I am so grateful I had the opportunity to stay with a local family in the rural village in Zambia called Batoka. They are from the Tonga Tribe, and I was blown away at the hospitality they showed me. Right now it is rainy season, so they have been busy planting their corn crops as that is the main staple of their diet. They village was rural, but a bit more modern then I expected. Everyone in the village was so excited to have a foreigner visiting at it is a very rare occurrence there. I did my best to learn some of the Tonga language, but it is actually quite hard! What a beautiful culture it is.

Zambia was the very 1st country The Amazing Race went to, and teams got to visit Victoria Falls, zip line across Bakota Gorge, go on a safari at the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, and rafting down the Zambezi River.

That's African people for you we are very welcoming people we don't care who you are what the skin of your color is, we see you as another human who wants to learn about another human culture. I'm glad you had a pleasurable experience in Zambia 🇿🇲 Tonga Tribe are a very nice tribe and I love the village as well, I'm not a kitty 🐈 person more of a dog lover, but I do love the little kitty it's so adorable 🙏🏽🙏🏽😍😍

I am so lost for words. Not sure what took you to Batoka oh how you got there but im sure it was a trip that left lasting memories not just in you but also the wonderful people of that village. Sitting here in my cozy living room in Ireland and watching your video, all i could see is Love, Humility and respect for the culture of the local people. You could have pointed out all the things you may have found challenging to adjust to such as "no hair dryer, no electricity, no running water" but instead you chose to embrace what you found and became one with the people. Last time i met such an amazing person like you, i married her. With a heart and attitude like that, you can surely call anywhere on earth home. Love and respect from your New Zambian/Irish fans. Call in for a caeli as they say in Ireland if you ever came to this neck of the wood. Keep loving sister!

My only disappointment is that we didn't see you eat the masuku fruit. Some clever chap in the eighties made masuku wine from it which gained some popularity.

Very very nice Petrina and you are explaining the surroundings, how you had seen with your eye, how you are easily making friendship and also behaving like one of the family member of your friends. Nearly 60years back in our childhood in India also mist of the houses in rural area are constructed with mud just like in Zambia. Actually it will not absorb the heat like the concrete jungle. We used to do farming and I had done farming at my 30s with bulls etc. It is very very enjoyable situation. Thanks for your detailed posting touched my heart and hope that you should be always happy and follow the safety tips always my dear Petrina Daughter.
