Hi Julia you’ve mentioned there are people who have used their experience in local law firms and moved to Dubai, what areas of Law would you recommend for someone making that change? Would really appreciate the advice!
Hi Julia, great videos. Congrats on the move. You are living the dream =) What reading materials would you recommend for those wanting to get a feel of the JD course prior to enrolment? Thanks
Hi Yuri, thank you for watching my videos. In terms of reading materials - that’s a questions that gets asked a lot. Your first few weeks will be a Foundations course and it’ll be readings such as particular cases and interpretation of legislation. I would just broadly familiarize yourself with the legal system, court hierarchy, read a few publicly available court judgments. I assume this is for Australian JD?
@@JuliaKimMurphy thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Super kind of you. Yes it's for Aus. JD. I will try searching for reading materials related to the above, do you happen to remember any good online resources from your past studies? Complete newbie here and coming from a non-law discipline. Thank you so much. Your videos are so inspiring.
@@yurim4632 there’s no one particular online resource but all federal court, high court judgments are publicly available online. Austli is a good tool for legal research… maybe just do a google of Australian court system to understand the system, try to get a grip on what it means to be a federation and the laws that apply to different states and federal level, understand a bit of the history of influence of English law in aus legal system etc just all general knowledge that will help you build on what you know
Hi Julia, thanks for you video and you are so inspiring. I am now considering doing a JD or LLB degree in Melbourne but I am still struggling which one is the better option. I have obtained my bachelor degree in Melbourne a year ago. LLB is more cost-effective as the tuition is much cheaper due to CSP. Could you please give me some advice? Thanks in advance.
Hi Xiran, if you already have another degree I would have thought it would be easier to do a JD. There are options ( or were when I was studying) for CSP for JD as well. The LLB will take longer to complete and you’ll have to do yet another degree apart from law. It depends on what you want but I imagine if you want to be a lawyer or have a law degree the quickest option would be to complete the JD.
Hi mam... Can you give me some piece of advice? Currently I am working here in Dubai with quite decent salary with my wife and 2kids.. My question is which place is better to live with family in Dubai or in Australia? I got an offer from a sponsor in Australia but to make it fast he will send me first the 400 visa so that means my family needs to stay here until I had my PR or applied for 482visa...
Can someone like me with with an LLB Hons degree practice in another country after graduation Would I not need to do a JD Degree as I already will have an LLB hobs degree from an accredited university here in New Zealand. What is the process for a person with no legal work experience to work in another country to practice with the LLB Hons degree? Do you have any advice as I am trying to get legal experience but its very compedative and finding a job isn't easy here in NZ, Is there other countries to practice such as Australia , UK, Dubai, anywhere in Europe. What is the legal job market for a law graduate with the LLB Hons degree ?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Julia.
thank you for watching!
Welcome to Dubai
