So I’d like to ask if you can do a video on how you plan to handle your cabin “vacancy” when you want an elongated break from cruising (perhaps with the idea of picking up cruising again in 6 months time). Do you plan on “subletting” your cabin, possibly even selling it outright? Have you researched this, have a preferred option in mind? Hi Angela, First you look so pretty in the opening of the video. I liked your lipstick color it really looked nice. I would tell my mom when we would get ready to go shop, Mom put on your lips. I wear a pink color when we go out. And Steve I read a few wrote ginger It really does help. You can buy a ginger supplement, hope you find help. Watching the Dakar stop, made me really appreciate living in the US. I would want to buy something from a few of their booths? Really cool things. But seeing how they live was sad. Buying stuff to help them, but with age I need to get rid of things. I will subscribe to U.tubers I really like to help boost their channel. I have my fav.s 😬 It took me awhile to do that, because I was worried, but once I did my 1st subscribed I was glad to do it for the ones I like. You Angela are really cool for letting people that like you Steve know you appreciate them. I know your sea travel is soon so wish The Sea be kind to Villa Vie.

You both just make it fun to watch. Angela you are a delight. I really hope the sea travel will be easy going, I know you said it was not your fav thing. I was wondering how the lady with her cat Captain, were doing also. I fixed taco soup in the slow cooker for later and going to message my son, that is one of his fav's. Great tour of Dakar! Looks like there were lots of shopping opportunities. Did you see Goree? Have fun in Cape Verde. No direct flight from the Americas or Europe, CV (I think) is only connected through Accra and Libreville. I think just two round-trip tickets to CV would have cost more than your monthly fee, so you sail 29 days for free. :-)
When you think about sea bands and everybody’s risk is a different size and how are you ever sure you’ve got that little button in the right spot I would never rely on those get seasick all the time. I’m always I just take a half a tablet a day never have any issues I wanna try and then it’s pretty hard to get overseas sickness once you’ve got it.
There are places in Africa I would love to see! I think to be a real world traveller you have to be a little brave but there are places in Senegal you would not want to be and certainly no public gatherings as events in the past have gotten violent! Be vigilant and enjoy your amazing travels. 👍🇨🇦
It was a political problem with the former president, senegalese people elected a new president in March 2024 so the country is completely safe again as usual
Steve, those wristbands don’t do anything! What you need to do is like down flat in your bunk. That way your body is not fighting the gravity as much Keep your eye on the horizon. It keeps your brain grounded Definitely don’t drink coffee on seasick days! Stick with Sprite and saltines. Keep as little food in your stomach as possible, until the seasickness passes. I’m speaking as someone who suffers with seasickness. Who got seasick traveling from Miami to the Caribbean! Also who crossed the North Sea on a ferry with a broken rudder and stabilization they conveniently did not tell us about (From England to Sweden but they detoured to Denmark and then put us on coaches 😭) TBH I can’t even read in a car! So I feel your pain 🫶
@@MidLifeCruising95 Oh right. I forgot that the pool is on the top. Never mind. I wouldn't do that either. I wonder if that only works with a ship that has an indoor pool.
Wow that’s a port I could do without. I can’t deal with the constant haggling which is why I don’t get off in Jamaica anymore. Too aggressive for me. Thanks for sharing your experience and glad you stayed safe.
You guys have probably mentioned this before; but does the ship give suggestions of things to do at the destination, or do you pretty much do your own research. Thank you 😊
@@MidLifeCruising95I don’t get a notification but I also still can’t see my comment, for some reason. But I trust that it is there. I’m glad Steve is handling the Trans Atlantic so well!
On port days, given that guests will be off ship and the issue with afternoon snacks, why dont they run lunch as a la carte, and also then extend the hours. Would solve the no afternoon snacks issue, reduce food waste, the chefs coukd get creative with a local option. Run excursions with the chefs out to local markets, cooking classes etc.
@ thanks for your service and Angela you were a Teacher another tough job. I taught nursing and then 18 years middle school science. Enjoy every minute.
And now we know why some people "abandoned ship" and are meeting up with y'all in the Caribbean to avoid the Trans-Atlantic journey. I wonder if that journey will be a blessing to help you fully adjust. Afterwards you'll be able to handle anything.
Steve, I imagine these aren’t new recommendations to you, but I followed the advice of standing on the boat or the ship where I could focus on the horizon, and that has helped with feelings of seasickness for me. And also for general feelings of nausea, the over-the-counter medication Nauzene has helped me a lot although I haven’t tried it for feelings of seasickness.
Thanks for sharing. Did not see a lot to love about that stop. Reminded me a bit of Ensenada Mexico. Ensenada is probably more affluent and only 70 miles from home. Hopefully you will get to enjoy more experiences in other parts. Walking through markets with merchants pressing for a sale gets old very quickly. I suspect there is more to see and do if you could get out of the city.

Thank you so much for all of your kind words. We really appreciate you. Thanks for subscribing, too.
@@MidLifeCruising95 Morning well afternoon, down in the dumps today. I thank you two for deciding to do your channel and have so many on board with enjoying it also. Have a good rest of the day friend Joyce
How long were you off the ship each day?
It varies...some days all day, some days maybe 3 - 4 hours...
Get the American dollar!!!!! Trinket City
@@pocomokeforester2504 ha ha...
I wonder that the ship does with the leftover food.
Crew eats it?
@@dmang0 I think crew and recycling into other dishes...
@@DLiu-f3w We didn't make it over to the island this time. Glad we are saving money..ha ha
@@sassy81852 all true...we have a resident pro for the band placements. Pills must be taken the night before bed for best outcome they say.
How many different t-shirts does Steve have?
Ha ha...he is all about his t-shirts...
@@MidLifeCruising95 I have a lot of t-shirts as well but they take up a lot of room
There are places in Africa I would love to see! I think to be a real world traveller you have to be a little brave but there are places in Senegal you would not want to be and certainly no public gatherings as events in the past have gotten violent! Be vigilant and enjoy your amazing travels. 👍🇨🇦
Thanks so much!
It was a political problem with the former president, senegalese people elected a new president in March 2024 so the country is completely safe again as usual
@@ibrahima6907 Thanks for sharing!!
Steve, those wristbands don’t do anything! What you need to do is like down flat in your bunk. That way your body is not fighting the gravity as much
Keep your eye on the horizon. It keeps your brain grounded
Definitely don’t drink coffee on seasick days! Stick with Sprite and saltines. Keep as little food in your stomach as possible, until the seasickness passes.
I’m speaking as someone who suffers with seasickness. Who got seasick traveling from Miami to the Caribbean!
Also who crossed the North Sea on a ferry with a broken rudder and stabilization they conveniently did not tell us about (From England to Sweden but they detoured to Denmark and then put us on coaches 😭)
TBH I can’t even read in a car! So I feel your pain 🫶
Thanks so much for the tips!!
I read in the comments of another TH-cam channel that getting into the pool helps with seasickness.
Oh, that us up way too high...he wouldn't dare go up there when he isn't feeling well. Ha
@@MidLifeCruising95 Oh right. I forgot that the pool is on the top. Never mind. I wouldn't do that either. I wonder if that only works with a ship that has an indoor pool.
I still see it!
Wow that’s a port I could do without. I can’t deal with the constant haggling which is why I don’t get off in Jamaica anymore. Too aggressive for me. Thanks for sharing your experience and glad you stayed safe.
@@sicplano Thanks so much. It did get aggressive a few times...
Do you know if that first market is a “wet market”? I’ve heard about them during Covid, but never understood what they truly were.
Not sure about that...
You guys have probably mentioned this before; but does the ship give suggestions of things to do at the destination, or do you pretty much do your own research. Thank you 😊
@@pescaito1684 we do attend port talks...we have someone aboard who leads those...
I know they are just trying to make a living but the vendors make me anxious.
It can get overwhelming at times...
Just watching it made me anxious. I would have gone back to the ship and hid.
Ha ha
Sea bands don’t work for me. I use Bonine because I get seasick easily and it works great!
@@susanwestfall2051 Thanks...good to know..
My comment with sea sickness suggestions disappeared 🙃
Are you sure? I just saw it a few minutes ago when I was looking at follow up questions...
I found it...commented again, not sure if it notifies you or not.
@@MidLifeCruising95I don’t get a notification but I also still can’t see my comment, for some reason. But I trust that it is there. I’m glad Steve is handling the Trans Atlantic so well!
@@CodeDeb he is doing great! Is there a different message other than the one above?
On port days, given that guests will be off ship and the issue with afternoon snacks, why dont they run lunch as a la carte, and also then extend the hours. Would solve the no afternoon snacks issue, reduce food waste, the chefs coukd get creative with a local option. Run excursions with the chefs out to local markets, cooking classes etc.
@@CraigyCraigyIO That would be perfect!!
At the market what were they saying they couldn’t take on ship
I think our friend was saying it because he doesn't have room/space for bigger things...
How long were you in Law Enforcement Steve?
He did his full 25 years - Florida has a high- risk category, so you can retire after 25 yrs. He also did 1 yr for another department...26 total.
@ thanks for your service and Angela you were a Teacher another tough job. I taught nursing and then 18 years middle school science. Enjoy every minute.
U r not allowed to bring produce on r u?
I think the big rule is we can't take it off..most countries don't want us bringing fruit and veg into their country...
Cruisemapper posted moderate seas for your sailing the past few days, not rough waters. This ship rocks too much for someone who gets sea sick.
Hanging in there the best we can...she is a small ship.
And now we know why some people "abandoned ship" and are meeting up with y'all in the Caribbean to avoid the Trans-Atlantic journey.
I wonder if that journey will be a blessing to help you fully adjust. Afterwards you'll be able to handle anything.
Right!!!?!!
I can never do markets. I'm not a haggler and I'd run out of money after 10 minutes. LOL
Ha ha...funny!
@@seabreeze8894 Thanks for the tips!!
I am sure... fun to explore, but the vendors were a bit pushy.
💃🕺🥂🍾
Hey, now watch the video now...ha ha
🤩
Really good you’re truly in your cruise groove now! Best of luck with the Atlantic transit. Hope you get lucky. 🍀
I hope so too! Thank you!
