    If I had to guess, the reason doublers were originally developed was because older gen DrMOS and discrete mosfets had far worse switching performance than modern ones, so using doublers to compensate for a low operating frequency could improve ripple.

      for a gaming build with 7800x3d there really is nothing useful on the E-E compared to E-F except the post code, which is nice but not gonna pay 90 euro more to get it

    • @HeadBassVTEC
      @HeadBassVTEC 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jondonnelly3 same for me here and all you get for 95 euro more is a post code, cause everything else is useless for a gaming build
      even this is kinda overkill for a gaming build and thinking of saving 50 eur and getting a B650 AORUS ELITE AX V2 cause my 4080 sure doesn't need pcie5 and most likely even 6080 that I might upgrade to won't need it...also I did not have a good experience with asus on my last 2 builds and eventually replaced them, but it seems they have improved their memory topology at least (my b550 tomahawk max can actually run 4 stick of 3200 CL14 memory which the x470 crosshair 7 hero could not even remotely)
      the b650 is only 6 layer but with 6000MHz ram it doesn't matter much and the b650 has pcie5 nvme as well so it's probably useless for me to pay more

  • @laceflower_
    @laceflower_ ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not an expert and I may be completely wrong, but my guess as to why doublers were implemented is with higher amperage power stages (say, the infineon 80/90A SPSs) a doubler would increase the effective switching frequently of a controller while still providing enough current per phase. Higher switching frequencies can severely degrade efficiency, so you want to have the controller at a sweet spot (usually like 300khz-500khz?) but doublers would effectively increase that without efficiency loss by offsetting the pwm timing

    Regarding the high current 8-pin connectors, I'm not sure it's true that they always have that solid prismatic shape. For example, Molex Minifit HCS (high current) like PN 46015-0802 are that folded metal style and rated for 10A per contact. I want to say it's the same for Amphenol parts. I'm not even sure where one can acquire those prismatic terminal style of connectors through normal western distributors.

      The Strix B650E-E is significantly more expensive than the Strix B650E-F ... even if there's a little more to it than a damn SPDIF plug, it's a bit much.
      Will wait for a review, and probably a sale...

      @@UnhingedBecauseLucidI'm super late to this comment but I believe tiger was saying that the e-f has a spdif header while the e-e has a spdif optical out. So you can still use it on the e-f just need to install via the header instead of the port.

    What are the pros/cons of plugging things into those red USB ports on the back? What are they made for? I have a keyboard, mouse, and webcam. What's the best things to plug into those or the best thing to avoid? Thank you.

    Hey Buildzoid, are you going to make a rambling video about AM5 Asus motherboards soon? I'm really waiting your word on them to make a decision. Haha can't decide which board to choose for my new AM5 build and information around these boards are still very scarce. I'm thinking of going with the Strix B650E-E but I'm afraid the 70 amps on VRMs (vs 110 amps on X670E) wouldn't be enough if I plan to upgrade to some high end cpu on zen 5 in the future. I know this probably will never be answered but thanks anyway for your videos! They are incredibly useful!

    Just checked the memory support tab, compared to gigabyte, asus got wayy less support on the list.
    Can i even use g skill 6000 cl 30 / 32 when it's not even listed on asus & g skill website? or it won't even boot?

    I wish that the Zen 4 lineup had at least one mid tier cpu that does make sense in both pricing and performance but the middle stack of the indel 13th gen cpu's butcher any amd cpu other than 7950x and I'd still pick 13900k over it due to superior single threaded performance.

    i found my VDDMISC capacitor(i identified from your video) was stuck by one leg(one pin is broken), my pc runs but i think it's unstable on usage and gaming and probably consume more energy by only running, probably i ill see if is fixable, but if i need to change? which one i need to buy? and is correct what i say from instability?. Thanks
