- Cantaloupe, like many other members of the Cucurbitaceae family, produce both male and female flowers on the same plant. You can tell the difference between male and female flowers by looking at the base of the blossoms. Female flowers have a bulge just below the blossom, which is the unfertilized fruit. Once pollinated, or fertilized, the fruit grows and matures into the sweet cantaloupe, squash or cucumber.
Very informative. New subscriber here.
Thanks for the information.
I wish I knew this beforehand... I've this amazing cantaloupe growing with no fruit... Might be too late to pollinate it though... Thank you.
It will produce more
omg, a paintbrush. How obvious and easily overlooked; I have hundreds laying around. You just changed my garden's life.
Yessss. I love that for you
My cantaloupe plant only seems to have male flowers right now.
Is it better to pollinate the same plant, or pollinate plant A with plant B and cross-pollinate? Is there a difference in the success rate or fruit?
Growing cantaloupe for the first time and came upon your video after searching the difference between the male/female flowers
Thank you so much for all this info!!
🙏✝️
You are most welcome!
Your voice is so gorgeous 😍
Nice to see you it's been a long time since you uploaded a video.. nice video sweet vibes...
Why would my cantaloupe stopped producing flowers? I have one melon growing and it stopped blooming for weeks now.
Use miracle grow garden and vegetable fertilizer or you can use the brand for tomatoes because it helps the plant produce the maximum amount of flowers rapidly. Whenever it stop producing flowers, it's a sign for the lack of nutrients.
If you only have males open, and no females on the way, can you pick the male flowers and refrigerate them until the female flowers are ready? I know you can do this with cucumbers, but can it be done with cantaloupe?
Interesting question. I think so!
Do you find you get no fruit unless you hand pollinate? Mine have male and female flowers I see pollinators on them but no fruit is growing
Normally the first batch of female flowers will mostly fall off
Oh my goodness I'm so glad this came up on my search..thank you
Thanks much Honeybee

How many female flowers can you brush with one male flower after removing the petals?
As long as there are pollen on the flower you can use it up on as many as you want
Thanks
What is the big clusters on the plant
It's the ovary of the female part
@@growwithhoneybee7745 thanks babe
