It gets a little boring sometimes, i had to bite on my tongue to finish it the first time. However, one cannot deny the outstanding performance by Robert De Niro in this one. In fact, everything changed for him after this movie on a professional level, he was given a role by Martin Scorsese in Taxi Driver and later on he got to act in The Godfather II. Before Mean Streets, De Niro was barely recognized
this scene has good authentic dialogue and gives a hint of what goes on in neighborhoods like these, where guys with money can easily pay off cops. it's even funny how they start fighting again
