Always keep an eye out but UK equivalents of thrift shops are really lacking in what they put out for sale. Something like 80% of donations they bin, it's tragic
Man. You either have much better thrift shops near you that I do, or you just have a magic power to sense them. I've been doing some scratch bashing lately but this is such a great base to start with!
That’s a nice thrift store find! From a video creator perspective, I liked how you explained what Frostgrave is while you were painting the ice - a great way to keep viewer attention while showing what might have been the more tedious part of the paint job - a very engaging video. It was fitting to have the Mother’s Day interruption happen while you were “playing with your toys”. 😂
Absolutely phenomenal stuff! This must be one of the best Playmobil pieces I've seen fit for converting into tabletop terrain! And the paintjob looks great! Btw, love that Reaper Carnivorous Cabbage in one of those final shots! Such a fun mini! xD
Great looking piece of terrain. I've made some furnace type things out of Gatorade bottles. It turned out decent. And some reactors out of egg cartons which were meh.
I have a set nearly just like the one in the video sitting in the basement and I might set up an E-bay thing to get rid of some of that. Also have some other old stuff. Hell half the stuff in my basement falls under that category.
Great video! I buy my kids the kinder eggs 100% knowing they'll lose interest in the toys and I can repurpose them for future minis/greebles/bits, etc....😁
I definitely my toys with wargames in mind. I bought my 3 year-old Star Wars toys for Christmas last year... because I play Star Wars Legion. I also have my eye on his dinosaurs and toy shark collection for D&D.
I havent yet found a toy from a thrift store that I could repurpose for terrain (except a tiny rowboat!) But I have found some aquarium pieces that are perfect as scatter terrain.
Yes I have but there is a caveat...lol I just use pieces from a toy that I bought from a garage sale that I used on other pieces of terrain to make them as more of accent pieces than anything to give more flare moxie if you will
What a great find! I like to repurpose toys I find at thrifts stores too. Right now I am repainting some pirate ships in order to display them for the holidays. Did you make the stone walls I see in the background on this video also? They look great too.
Confession from a Parent: I stole Hotwheels and a couple other vehicles for Gaslands, some just for the wheels. I Know I Know!!!! I'm going to Hell hahaha
just subbed. I used to paint led miniatures and Styrofoam mountains but that was back in 'the day'. I am curious to see what techniques have changed. Quick edit: what paints do you use?
@@MonsterPainter I always was conflicted. I enjoyed the setting of frostgrave a bit more, but ghost archipelago has a hero system that I think is more fun. I like wizards but having more options for my leader is refreshing
Have you made terrain out of thrift store toys?
I'm always searching for stuff like this whenever I go out! Such great potential for cheap and easy terrain :D
Never found anything with potential but always keeping an eye out

My local thrift shop is pretty good and I go hunting there all to frequently.

Well thank you, I appreciate your feedback, as I do enjoy your videos.
Wow! That definitely was the perfect find for a piece of Frostgrave terrain. Your paint job really made it pop! Well done sir.
Thank you
Nice find! I absolutely love thrift store finds for tabletop creations. I can't believe just how perfect this piece is for Frostgrave.
Thanks, yup it is totally Frostgrave.
That's a amazing job! Beautiful painting and great use of the toy. Wonderful!
Thank you

Perfect terrain for Frostgrave! Love it! Subscribed! Waves from across the pond!
Glad you enjoyed
That's a great find and it turned out great.
Thank you. It was a fun project.

Cool, I need to work on a big furnace. Good idea.
If it's solely for frostgrave some of that modellers snow sprinkled scarcely around the flat areas and corners would be amazing 😍
That could look good.
shift stores are SOOOOOOooooo Good for these types of builds!!!!!!
They really are.

A basement full of treasure

Excellent, nothing like forethought
you are very under rated, I don't know why you don't have more subscribers your videos are amazing
Thank you, it takes time. They will find me.
Wonderful work as ever
Thank you
Excellent work! I wasn't sure about that teal, but it came out great.
Thank you
Great find ☺️👍
Thank you
As always impressive job and lucky find!
Thank you
What a fantastic job, that is EPIC!
Thank you. Hey, please email me your address. So I can mail you the dice bag you won. Patersonleslie@gmail.com
Nice job on the time lapse work, great vid bud!!

Yup, aquarium stuff can make great terrain.
Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure.

Sounds totally fun
Looks great! Hope you varnished it though - gesso isn't the most durable of primers at the best of times, much less on that type of plastic.
I probably should varnish it shouldn’t I.
if anyone is interested, it's from the Redcoat Bastion set.
Thank you for that info. I am interested.
Wonderful!
Thank you
Play Mobile pieces make for great terrain, always lots of places to put Miniatures - Look out for Megablox pieces too
Yup Megablox are pretty cool.
It's a cool work ☺️☺️😍
Thank you

I don’t recall the walls, but they are probably from a kit.
I made terrain for 40k out of an old chocolate candies box
Nice job
Thank you. Love the idea of grim dark chocolate terrain.
Excellent!
Thank you
I've done it. I do it. You got me.

It is to easy to do.
just subbed. I used to paint led miniatures and Styrofoam mountains but that was back in 'the day'. I am curious to see what techniques have changed.
Quick edit: what paints do you use?
I use easel paints. Liquitex and Golden mostly. I used to be a serious easel painter and I have stuck with what I know.
Truth be told, I already do this with my kiddo.
As you should
>frostgrave
Respect. Played yhe hell out of that before I found a mordhiem group.
You ever try ghost archipelago?
Ghost Archipelago is fun, but there is so much more interest in Frostgrave.
@@MonsterPainter I always was conflicted. I enjoyed the setting of frostgrave a bit more, but ghost archipelago has a hero system that I think is more fun. I like wizards but having more options for my leader is refreshing
@@drewbakka5265 I agree, in many ways GA is a better system, but people want wizards.
You can put your dice that roll badly in the dungeon!
Excellent idea. I have some that deserve it.
how was the movie
We went to the Northman, meh.
There are several of my kids toys I'm waiting to poach once they've outgrown them lol
The rewards of patience
Anyone recognize it?
