I love seeing all the comments complaining about how poppy this song is. Seems like not many people seem to understand that satire needs to take the form of the thing it's mocking. And yes, this is me being all smug for "getting" the satire in this song.
+danieln1212 I still feel like, after literally every other song Icon for Hire has made, the listener should be able to tell the song isn't 100% straight when Ariel is singing lines like "move sucka throw it down" and "mindless music make it loud." But hey, what do I know.
+Darth Yoda It's like when Marianas Trench released "Pop 101" as a tongue-in-cheek satire of pop music and everyone claimed they were selling out. People are dumb.
+Darth Yoda totally agree... its icon, come on ppl if you really knew what they were all about then you would understand that this song is a joke......
+Edgar Vilhelm It's like when people read articles or watch videos by The Onion and think they're serious. Some people are just plain dumb, and they have no one to blame but themselves.
+Edgar Vilhelm Yep. Another artist who did satire so well it was confusing was the 80's Christian Synth-Rock artist Steve Taylor. Gotta love good satire.
People, before saying they've "gone pop" or asking "where the rock went", watch the video linked in the description! This song is MEANT to sound pop-y, and Ariel has already told us there will be more heavy rock music coming. Icon's not going anywhere!
[laughing] Now, I'm one of those people who also enjoys some pop, but the mockery here is *sooo* much fun! It's nice to see examples of mockery used for good rather than evil. :)
@@sylvanaswindrunner4357That's not quite true. There is popular music which is the majority of music people listen to. Then there is pop music which is a genre, it counts as popular music too but pop and popular are not the same thing. Popular music is music that is made to be distributed for large audiences. Popular music is genres like, pop, hip hop, rock, metal, punk, blues, jazz, electronic, folk, country, easy listening, industrial, experimental, R&B, Soul, Funk, Reggae etc. You notice this is the music genres most people listen to, that's what counts as popular music. What is not popular music is music that isn't marketed for the masses and that includes classical, regional music, traditional folk, traditional religious music, patriotic songs, sea shanties, music for games, movies, tv, theatres etc. I think you are thinking of mainstream music which is different and just means what is at the top of the charts. So you can get rock, R&B, Hip Hop, Country and other genres that have been in the mainstream. Pop music also has underground and many independent artists who do pop music aren't mainstream so that's why they're called underground. Examples of underground pop musicians are Lenii, Virginia Wing, Kroy. Pop music has subgenres too. There is Art pop, Alternative pop, Experimental pop, dance pop, synth pop, electro pop, orchestral pop, pop punk, pop rock, power pop, emo pop, ambient pop, indie pop, teen pop and many more subgenres of pop.
How do people not see the first sentence of the description? You don't have to show more for it. It says "Making fun of pop music...with a banging pop song." Chill guys. Hahah I love this song!
When I first heard this, coming over from some of your old songs, at first I was like OMGSH WTF HAPPENED... but then I realized you were making fun of the pop genre and I just appreciated it so much more.
+Peter Hoffman even if their new song has electronic sounds in it, it doesnt make it any less of the genre they are now. Their music is evolving. Synth metal has electronic sounds in it, it doesnt make it any less metal, so i dont see how having electronic sounds in their new song makes them any less rock?
never realized until right now after looking through these comments that this song was satire, cuz i genuinely enjoy it & didn't care if it was more "poppy" than their usual stuff. still gonna continue loving it, my brain just never connected the dots until now XD
Actually it’s from marble hornet but people also associate the symbol with slender man and the proxy’s from the creepy pasta and masky and hoody are from the marble hornet to and not originally a creepy pasta.
+judas goat She still goes by Ariel, I don't know a single person who has ever referred to her as Amy. Also their band is called "Icon For Hire", so satire is practically in their blood, dissing everything is something to be expected.
+judas goat They're not dissing everything. Their label was controlling their music, and Icon For Hire barely saw any of the money that they made. They were selling more, yes, but they were actually struggling harder to pay the bills. And that "twelve year old" fan base you spoke of donated over 124,000 dollars to fund You Can't Kill Us.
A fantastically written satire of a topic that definitely deserves all the snarky sarcasm we can throw at it. And, actually, a very good pop song. As far as pop songs go.
I seriously love every single one of their songs, even if the style did change. I mean it is kinda upsetting watching your favorite band change no matter what it is, but that doesn't mean it's bad
I wasn't sure about the song when I first listened to it but it's really grown on me! I bought one of the first copies of the EP at Nashville Warped Tour this year.
Since most people are confusing that symbols to be the "Proxy" symbol. Technically this is the IOH symbol. But actually the symbol for all you not Slenderverse fans, its the Marble Hornets symbol, and Marble Hornets is the reason for Tim(Masky) amd Brian(Hoodie)
Great job with the irony ! Of course, I find this song a little too poppy but it's for a good reason. It is so hard to find intelligent songs today and you guys often put a critical look on music industry, which is so more interesting than commercial popo music. This song isn't my favorite but it's okay, fun and smart enough. Keep being critic, keep having fun with your music and don't let people judge what you should do or not. Don't lose yourself ;)
This. Is. Better. Than. Actual. Pop music.. Love u Icon for making fun of something and it is better than what you are making fun of. WE WANT THAT BAM BAM POP
This song is awesome, it made my day. Come on, just listen to the lyrics and you'll understand it's so not Icon for Hire, and yet, it's so like them. One of their best songs so far
i love this song i listen to it..i normally hate fasts ongs but holly cow this is the bomb! i love you icon for hire! plz continue with the amazing song and one day i hope i can go to one of your concerts #love icon for hire
To all of the people who think is badly written/has bad lyrics, the lyrics are intentional. They're meant to be simple. Also, the lyrics make it quite amusing, which is a good thing. Especially since it's a parody.
Something about the way this song's been produced has the bass and the other instrumentals almost drowning out the vocals save for the chorus (the "we want that Bam Bam Pop!" part), and I can't tell if it was really done on purpose as a statement on how often people care so little for the mind behind the music in the music industry, or if something's just weird with this video. (Knowing Icon, it was done on purpose, which just makes me love this song even more, honestly.)
You guys said the song was now available everywhere. Yet I still don't see it up on Amazon. Please put it up there I really want to buy it and I don't use iTunes.
I'm so happy this and 'Now You Know' are available on a physical copy!! I've wanted this song for ages, but don't/can't use itunes. :D I just ordered it! Finally! :)
I love seeing all the comments complaining about how poppy this song is. Seems like not many people seem to understand that satire needs to take the form of the thing it's mocking.

+Darth Yoda totally agree... its icon, come on ppl if you really knew what they were all about then you would understand that this song is a joke......
+LeaffyStar19 I'll have to politely disagree with you there. I personally love it, though I recognize it's not gonna be a style everyone likes.
I know it's satire but damn is this a better pop song than actual pop songs.
Lol No kidding
True. That's just sad. The song that's mocking is better
No better way to say it, love this, hahaha
TheCaptainsAntics yes yes
TheCaptainsAntics This is rock song. Not pop.
When your satire game is so strong people mistake it for the real thing. Good job Icon.
Yes man yes
Indeed, my ally, so many don't get what you and I did
Edgar Vilhelm Ikr!
People, before saying they've "gone pop" or asking "where the rock went", watch the video linked in the description! This song is MEANT to sound pop-y, and Ariel has already told us there will be more heavy rock music coming. Icon's not going anywhere!
judas goat ?
+judas goat She's not Amy, she's Ariel.
+Blackberry Cupcake I'm honestly not even sure HE knew what he was talking about lol
+HeliosXII Maybe he has mistaken IFH with Evanescence?
Or he's a troll!
...yep, definitely a troll

Agreed. :)
“We’ll make history before we ever make a million” holy shit. I love icon for hire so much.
if pop music was more like this i might actually occasionally to it
Once again. If Icon for hire turn to pop music again I will stop hearing it. I don't like pop music
@@adam.3252 pop music just really means popular music... not an actual genre but an idea O.o

Really people? It says in the description and I quote, "Making fun of pop music...with a banging pop song." xD

Same
I will never understand how I find the perfect Icon for Hire song for my mood
Daaamn this is catchy af holy shit
Bam bam pop, I like this a lot ^___^
+Peter Hoffman Best Icon for Hire song.
+Peter Hoffman it was made to mock the genre
Light Yagami
That's ironic, because their new song has even techno in it. What a joke.
+Peter Hoffman even if their new song has electronic sounds in it, it doesnt make it any less of the genre they are now. Their music is evolving.
Synth metal has electronic sounds in it, it doesnt make it any less metal, so i dont see how having electronic sounds in their new song makes them any less rock?

still gonna continue loving it, my brain just never connected the dots until now XD
Honestly one of their best songs so far.
This is one of my favorite Icon songs XD it's cynical and fun to dance to, what more could you ask for?
only pop song will ever-
HOLD UP IS THAT A PROXY SYMBOL
operator symbol
Actually it’s from marble hornet but people also associate the symbol with slender man and the proxy’s from the creepy pasta and masky and hoody are from the marble hornet to and not originally a creepy pasta.
Icon For Hire are Slender's Proxies? Mega plot twist..
Kat yis
This song is everything, and people seem to have gotten over themselves and are more positive in the comments
*Buys song in the middle of listening*
+judas goat Paid $5 for the CD with this song and Now You Know on it. Lol I was a bit disappointed

I love everything about this damn band. and the fact that they're from around my area just makes me love them 1000 times more.
I love the song since the first time!
So happy for gooooooooood new songs from ya'll!!!!! I LOVE you Ariel!!!
A fantastically written satire of a topic that definitely deserves all the snarky sarcasm we can throw at it. And, actually, a very good pop song. As far as pop songs go.
Woohoo!!!!! I will always love everything you make!! This is so catchy! I can't wait to hear the heavier stuff on the next album! SOO Exicted!!!
I love the sarcasm just oozing out of this.
Also, was Nothing wrong with a little bit of Confidence referencing Demi's song?
best line "This sick beat just makes me sick"
I seriously love every single one of their songs, even if the style did change. I mean it is kinda upsetting watching your favorite band change no matter what it is, but that doesn't mean it's bad
Once again making fun of pop music and pop culture I love it cuz I hate both of those things that's also why I love Icon For Hire!
Similar subject matter to "Pop Culture," (unless I am mistaken) although I prefer that song.
Good to see new stuff, anxiously awaiting a new album!
+tehufn Pop Culture seems to take a more sinister yet trapped approach, whereas this is a more mocking tone.
+kyle alton I can see that
I honestly love this song, but I don't know if I'm supposed to lol. You know, since it's basically making fun of itself the entire time.
I found this band a year ago and they havent disappointed amazing every step of the way you guys are amazing as always
Loving you guys more and more! Rock on!
My favorite pop music
i actually love pop music and pretty much anything that sounds good to me, just like this song 8D
This is an exceptionally good pop song
Bam bam pop pop, i like this a lot lot
is that the Proxy symbol?
Yes.
No it's the operator symbol idiot
I like how self-aware this popsong is. I also like how it both confronts and entertains me.
Icon for Hire is one of my favorite bands. Not only is their music amazing, their songs have meaning. Plus Ariel's voice is lovely.
Icon coming~ ;3
AMAZING JOB! This is just perrrrrfff.
The Proxy Symbol!!! I'm wondering if they are secretly apart of it or just a fan. Either way....THE FANGIRL HAS COME OUT OF ME!
I wasn't sure about the song when I first listened to it but it's really grown on me! I bought one of the first copies of the EP at Nashville Warped Tour this year.
THAT'S THE PROXY SYMBOL!!!!!!!!

you mean operator?
Slender~ :D
That's what I thought
Anti-Flag also uses it, and they've been around a lot longer.
