    I have a question.. I have a 2016 Impala LT.. I think i blew a fuse or short circuited something.. my high beams, horn, windshield wipers, trunk DO NOT WORK. AND MY ENGINE LIGHT NOW CAME ON.. or the fuses relay fuses too are fine. None blown out.. Would you have an idea why this is happening?

    • @DallasAutoDiag
      @DallasAutoDiag  ปีที่แล้ว

      My advice is to find a good technician to diagnose it correctly for you and stop guessing.

      Paid 1,500 literally 24hrs ago for a fuel pump replacement and it drove fine I drove it 55 miles one way and 55 back no problem. Woke up this morning to go get coffee power steering drive with care message came on and my steering wheel was so hard to turn luckily I was able to drive straight into a parking lot I waited for 15 minutes turn car back on and it drove home fine. Oh and no codes came up but I'm scared to drive now .

    Where is the TCM and how do you get to it when you pop the hood?

    • @deankay4434
      @deankay4434 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The TCM is the "Transmission Control Module." Why do you want it if you are having a steering problem?
      I don't like "All-Data" but maybe the have improved, but Mitchell's is much better.
      You can also go to ACDelco to see if you have the correct computer equipment, but you can purchase a 24hr period, Week, Month or Year. It has the wiring, component locations, diagnostic flow charts for properly chasing a DTC.
      With high speed local area network or GM LAN, this is used as serial data for ECM, TCM, SCM and others, like suspension! Yours will vary depending on the Make, Model, Engine, Trans and Grade Level LT, LS, Turbo etc. the Malibu uses a torque sensor inside on the upper steering column. It plugs into the "Steering Control Module" with short wires as it plugs into the drive motor right on the upper column. If you have an Impala, the sensor, SCM could be under the dash, but like some (Depends on Year) but the motor can drive a rack and pinion gear with a tiny toothed timing belt. I don't have all memorized. Go to Rock Auto and year, make, model, engine, click on steering. Look at the parts to see what they look like! As far as getting to these parts for service or replacement, welcome to my world. Dealer Tech, retired!

      What makes Mitchell's better than all data? I always thought the opposite. Its even reflected by the monthly sub fees.

    • @deankay4434
      @deankay4434 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DallasAutoDiag Well, some time ago, only Mitchell's had colors on wires, the diagnostics come from the manufacturer and cost what every they charge plus a royalty per unit sold. Mitchell's had way more, like body systems, ABS and techs in seminars or classes told me. Plus, ACDelco supplied a subscription for the instructors to use. That is what I did for almost 7 years. They called the 56 of us, Market Area Service Mgrs. I soon became overloaded. Load, drive, teach EL3 & EL4, Overland Park, KC. Next week, Seminars, Advanced Charging Systems in Altoona, then Peoria, Rockford then Dubuque, drive home. Three days with defects in Dubuque at IWI Motor parts. They had hired to new guys, none with ASE certification, but was helping me when I tore rotator cuff. Saturdays were off but had to turn in receipts and attendance rosters. I had 62, 84, 114, 88 one week and going higher. The other guys were lower each week. Their seminars went 3hrs then 2. I went 4hrs. Grand Blanc called and sent a GM training center mgr from Chicago out to attend a seminar on A/C. Everyone was doing the old stuff so I did 4hrs on controls, sensors, actuators, Corvette heater box that uses a roll-up almost raincoat material with openings in it, fascinating to me and thin. But, they want a copy of my power point and couldn't figure out where I got it. It was online at the GM Tech Training Site. I took it and added screen shot captured off my Tech-II. I kept but had surgery on the rotator cuff, two weeks later, got a call from my Raytheon service boss telling my job was dissolve. Dr pulled the plug on my career, sitting down a huge file going back to 97, and said he knows dozens who qualified for disability with less. It sucks as I am living on 1984 income. But no more 243 days per year in a hotel room. Just take care and have a great 2022 & 2023. DK, retired.
