  • It’s season 2 of We Are Vineyard, and we’re starting off with an exciting 2-part interview! Tim Mackie of @bibleproject joins our host, Jay Pathak, to share about his relationship with Jesus as a child, the healing he experienced through the prayers of his church, and the disconnect he felt while attending school at a church. Tim talks about being reintroduced to Jesus through a dorky skateboarding-based church, and how following invitations from a cool leader at SkateChurch sparked his interest in the Bible, which transformed him from a disinterested student to an ignited scholar. Tim also shares about the lifelong friends he found through SkateChurch, meeting his wife through a mutual interest in Greek, and the origin story of BibleProject. This is a two-part episode, so make sure to come back next week for the second half of the story!
Tim is married to Jessica, and together they are raising two little boys, Roman and August, in the wonderful city of Portland, Oregon.
Tim is a creative writer for BibleProject.
He’s been fascinated with Jesus and his Jewish heritage ever since he became a Christian at 20 years old through an urban outreach ministry to skateboarders in Portland called SkateChurch. Tim discovered the wonderful world of biblical studies and languages at Multnomah University and Western Seminary, and he had the privilege of doing a PhD in Hebrew and Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Tim’s greatest passion is to help people grasp the beautiful and compelling story of the ancient Scriptures and how they lead us to Jesus of Nazareth.

One special thing I got from hearing this is, parents, NEVER STOP PRAYING FOR YOUR CHILDREN!!!! We’re on God’s time. It could take 6+ years, but God is working in the background!! NEVER give up!! Keep Praying!!

I'd have to agree. Coming from an adult who had praying grandparents. A mom with 6 kids who locked herself in to pray. In our teen years she prayed. Age 21 and so afraid for her kids she prayed. God's been faithful. I have prayed for my own kids and they have seen it. At times I see that fruit or least desire to be fruitful. I'm thankful we serve A God who doesn't give up on us. Hears us and cares about the details in out lives.

Funny thing is that one of the "generous donors" Tim alludes to is none other than Francis Chan. Pretty cool

Great interview. This should give both parents and youth workers encouragement. I will be sharing this with others.

4:56 I am just beginning to listen and cannot wait to learn more! And I want to say, perhaps, the same school authorties that spanked Tim and expelled him, also prayed for him in earnest, despite their human flaws. Perhaps, perhaps the irony is also the purest humor of a Good and Perfect Heart.

A spectacular interview. However, so often the interviewer commenting/interrupting is very distracting.

I was about to say something about that and you eat me to it.
Jay, it would be very helpful if your interviewees could finish answering their own questions before you jump in. Thank you.

Tim you need to repent for your false teachings. You say that man created hell, that Jesus practiced eastern mysticism, and that lgbtq is ok.
    Repent!!!!!!!

I am so Glad I found this comment I thought I was the only one spotting his deception at one time I believed That Tim was one of the very few that were correctly teaching on most of the difficult subjects a lot of Churches would not even touch related to the Spirit world. Until I came across his teaching on Hell at which point about 3 years ago I no longer could listen to what he had to say and since then he has spread more falsehood as @ericmchenryil5186 has made clear above. What really started to bother me was I found A video recently that appeared as though it was endorsed by Dr Michael Heiser where Tim uses Dr Heiser's work from the Unseen Realm documentary and presents it as a kind of collaboration with no credit given to Dr Heiser other than a link That is titled The Unseen Realm i.e. Dr Heiser's work but the link goes to another of TIM Mackie's podcasts The deception here is very disturbing in that Dr Heiser Passed away in Feb.2023 and the video was produced in May. I cannot judge Tim's heart, but his actions are very deceitful. The title of said video is "Are Other gods Real? -YES- MACKIE/HEISER EXPLAIN" if anyone else wants to verify.
