Thanks for the shout out Russ, appreciate it! Your door components look awesome, great work on those. Does that electric window setup work for the early second gens as well?
Thanks Dan, I think it will. Its listed as a 70-81 so it should . The 72 is a true Z car, so I'm going to stay with manual on it. I probably regret it every time I drive it though.
Omg, thank you so much!! I was always worried about finding a 1780 Camaro with all the different things I want but no powered windows, and thought it would take forever to find the perfect car for a good amount of cash too. But now I don’t have to worry about the car having or not having powered windows because now I know there’s a way to make it to powered windows. I don’t want to hand crank a window because I’m lazy 😭
I can't wait to see you put them together Russ because it has been a while since you restored all of those components and it will also mean that you are one step closer to getting both cars done
Russ, you're such a wealth of knowledge...I feel like I now need to buy a second Genner Camaro just so I can finally take advantage, haha. I'm always a fan of a good pro-form g build...have to go check it out
Did you paint/powder coat the tracks also? If so wouldn't that potentially cause issues later with the track wheels? What parts did you paint? Did you sandblast them all? Im about to do this project myself.
I cut a thick cardboard strip and slid it into the tracks once I had them clean. I used simple green and an small brush to clean out all the old grease. Once blasted I cleaned the tracks again, and placed new cardboard in them to protect them and painted them. I didn't powder coat any of the tracks just paint, and the insides of the tracks was left bare metal. Hope it helps. Thanks Russ
Sorry just wondering what kit you used for power windows upgrade as am considering for my 71 camaro including wiring harness as weblink now goes to ebay ?
Electric-Life GM85-7081-K, That's the problem with these older links. This is the kit I got. The reviews on it seemed to be mixed. Some say that the window doesn't go up very fast. I would say that all the parts need to be cleaned and re-greased prior to install. I haven't installed mine yet.
Thanks, might have to put clear door panels on. lol. I did go overboard on some of these parts, but I had fun working on them. I don't want to do another set for awhile.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to locate the fellow I bought it from on the camaro forum. Looks like a great kit imo. If things ever slow down some and I can get some help, it might be something we would reproduce.
@@DoubleRRestorations Did you ever get those electric life regulators installed. man those are $$$$$$ but i have no choice lol. Almost 300 bucks for harness and over 400 bucks for the regulators. $700 plus for the conversion. Not a poor mans hobby anymore.
That's a sweet window kit! Oh, by the way if you move that Camaro over to the left a little bit you would have so much more room for activities, it's making my head spin. LOL, nice glass!
how did the install turn out? i have a pretty beat up 1981 z28 and am thinking about trying to put in auto windows bc its so hot where i live, and i have no ac- so im always rollin with the windows down!! it also rains all the time (louisiana- i live in a dang swamp) and its a struggle to roll the windows up while driving! i have literally no experience with these types of things but am just gonna give it a go :p
You can do it. I haven't installed mine yet.I have all the hardware ready, but still need to install the skin. My projects have really been slow the past year. I hope to be back on them steady within a few weeks.
That"s a great question. To be honest, I'm not real sure. I know the window tracks have stops for the uppers, and I know there is a stop bracket for bottom travel. This harness has a module for the automatic down, so its something in the module. I have seen some short clips of it in operation on the nastyZ site and its pretty sweet!
@@DoubleRRestorations Do you take specific requests on videos by chance? I'm looking for a video for removal of the dash (upper and lower), I have a '79 and a ton of wiring to do.

Power windows is a must! Lol. Thanks for watching.
Not that I'll ever be restoring a Camaro but I'm really enjoying following your journey! ☺️
Thanks Niamh. I sure am enjoying working on these cars for sure. I'm glad to hear your enjoying these vids.
Hi Russ. This will be a good series of videos on the electric window change over. Looking forward to them.
Thanks Wiley.
I can't wait to see you put them together Russ because it has been a while since you restored all of those components and it will also mean that you are one step closer to getting both cars done
Me too Darrin. Once the 72 is done, I think I will really enjoy building this 81.
Your work and attention to detail is amazing. Those window regulators are sweet.
Thanks for the kind words Wyatt. They will be really cool for the 81
Those power windows will be a nice addition to the car.
Thanks Lloyd. I really would like to have them in the 72 also, but with it being a true Z, I'm keeping it mostly original.
Thank you good looking stuff.
Thanks John
Nice window regulator set !
Thanks Roger.
Good update as usual. Those will be some very nice cars when you get them finished.
Thanks Roger. This 81 will be a ways away, but I hope I can get one of them done soon. lol. Probably retirement projects though. lo
If that is what it takes that's ok. The best thing is to have something to do when you retire.
@@rogerstilwell7767 Thanks Roger. I'm just having fun working on it, which is the main thing. Looking forward to retirement though. Lol

Thanks for the kinds words. A late second gen would be a great car for your next project. lol. Dan has some great content.

Hey Russ - did you ever get a link for that harness?
I sent the guy an email, but never heard anything back.
Good info, Russ. Will check out RestoCar.
Thanks Indy
Nice parts.
