I love how Rick didn't use an AI or something, he CLONED another Jerry to trick Beth.
Or rather spliced Jerry's DNA with some alien fungus thing whose primary objective was apparently to eat the world.
Rick's version of time travel is actually different from the snake's version. Rick's time travel forms a logical and consistent loop. The Snakes time travel is paradox tolerant so every timer they go back it creates a new future.
Almost. Rick's timeline is not fully without a paradox, although the one that's there may have a consistent explanation... the hats are the paradox...!
Btw, the testicle monsters seem to have time travel of their own as well.
@@krzyszwojciech The testicle monsters exist outside of time. Meaning they are unaffected by past events changing and are able to traverse it freely.
@@Skana @Skane-kun that's one way to put it. Of course the challenge is to create an ontology that would accomodate and model all things we've seen in a consistent way. One way to approach it could be that time travel into the past would naturally create branches, crystalizing them whole. In which case Rick would have to take some special steps to keep himself in his original timestream allowing for the loop to exist consistently in the timeline.
It could also be the case that Rick travelled into a different branch and the Rick and Morty they gave the books and hats to were not really them.
The time travel with branching largely allows to get rid of the paradoxes, although not necessaritly the fact that the defeated snakes selectively disappeared from Rick's timeline, not affecting anyone's memories of these events. I guess it's easier here to explain it as the power of the monsters.

@@Jzombi301 It's called a bootstrap paradox. As far as we've seen, they were never created, only given, as if they perpetually existed in the very time loop.
This could be explained ofc by offscreen events. One set of hats could have been destroyed, the other created at some other point.

Seriously, am I the only one here who knows what Terminator is...
I mean, they didnt really change the time travel rules, they just used a stable time loop, ya know, a grandfather paradox sort of thing:
1. Individual requires something
2. Individual meets future self in the present who gives required item
3. Future individual travels back to when they left for the past
4. original individual moves throughout their journey normally and obtains item to give themself
5. They go back in time to give themself the item
6. They travel back to the moment immediately after they left for the past
Its an infinitely stable time loop which prevents a paradox from forming through the manipulation of time, I understand this solely thanks to a webcomic called homestuck

Even though I already watched this on the Patreon release.... just playing it again while I do other stuff to get you all the view.
I love this episode, was happy to see the beautiful Ms. Cary show up, though it is nice to know she's just been doing more BTS work and not gone. But with this episode Kendell and Bukola felt me, snake jazz was pretty hype, I liked it. I heard Elon Musk actually uploaded it as an external sound on Tesla cars as they're so quiet it was determined they should make a sound for safety reasons and snake jazz was one of the default sounds he put up lmao.

I love how in an episode about time travelling snakes somehow Jerry holding on to the plan makes the least sense.
