I've always been taught at IELTS Advantage to outline (assert) the main points of my body paragrpahs in the introduction. Which is why I'm confused because the ideas are only vaguely presented in Simon's introductions.

I am thinking for the topic sentence of Opinion question, should we write : ....................students should be made to do some voluntary work in their local communities. because there is "unpaid service" in the question

I guess “be made to do” tell a lot, taking place of “compulsory. And volunteering/voluntary has a slightly different meaning or scope comparing to compulsory, in some subtle ways
