CLOSE CALLS!!! A380 AND 747 Do Go-Around at Miami International Airport

  • When landing, if the runway is not clear, an airplane will do a go-around and try again, when an american A321 took to long on the runway the Lufthansa A380 had to do a go-around and land again, the second airplane was unsure of his alignment with the runway when the British airways 747-400 did the go-around.

The sound and the look of that A-380, beautiful! The sound and look of the 747, even more beautiful!! I find all of these big 4 engined airplanes are at their most graceful when they fly slowly, like we see here. So much lift generated by those huge wings. Great video, the aviation geek in me really enjoyed this (enough to watch it a second time)!

@@tikycz8261 I do like the A340 very much myself, nice sleek design, I like the way it has an extra set of rear wheels in the centre. The longest type of A340 (A340-600), is actually longer than the 747 and A380.

This is why I will never understand the US system of being cleared to land before the runway is clear. In the UK landing clearance is given on short final if there is traffic ahead, and if so it's normally "continue approach, number 2" or similar terminology is used.

ukaviationimages: Have u taken a look @ ATC regs? There are time, distance & speed criteria in which u have stated that are followed as part of aircraft separation (it's a 'block' of airspace around each aircraft being controlled) when for good &/or bad reasons where a 'go around' is necessary or required. Not ALL SITUATIONS are ideal nor 'controllable' by ATC in which it more practical to default to a wave off. Better SAFE than SORRY!

The American system is no more dangerous than the bizarre way that Europe allows towers to tell departing aircraft to lineup behind aircraft that haven't even touched down yet.
Both are fraught with the same perils, and the other system specifically denies the right to do what is normally done across the ocean.

And with regards to your comment 'it is common for American Airports to give clearance to land even if the runway is not clear', it seems you're unaware that this type of landing clearance is actually common throughout the world, and is known as a 'qualified landing clearance', were there is reasonable assurance that the required runway separation will exist at the time the landing aircraft crosses the runway threshold.

If I was air traffic control I wouldn't let an American a321 into such a tight gap would u?

The American Airlines plane should not be allowed by the ATC to enter the runway because the Lufthansa plane was in procedure of landing already !

So what happened to the plane that didn’t take off on time, is there some sort of write up, I’m just asking

Not usually, unless there's an obvious lack of competency and professionalism on the part of the pilot. They might be asked to call the tower supervisor after they land to ascertain why they were slow to roll, and it's left at that.

See that all the time at all airports! The ATC tells the taxing craft he's got incoming behind him at 3-4-5 mi. The taxing craft will get dicking around and not launch!

Americans give landing clearance while the runway is still occupied. I have no bloody idea why, but to me that defeats the very purpose of a landing clearance.
In europe, giving an unconditional landing clearance legally means "I guarantee you that no other aircraft, vehicle or person is knowingly on the runway, and that I have not cleared anyone else to penetrate it"

Alternatively, you might want to ask the A321 pilot why they were slow to commence the takeoff roll?

    • @nathanaelmalm5641

A380 performed a go-around because an American airlines B737 was ockupying the active runway, where the a380 was gonna land.
The 747, honestly I have no clue why it performed a go-around

    • @thebrummierailenthusiasts5329

I suggest that jumbo pilot was abit too high to land here that is why he made a go around
