As someone who deployed 5 times in under 12 years with little kids and a wife back home, the last couple years of military service became increasingly harder to deal with for me, and my family. I made the decision to cut the cord on military time 6 years before retirement. To me, that extra check every month is not worth what I was putting my family through. Andy, at this stage in your life, a good goal to set is to take at least 2 wks ea Sept, Oct, and Nov off for hunting, Mulies in velvet for 1st wk Sept, then elk, moose 1st half of Oct and maybe waterfowl in about 15th-25th range in Oct and finally deer in Nov.
