Camping is amazing!!! Especially at night!! When the last plane leaves and the ferry is gone, the island is all yours until the next day. You can rent camping gear from a company in Key West. All primitive camping, they do have small grills for cooking; keep in mind...it's pack in, pack out. That includes all of your trash!!!! Bathrooms are provided.
Thank You! Planning a trip to key west in 2 months. Probably will take the Ferry as my husband does not like flying but hopefully the waters are not too rocky in September.
Of course!!! It should be okay!! I recommend good travel insurance as it is hurricane season or at least be prepared. September should be a good time to go as it is still low season and prices for hotels should be decent
Honestly not bad, truly. I usually do the 10am plane so I leave when you arrive and by that time the boat people are already over it (by 12pm) and many are sitting in the boat for lunch. They are doing a tour with the ranger (usually finishing around then) or snorkeling on one of the beaches. But around 12:30ish seems to be when a lot get tired and I get it, considering the boat takes over 3 hours. It’s going to be epic and enjoyable for sure!!!
@FollowMeAway perfect! I wad worried spending so much on a seaplane for the most crowded hours, but that makes sense. I'm curious how many people are there to enjoy it or just go because it's touristy. This makes me think of Channel Islands NP. Half my group in the ferry were so invested and kept busy until the ferry came back, and the others were pretty much over it.
Love it there been there in 2019 it was about $175 per person at the time taking the Yankee Freedom ferry. A lot of American history and loved seeing Dr. Samuel Mudd prison cell.
I have had luck booking about a month in advance (bc I wait ooopsies) but yes it is crucial to book well in advance which I emphasize anytime I talk about this trip!
I camped there in October 2019 and LOVED it! It was still hot at that time, but the breezes never stopped, so👍🏻
Lucky!!!
Love the video. I really appreciate the tips and for sharing your experience. I'm already planning my seaplane trip!
Yay! You won’t regret it!
Girl! I can't believe you got that close to the edge
What a BEAUTIFUL place!!
On my bucket list now after watching this!
You must go!!
Thank you! Very informative.
Thank you!!

You doooo!!! It’s so pretty!
Beautiful! Is the water too cold for a December trip?
Nope! I’ve done Jan and March trips and it was fine!
How bad are the crowds on the island? Got lucky with a last minute seaplane trip, but it leave at 12pm, so the ferry crowds are already there.

what is the official website to book? we wanna go!
Are you looking to book the seaplane or the ferry?
Can you fish on the island?
It’s almost impossible to book a trip cause it’s always sold out

Quick question- were you flying a drone at dry tortugas? Or is the footage from your phone?
