So Arrowette: In season 1 Artemis helped save a reporter from the DC Spiderman knock-off while she was on patrol with Green Arrow. That reporter had a daughter who watched the whole thing and the last we saw of her, she was excitedly looking out the window at Artemis, seeming inspired by her. That little girl grew up and became Arrowette.

Hecks yeah. Cool dark backstory (the good one, not the bad one). Probably, the best fighter among the Bat family. Interesting awareness and personality.
When I first watched the series, I personally never felt like the show wanted me to know every character going in, except for maybe the core members of the JL. For the most part, it let's you get to know everyone as the show goes, and I really like that. There are easter eggs here and there for people who already know certain characters, like the Victor Stone callout last episode, but I'd never felt like I was missing out on anything by not recognizing some characters or names
Not necessarily. The show already has a ton of characters and even those of major importance don't always have their backstories shown if it's not relevant to the story, such as Speedy or Kid Flash (Roy and Wally). I think Cassandra's appearance is just a little cameo for people who wanted to see her.
@@aros0018 Speedy and Kid Flash both had major appearances in Teen Titans and their relations to their partners were established in the very first episode. That black lightning line deserved a porn hub jingle in the edit. "You've never had black lightning before" o/` Bow Chicka bow bow ba ba bow chicka bow o/`
The thing for me with all the different characters is that, while I get feeling thrown off or confused, I don't think we are meant to know them as anything more than what we see here. That is, if you are very familiar with all the different comics I'm sure it's even better to be seeing all of these characters, but within the show itself it's more about the fact that all of these characters exist, and come into the show as needed. If we are meant to care about them more or really know them, then the show gives us more (like with Halo, Forager, and Brion). With Tim's team, you get their names, and see them in action, and that's all you really need, because that's all the purpose they serve in the story for now. The story - at least at this point - isn't trying to get you invested in them. These are just characters that exist in this world. If you know them, great, if not, it's just another part of this world that is full to the brim with superheroes. It's kind of like celebrities (for lack of a better comparison). No matter how many shows or movies you watch, there are always going to be actors you don't know, or only vaguely recognize. They only become known to you after you see them, but they're not going to be as recognized to you as actors you already know/have grown to care about due to the characters they play. Like the cameos in various Marvel movies for example . Not Stan Lee, but ones that fans would recognize from say, shows like Community, or previous Joss Whedon works. These actors make cameos in the movies, and people who are familiar with them are excited to see them, but they're meant to be just that: bit parts that require no other knowledge. It's the same kind of idea here. You don't need to really know these characters, just see that they exist, and the ones you do need to know the show will spend more time on.
The too many characters/ the show expects you to know all these characters complaints are complete and utter bull shit. The show literally tells/shows you everything you need to know about everyone that shows up that is actually important to the story. As for the many glorified cameos they are just that cameos. Someone showing up does not make them a main character or qualify them for additional screentime. And while there may be those upset that their personal favorite is currently relegated to cameo appearance only. The key word being CURRENTLY. It's still better then them not being there at all. And all these characters are essential for both world building and foreshadowing for future stories. Which spoiler alert are both critical and essential parts of any good story. And the great thing about all these characters being here is that Young Justice feels like a real fully inhabited world which is just a wonderful contrast to many other shows that feel lifeless because all we ever see are the main characters.
Spoiler is supposed to be the "evolved" version the fourth Robin (Stephanie Brown). Just like Dick turning into Nightwing. Although she is left out of some adaptations, which only count the boys. The order is Dick, Jason, Tim, Steph and Damian. Orphan is the evolved version of the third Batgirl if I remember correctly. Her name is Cassandra Cain.
Spoiler was actually Spoiler first. She was a major supporting character of Tim Drake's Robin. Her timeline went Spoiler > Robin > "Dead"> Back to Spoiler again for a little bit> to the 3rd/5th Batgirl depending on who you ask. Cassandra Cain debuted as Cassandra Cain and was actually the first Batgirl to get a solo run. Both characters were written out of continuity with the New 52 reboot and only recently became Batgirls again
On saving clayface. Batman rule is not to kill ppl and even if scenario is bad saves them. At the start of detective comics rebirth run clayface was part of Batman’s team with robin, spoiler, batwoman and orphan. Been a while I read that series so I don’t know if clayface is still on the team.
There are a lot of characters, but i dont think you miss anything by not knowing them all. They introduce them and you see them as a good guy or bad guy. Thats all you really need. If if becomes important to the plot, it will be shown or explained. Dont get hung up on not knowing everything.
Simon Stag was in an episode of The Flash and also made some appearances in Justice League but overall he is just a less memorable corrupt business man archetype than like Lex Luthor. Where he is another corrupt business man doing criminal acts but most of the time it is more incompetence creating meta villains(Multiplex in The Flash) or heroes in the form of Metamorpho(In Justice League) than a calculated evil genius against the Justice League. I believe he is more a Batman villain in the comics but not 100% on that. Shade is also in a couple episodes of Justice League but as a member of the Secret Society which was a team with Grodd, Parasite, Sinestro, Killer Frost and Giganta. His design is similar here to where he is recognizable but also very different as in the Justice League cartoon he had a top hat, no mask(At least I think. He does have a weird face) but black sunglasses, cane and wore all black.
I think Eric has this fallacy that every named character is supposed to be a main character. Spoiler alert they're not. Just because Arrowette, Spoiler and Orphan are named characters. They're all tertiary characters, and they're not important, so you shouldn't focus on them. They're there to give the world depth and variety. It's like Justice League unlimited, not every hero in that show is a main character or even a secondary character, but having them there makes the world feel alive and (in YJ's Case) give possible content for comics.
I've said this in another episode: I'm in the same boat when it comes to only knowing certain character names but not who they are. That doesn't mean the writers have "left us behind". The versions in this show are not necessarily the ones in comics. They're also supporting characters that help elevate this world. We don't need to know everyone's backstory.
Mist seems to be essentially "Secret" from the Young Justice Comics as she has the same powers, although that character already technically exists in the YJ TV show. Secret was the ghost from the episode "Secrets." It would be interesting if these two characters ended up being the same character.
Well I suppose the secret task force was the best plan to save people at the time since the league was being restricted by the UN because of Lex Luthor's control over it. Also that YJ version of Livewire was different from the bad one we've always known.
If you never heard of Spoiler or Orphan, you need to read more Batman comics ;) Arrowette was a member of Young Justice in the comics, where she was part of Tim Drake´s team, the relationship between Tim and Cass (AKA Orphan, AKA Batgirl) was deep in the comics and even more with Steph (AKA Spoiler, AKA Batgirl, AKA Robin). Anyway for me it´s Great that Young justice has always been a big open mirror to DC, but I get it can be confusing to occasional viewers
My favorite character in all of fiction showed up for all of 5 minutes hooray! Even if Orphan is still a shitty code name, and they could have totally just made her Batgirl because Babs is Oracle in this. There's just no Batgirl I guess.
Tbh I like to think of myself as a decently well-read DC fan, and I also have absolutely no idea who the fuck Arrowette is. Thankfully it doesn't really make a difference, because this season of Young Justice is so aggressively scatterbrained that we basically never see her again anyway...
How is it scatterbrained? Batfamily isnt this seasons focus, so we dont see much of them. This season is plot focused, and seems to be centered mostly around a plot about halo, cyborg, the light's deal with darksied, and granny goodness. Anybody around those characters or story arc, are going to get more screentime.
