublers to compensate for a low operating frequency could improve ripple.

    Edit: I think shielding is poorly done on this board. When I plug in the headphone and start listening to music or watch BuildZoid videos, it makes zzzzsz buzzing noise once in a while. Plugging it into a USB Dac solves the issue. Also, the board's sound is not as good as the older S1220 codec and ES9023P Dac found in Asus Crosshair VII Hero board.

    When is the Asus AM5 motherboard rambling video coming?

  • @laceflower_
    @laceflower_ ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not an expert and I may be completely wrong, but my guess as to why doublers were implemented is with higher amperage power stages (say, the infineon 80/90A SPSs) a doubler would increase the effective switching frequently of a controller while still providing enough current per phase. Higher switching frequencies can severely degrade efficiency, so you want to have the controller at a sweet spot (usually like 300khz-500khz?) but doublers would effectively increase that without efficiency loss by offsetting the pwm timing

    Regarding the high current 8-pin connectors, I'm not sure it's true that they always have that solid prismatic shape. For example, Molex Minifit HCS (high current) like PN 46015-0802 are that folded metal style and rated for 10A per contact. I want to say it's the same for Amphenol parts. I'm not even sure where one can acquire those prismatic terminal style of connectors through normal western distributors.

I've read a lot of bad feedback from people having issues booting or maintaining their system stable because of RAM compatibility (in spite of using QVL ram listed in both ASUS and the RAM brand). Some other people having no luck enabling EXPO.....
    Could any b650e-f owner share his experience in this regard? Thanks

    Did anyone try to pair this mobo with Kingston 64gb? . I would like to know which model is compatible. Ddr5 is expensive, and I can't return the ram if it's not compatible.

    How about B650E-E? Is the higher price worth it?

      B650E-E one extra features. at that price, it's better to go for ASRock X670E steel legend

    Is it a problem with AMD MB’s being that their OC of memory is lower then Intel, this board maximum is 6400

    Hey Buildzoid, are you going to make a rambling video about AM5 Asus motherboards soon? I'm really waiting your word on them to make a decision. Haha can't decide which board to choose for my new AM5 build and information around these boards are still very scarce. I'm thinking of going with the Strix B650E-E but I'm afraid the 70 amps on VRMs (vs 110 amps on X670E) wouldn't be enough if I plan to upgrade to some high end cpu on zen 5 in the future. I know this probably will never be answered but thanks anyway for your videos! They are incredibly useful!

    Why should I pick this one over the Asrock B650 Pro RS, Steel legend, Taichi Lite or the Gigabyte B650 AORUS PRO X?

    Asrock "has" a b650 matx motherboard with more available pcie lanes than this. (asrock b650m-c) You get 4 more usable lanes and worse rear io and only two sata ports. It is from what I can tell not available anywhere...

    I have the Crosshair 8 Extreme and 5950X, the specs say it can do 5000Mhz (OC), do you think it'd even be possible?

      I have a B550 Tomahawk with 5800X, and I was able to static overclock to 4.5Ghz (auto negative offset voltage), anything beyound that causes the temperature on heavy load jumps from 67°C to 87°C, and cinebench score only gets 2~4% higher than 4.5Ghz. I decided to not deal with fans ramping up only for that amount of performance increase

      @@fitztech loosened up the aio cooler it was pressing too hard on the CPu which got it to post once but still kept getting dram light errors and ended up replacing the board, new board had the same light and errors but post fine if but a bit slow on power up. Tested the ram it was fine, and replaced the CPU just to make sure it was fine. Whatever the issue is, it has to do with the compatibility of AMD boards with the RAM and the CPU. A love triangle that needs a serious update.

    Considering the heat density of AM5 will there ever be more power hungry chips for this socket?
