How does the UAP-AC-HD version compare in performance and range to that of the UAP-AC-PRO (real life vs theoretical). Since the Pro is also supposed to be MIMO.
Please i need urgent solution,Does this support 2.5ghz? because in the manual it support it,if i turn off the default radius,i hope i can choose both 2.5ghz and 5ghz WEP/WAP? i need to purchase on for hotspot.
Hey Willie, do you know if the AP AC HD fit the AP AC Pro mounts? I already have AC Pro's and would like to swap them out for AC HD's, would be awesome if i only had to unplug the old one and clip the new one in place on the old mounts. UBNT did the same with the old Pro APs without AC, the mount was the same on the AC AP Pros.
Love your videos. What do you recommend for home use. My gateway will be Mikrotik. I want a ubnt switch with POE and I can't decide between the old AC or the new HD. I Will need aprox 3 AP. 2 for the inside of the house and one outdoor. Will these be ok for outside.
Love your videos. Technical without going too deep and not super long. Between you and Crosstalk Solutions, you guys pretty much have Ubiquiti covered. So far I love their products and the pricing allows someone still learning a better platform to cut their teeth while still using in their home for "production" without having to turn to typical legacy enterprise hardware. I would definitely like to see your lab setup.
Cant wait for this, i've put lots of time into this myself in my home setup with some surprising results, will be interesting to see what your conclusions are!
Some people are just that way, they thrive just to down vote. Hopefully it doesn't discourage you since there are a bunch of us that love your content. Though maybe you could do a schedule if possible or something. You are kind of all over the place with different topics. Some may like the randomness, maybe a vote is due.
I've done some testing with this unit for a few weeks and I can't recommend these to my clients. They barely outperform the AC-PRO's and for the price, I can put a second AP in high density situations.
We used a client's location that typically has 250-350 people split across 2 AP-AC-PRO's and 1 AC-LITE in one large room. We replaced the center most AC-PRO with a AC-HD. Theoretically the HD should be able to handle "500+ clients" but with an average minimal load per client with about 270 clients during the one afternoon hour, frequent timeouts and packet loss across devices with a few of the clients disconnecting outright (most likely to due WiFi assist on iOS). Most of the devices were iPhones with a few of our laptops. Connection to the internet at this location is 1G/1G but the ISP's pipe to the internet is about half of that. We didn't try doing an iperf test but I have one at my house to test further so maybe I can try with a few of my own clients. I'm not saying the AC-HD doesn't have a place but in most situations where a HD AP is needed, I'd probably look toward a Cisco offering first. I need to get my hands on MR42 or MR52 when we use them next and do a comparison.
1. Show the lab. 2. About VHT160... Why not? If hardware supports it, why not give the user a choice? I understand that it takes up a lot of the available frequency range with 2 80mhz bonded channels, but what if there's scenarios where we need it? UBQ prices allow us to run their hardware at residential areas, where 1 or maybe 2 neighbors on the street sit on the 5ghz frequency. More speed is better for everybody. The market now sits on 80mhz channels even though the hardware supports 160, that goes for APs as well as client devices. If 160mhz wave comes, client devices will get the 160mhz support as well...
I'd like to see your lab. Security vlog would be very useful. Please consider running speed tests on various devices and configurations including the USG, WAPs etc etc.
Willie, Would love discussions on high density systems (thousands of users) with Ubiquiti and PfSense. Multi WAN (4) inputs on Edge Max Pro to PfSense to Unifi AP deployment. Everyone's feelings on pros and cons or past experience. This is my normal daily work, but love to swap ideas. Setting up WiFi at the pools and rec centers seems like a lifetime ago. Keep up the good work!
Hey Willie another good video. You're right the three processors in that unit and the extra coding does cause the provisioning and boot times to increase.
Security news already exists on TH-cam and elsewhere on the net. It could be a success if you can find a twist that separates your channel from the usual stuff like; what Microsoft did on patch Tuesday or, what havoc some new zero-day can do to life as we know it. What about videos on how to effectively implement products and software that can protect computers and networks from the ever expanding threats of malware, etc. News we already have - guidance we can always use. Love your work and you just might have what it takes to pull off something unique.
Hey Willie if you use the mobile app to provision can you some how late offload said AP to a controller from the app?
I wanted to see some throughput testing comparing this to the older model.

Yes please show your lab!

Hello Sir,
I really want to see your lab.
Please make a video of your lab tour.
Yea, would like to see the Lab for sure.
I got 320Mbit throughput on my HTC 10 with an AC Lite. I was also using Magicperf and my phone was connected at 867Mbit.
Would like to see the lab tour in detail not just a top overview :)
Would like to hear/see specifics please.

Too bad, i hoped they will keep the Pro mount :(
hope they will be in stock at the german re-sellers soon :D

If you've got some 10gig in your lab I wanna see it :)
Why did you cut out your iperf3 performance at the ~13:00 mark. I came here for that.
***** cool. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I like your videos.
I think I missed the iperf results.
I think I missed ANY results.. Were there range or speed results?
Cant wait for this, i've put lots of time into this myself in my home setup with some surprising results, will be interesting to see what your conclusions are!
still waiting Willie.. There are no videos at all on TH-cam.. could be the best time to post... ;)
how do you turn the MU‑MIMO on and off?
Lab and security Saturday please.

Preston Mainard - what conditions were you using for your tests?
Willie Howe I sent them an email with my findings and never heard back. I'm going to try our companies distributor next week.

hi I love your videos ubnt.
can you make a video about OpenVPN client in edgerouter x?
The edgerouter don't have GUI to config OpenVPN client.
The security sounds great

Lab tour please.
I know Im late and I want security Saturday if you havent already

What's up with your editing? So many of your videos are cut/trimmed incorrectly. :(
