- Anatomy of the ribs: The ribs, along with the thoracic vertebrae, sternum, and costal cartilages, make up the thoracic cage, also known as the bony thorax or rib cage.
The rib cage protects organs and assists with breathing.
The average skeleton has 24 individual ribs, formed in 12 pairs. There are three types of rib pairs: true ribs (1-7), false ribs (8-12), and floating ribs (11 and 12).
Anatomists also classify individual rib bones into two types: typical ribs (3-9) and atypical ribs (1,2,10,11,12).
The space between the ribs is called the intercostal space. There are 11 intercostal spaces, which serve as important landmarks for nurses and other healthcare professionals, especially when assessing heart and lung sounds.

Hello there, I am continuously watching your videos and it's really really helpful, can you please also make a video for how to talk with angerly patient if they don't want to walk with nurse or if they want pain medication and don't let nurse to assess there pain, and how to communicate with patients in a professional manner during the OSCE exam, entrance, handwashing, introduce, etc. My exam is soon after 5 days. I really appreciate you if it's possible to make this type of video soon. Thank you again.
