Hi Maria. I'm a law graduate in Italy but I never had 1 year of practice with a law firm as I followed a different career path. I would like to work as lawyer in a corporate in Dubai. Do you suggest to do 1 year practice in my country and then start working in Dubai or can I move to Dubai straight and do the practice there? Thank you!

    Hi Maria!
Firstly, thank you for the informative videos, they are truly helpful!
What are the necessary steps I should to take to become a qualifying solicitor in the UAE with a LLB degree from the UK? I'm slightly worried at the moment with all these daunting applications for vacation schemes and training contracts - I don't even know if this is the way to go if I want to work in UAE after graduating.
    Seeking advice.
    Yours, Sulaiman

Maria, thank you so much for this video! So helpful! I just wanted to confirm something: I graduated with a UK law degree (but have not qualified as a UK lawyer because I haven't done the bar exam or the training contract). I am 25, and start work with a local law firm next month. So, in my case, all I need to qualify as UAE lawyer (legal consultant) as a foreign law graduate is to just have one year experience? I haven't checked if Cambridge University is accredited here, but I'm just assuming it is. Any help would be appreciated and thank you for this amazing video! I'm a new subscriber :)

I'm unsure of the document that you are trying to legalise but you should contact the Embassy that you think that is closest for confirmation. MOFA page should be of help in this respect.

What are my chances in landing a job at least as a para legal. I am 39 years of age?. Will my Age be a problem? I am also a Member of the Sri Lanka Bar Association.

The issue that I see is the language barrier to get to the cases as soon as they are out. We lawyers have databases but usually it takes a bit of time until cases are translated.

I would expect the answer to be based on immigration laws and regulations and visa applications, usually are processed with difficulty (unless proper reason) for above 65-70

can you be a lawyer in UAE or Saudi Arabia or Qatar or Oman? my honest answer is NO ! Arab countries have Islamic Sharia and Arab culture and traditions play bigger role in laws which are tribal laws in general and seriously weird laws bcuz they are based on Arab culture and traditions and customs ! Women rights and children rights and minorities rights and social rights and political laws are 360 times different then the Internationally recognized American or British or Europe laws ! civil system is totally different! example :
    - Women rights : children born from local women but forighn fathers are called Abna al mowatenaat meaning children of local women and they recieve half rights of locals according to there tribal culture and traditions and Jozor al Qamar and nationality is complicated and women cant go out of her home and drive and educate and travel without her male guardians approval called Mehram and women receive half male inheritance and cant marry and divorce herself but needs permission of her male guardians and much much more weird laws which are totally tribal and desert and Arab beduoin laws ! its not an ideal nation to work as a lawyer ! GCC is failed. only fellow Arabs can work as lawyers there except them no! you need to study Arab laws approved by the Arab league without understanding Beduin tribal system of culture you cant be a lawyer in Dubai or Duha or anywhere else in GCC and Arab world.
