Thank you to Jerry Garcia for paying his respects to Jimmy Cliff and for turning this reggae classic into a rock classic. As we say in Jamaica, 'nuff respeck.'
I feel such overwhelming gratitude to have been born in the time where we get to experience the incomparable magic that is Jerry Garcia. What a great time to be alive!! ❤ It brings tears of awe at the beauty.
Yep. One of a few JGB songs/covers I want played at my funeral. Jimmy did this song wonderfully but Jerry's sweet voice really is such a perfect fit. Tears? 9 out of ten times. "...this little boy is moving on"
So I had a mini-stroke last ties 3/8/22.. I've had five previous heart attacks and they figure my rhythms are finally out of wack with all the damage. Good Lord knows how much I can relate to this song right now. Here's two significant Lifestyle Changes.. Once again!!
Used to step in and watch the Jerry band at the Stone on Broadway in SF in the mid-80s. This and other Jimmy Cliff was usually on the menu. Also loved Cats Down Under the Stars and several others. It was his heyday. Seems like he always finished the show with the Peter Rowan favorite, Midnight Moonlight. People just danced their ass off polka style and swirly crazy ta that one. I loved seeing those shows. Always some crazy wierd lovely stuff happening you couldn't explain in 'normal' terms. If you went to Jerry or Dead shows, of course you know what I mean. There was also the Keystone down in Palo Alto. It was all like his home territory. I saw him at Frost in Stanford, the Greek in Berkeley, the Sweetwater in Mill Valley (very personal) and finally at RFK 5 weeks before he died. Love seeing all these old memories. They capture the essence pretty well, except for the time, the people, the high, the air, Bill Graham, and the incredible sense of the cosmic. Oh well. Can't have everything, can ya...
This was such a memorable night. Lysergic, my orange volvo up the GSP with two great friends. And this! Listened to the early show on WNEW on our ride up and then took in the late show.
Thank you Jerry for always being here when I need you, he had what many have had but isn’t something you see much of nowadays, soul, a genuine and loving soul who wanted to leave the earth better than he found it other than wrecking the place for his own entertainment utmost respect and love for this legend from now until the end
He is such a inspiration to all of us. I try to follow his example as good as I can. Many people claim I am very kind. But I always think: I can do better to make people more happy. Life is short. We need to enjoy it together as long as we can. That's what I got out of Jerrys music.
Went to many shows in Passaic. Early and late shows back to Connecticut for High school..leave early and catch the next show in the area the next day. Did this for years. 10 - 4 that cap.!!! we had names for the security dudes we went there so much. Security#49 we called miner 49er. Any one remember Good skates in Hemstead, NY strip mall. Free show at halftime. Jerry was in the Pizza shop in the only air conditioned space. Great show. Fresh Liquid.
I’m still sitting in Limbo because of the true love I have for Jerry to the point of when I die so I can b with him ! ❤️🐇🐰🌹🕊️☠️💀🎵🪽☹️🥲💧💦👽🪐🛸🚀⚡️✨💥☄️🔥the fire still burns in me for my Jerry !
I actually wondered yesterday if I would get to know Jerry after I leave this body, too. But in reality, he knows our love right now, better than we know ourselves. ❤
There's a critic in every crowd.,..I would tell them, "if I want a critic, I'll buy a newspaper!" It was a Great show, now git on down the road...To spend time with y'all bathing in JGB after all this time is an honor!🌹

My experience is priceless with this SONG those were the days this jerry don't have any idea about this SONG I still have chills ESPECIALLY the beginning but I'll let sleeping dogs lie thanks again JIMMY CLIFF
This song is Lament! It is Jerry's song.Jerry was an extraordinary man.He was very intelligent, very funny and loads of fun to be with..Jerry had a cool vibe of a very intense joy of life, but underneath it all he had a profound sorrow that was focused on the demise of Haight Ashbury and the US.He sensed how fucked things were and his inability to make things right, even with his tremendous generosity. And so he found himself sitting in Limbo with all of his addictions.
@tracyhill6166 It was a strange experience. I live in Alabama and I saw a picture of Jerry sitting in his bedroom playing banjo. Then I thought- I bet that if I walked into the room,we would become friends. So I ran away to Frisco. When I got there the Dead House was packed with people partying. I drank a 6 pack and I had to take a pass. The bathroom was upstairs. So I went up and when I came out of the bathroom there was Jerry playing his banjo.I turned away because I didn't want to bug him. But Jerry called out and said that I didn't have to go He patted his bed, so I could sit down together. He was playing all these old time Applalachian folks ones that my family band would play. So I knew all these old tunes and started to sing along and we became close friends just like I imagined.
Jerry never cared for money the same way I didn’t because I could of been very rich for what I was selling but only did I make it to get to go to c them plus once I was there they took care of me ! ❤️🐇🐰🌹😍🥰😘
something irks me, I can't describe its pain but it's nature is entirely compromised. Part of me feels unavoidably like it's succumbing toward paths of least resistance. I'd rather escape towards the familiar instead of sacrificing myself in order to receive safety. Why? I know I cannot trust, so the answer must be to accept completely that salvation...
Its sad that three years later he was obese, his hair a mess and greasy and his voice was always hoarse. After 1980 jerry's decline started. i love this song though and of course I love Jerry.
Jerry knew about Bob Marley before the Gratefuldead did because I turned them onto him at the partys I ran for them ! ❤️🐇🐰😍😘🥰🌹☠️💀🎵👻👽🪐🛸🚀✨⚡️💥☄️🔥☮️ let the music lead u the way !

I get tears in my eyes nearly every time I hear this song, but to see it causes them to flow down freely.
You and I both!
Dig it. I get that with Nicky Hopkins' lead from the November 1975 shows (released as "Let It Rock")

Think Jerry meant every word He ever sang!
This might be my favorite piece of Jerry garcia’s music; overything is so serene and Ozzie ahlers hits a complentary solo that should be on records
Jerry’s solo is fucking transcendent as always 🤧
One off my favorite tunes, and look at Jerry go on that solo
Elegant is the right word
Sitting here in Limbo
Waiting for the tide turn
Yeah, now, sitting here in Limbo
So many things I've got to learn
Meanwhile, they're putting up a resistance
But I know that my faith will lead me on
Sitting here in Limbo
Waiting for the dice to roll
Yeah, now, sitting here in Limbo
Still got some time to search my soul
Meanwhile, they're putting up a resistance
But I know that my faith will lead me on
I don't know where life will take me
But I know where I have been
I don't know what life will show me
But I know what I have seen
Tried my hand at love and friendship
That is past and gone
And now it's time to move along
Sitting here in Limbo
Like a bird ain't got a song
Yeah, I'm sitting here in Limbo
And I know it won't be long
'Til I make my getaway, now
Meanwhile, they're putting up a resistance
But I know that my faith will lead me on
I don't know where life will take me
But I know where I have been
I don't know what life will show me
But I know what I have seen
Tried my hand at love and friendship
That is past and gone
And now it's time to move along
Gonna lead me on now
Meanwhile, they're putting up resistance
But I know that my faith will lead me on
Sitting in Limbo, Limbo, Limbo
Sitting in Limbo, Limbo, Limbo
Sitting in Limbo, Limbo, Limbo
Meanwhile, they're putting up a resistance
But I know that my faith will lead me on
