I know that there are physical ways to train, but my point was that video training on TH-cam is not gonna get you through BUD/s. These videos don't claim to make you a SEAL (a fact that you conveniently left out). The team guys I know (one my baseball coach, another an Academy friend of mine) said that BUD/s makes you ask yourself why you want it. If that's not "psychological rigor" then nothing is.
I don't really see a difference between the two kinds of pull ups?! Anyhow: I thought the physical tests would be tough prior to admission to "hell week" Now I learned from the navy web page that my little sister would pass - well after all she is German :-)
@MMAbadboy i agree, with you. there is not really a better exercise for your legs than squats. most people's problem is that their technique is terrible (knees coming too far forward, coming up on toes, etc..). I am a CSCS, i work with PTs ATs and fitness trainers and they will all say the same. if you have knee problems when doing squats talk with a trainer and learn proper form first
@hollowichi7 don't know if the're bad for you, but i really prefer using the perfect pushup handles for pushups. much more comfortable than regular pushup and you get a better range. they were invented by a navy seal too and no, i dont work for the company; just like em
wow tried doin this workout....you dont realize how weak you get after a while...i used to lay down like 40 or 50 pushups in a min back in highschool now i can barely do like 20 :P
I'm confused, what is the difference between the regular pull-up and the seal pull-up. It just seems like hes doing the seal ones in quicker succession.
2 Questions: a) What diameter rope are you using in this video (2")? b) I have a 3/4" manilla hemp rope that I put up in a tree in the back yard and the rope keeps slipping through my feet. Is this because it is really too thin or I am missing something with the lock technique?? Thanks.
this is nothing every morning when i wake up i benchpress my bed 600 times then do 5, 30 mile sprints and then do 300 squats lifting a full grown black angus steer. then when im done i eat the steer.
is it bad to do more than say... 50 pushups? I heard from someone that anywhere more than a certain amount of reps engages you in aerobics training and causes cortisol and possibly a set of different hormones in your body that prevents you from gaining muscle? is that true?
@hrhadam Do you realy think i would search for rope climbing videos if i haven´t :D. I buyed one a while ago and hung it up at a tree in my garden. And climbing it with the footlock is not as much of a training than doing it just with the arms. Although i can´t do a rope climb and 30 pushups afterwards :D
@playsbba018 Not that I could do that... but you do realise 110 in 2 minutes is a lesser rate than 70 in 1? Maybe you could have done 110 in 2 all along :)
im not going on looks, when hes doing the pull ups it l;ooks like hes having a hard time, I know seals are on a whole different level both phsically and mentally than 95 percent of people in the world, i dont have any illusions or delusion that I am better than a seal
i am well aware that its going to be the hardest thing in my whole entire life ... excuse my spelling ....... and i am not looking for the easy way out ..
Climbing a 20ft rope is not the same as doing 15 pullups. Not even close. Second, doing 250 air squats is going to destroy you if you've never done this. You are better off doing weight lunges. Your hips will thank you.
@DynastyLang But you never operate an m14 whilst quietly ascending from 60 feet underwater after 24 hours of being dehydrated and under miserable conditions. Bearing in mind the tactical assault which you will execute within 15 minutes considering the flanking capabilities of a militia a few yards away. Trying to suppress the idea of having to organize your youngest daughter's bday the next day. Dude, just keep you jock muscles to yourself, nobody here wants to know.
He sure does make that look easy to do.
seal pull ups go up to the chest. reg pull ups only go to just above the chin
It's also called a kip pullup, it's more momentum-based then just the straight up-and-down motion of a normal pull up.
It's not about building muscle or doing "proper" workouts. It's about being able to do the things you might have to do on the battle field.
Good attitude make your dream come true. Thank you for you teaching me. Always success for you friend.
Gonna do this in quarantine
In ALL militaries it is considered good form to keep the head up.
Its funny how they make the instructors look so nice and surfer cool like...Not the case when you get there thats for sure.
that's pretty funny. what are they really like when you get there?
I just realised how useless all other workout, training and weight loss vids on TH-cam are. This is the real deal, You'll FEEL it on Day 1!
5 sets of this are good
OOOOKAY... that's unbelievable... That guy is some mad fitness dude!

Yep. I don't need a leg lock either. Although if we took a bullet to the arm, I'd like to see us climb rope without use of legs..lol
He makes push ups look easy..
@BrandonSaldana Yes he is
I don't really see a difference between the two kinds of pull ups?!
Anyhow: I thought the physical tests would be tough prior to admission to "hell week" Now I learned from the navy web page that my little sister would pass - well after all she is German :-)
@atromos I agree with you. The rope uses mainly your legs with a tiny bit of shoulders, the pull-ups are ALOT harder Haha
Nah, i would prefer the pull ups over the rope climb. i just bought a pull up bar and it helps....
a beach is REQUIRED for this workout
@Odium1002 He's pulling himself higher and he doesnt go so far down as to lock his elbows.
he is at cornado beach in san diego

a seal pull up he doesn't extend all the way down and holds himself from extending all the way down as the regular pull up does
They raise higher. Theres no other difference.
They do in fact use crossfit in the seals I believe!
@snamone you gotta climb a mountain do 300 pushups&200 air squats for one lol
that would take me all day...
Hey, I just saw your comment, it's been 5 years now, how's it going...?
nice, gonna start doing that
@uzack3 They should start a brand new spec ops for you and DynastyLang
wow tried doin this workout....you dont realize how weak you get after a while...i used to lay down like 40 or 50 pushups in a min back in highschool now i can barely do like 20 :P
That's Because You Stopped Practicing!
you do the full range of motion.
thx im only doing navy seal pull ups now =P
Im in the Army and my advice to kids going into any branch in the military is this... Run. Thats all im gonna say. hahaha
the scary part about this work out is that it is "basic 101", if 5 rounds of that are basic then what does advanced look like?
isn't this the same SEAL as in the SOCOM 1 documentary?
I'm confused, what is the difference between the regular pull-up and the seal pull-up. It just seems like hes doing the seal ones in quicker succession.
I don't see what the difference between the SEAL pull up and the gym pull up. Can anyone fill me in?
i dont see a difference between "seal" and normal pull up =S
INCORRECT. You only have to go up until your chin goes over the bar. I have done three PST's already and have my SEAL Contract.
2 Questions:
a) What diameter rope are you using in this video (2")?

=S that is the symbol many pple like to use for the emotion "confused" it stems from other smiley emotions such as =P.
@ThePresident150 It looks like more of a lean-away chin
I agree!
this is nothing every morning when i wake up i benchpress my bed 600 times then do 5, 30 mile sprints and then do 300 squats lifting a full grown black angus steer. then when im done i eat the steer.
Why keep the head up during the pushup? Some would say that's bad form
Lol if I was able to do 5 sets of 15 pullups with short breaks, I wouldn't need training videos from youtube :)
is it bad to do more than say... 50 pushups? I heard from someone that anywhere more than a certain amount of reps engages you in aerobics training and causes cortisol and possibly a set of different hormones in your body that prevents you from gaining muscle? is that true?
i didnt see a difference between a seal pull up and a gym pull up anyone see the difference?
Anyone ever notice guys who mess with weights and all that look like shit half the time but guys who climb ropes are always in great shape?
@DynastyLang I love the 472 earth downs :) LOL
Squats are for ?? Thighs?
i dont need the lock
wtf what´s the point in using the lock while climbing the rope ? -.-
The Seal pullup means you don't go down all the way?
@hrhadam Do you realy think i would search for rope climbing videos if i haven´t :D.

So is there a kind of lift I can do that can prepare me for pullups? I don't have a bar. :(
Dude I fucken saw this guy on socom navy seals when he was younger ! Omg I remebered his face lmfao! Dame that's cool he's cool :)
i dont see the difference between the seal pullups and the regular pullups?
why dont the marines do pullups? they call them pull ups but their actualy chin ups
very true
should i do it fast or slow? because some trainner say do it slow and other say do it fast..
Everybody! Chuck Norris's screen name is uzack3! we found you! What's up Chuck?
@MojaveViper no i can do about 13 pullups, fingers faceing away from the body, :P
@playsbba018 Not that I could do that... but you do realise 110 in 2 minutes is a lesser rate than 70 in 1? Maybe you could have done 110 in 2 all along :)
I nearly puked after finishing this
Why is the camera keep going to the butt?
That's not a workout. That's like a warm-up and a little bit.
it looked like the "seal pullups" were kipping pull ups, nice!
whatever they do in this video is probably 1000x harder for the real thing lol
@Greenmarine6 maybe you did it wrong?
what's the difference between the 2 types of pull-up?
how come ?
are swick esier than seals
solid workout. Wish I had a rope! LOL
im not going on looks, when hes doing the pull ups it l;ooks like hes having a hard time, I know seals are on a whole different level both phsically and mentally than 95 percent of people in the world, i dont have any illusions or delusion that I am better than a seal
Any way to train for a rope climb?
i don't think that short rope equals 15 pull ups.
@animecollector5555 when i was 12 i could do 45 pushups now i cant XD got lazy....
lol
well don't cry about it. man UP!
i dont know if i should say this... but all that global warming is caused from my body warming up.
i am well aware that its going to be the hardest thing in my whole entire life ... excuse my spelling ....... and i am not looking for the easy way out ..
How high is the rope climb?
SEALs have no idea what that is. xP
@JayPull85 jealous?
kipping motion? =S
doesnt look like that guy could get 15 pull up
Climbing a 20ft rope is not the same as doing 15 pullups. Not even close.

Damn I need to get off my fat lazy ass and go grunt it out.

Dude, just keep you jock muscles to yourself, nobody here wants to know.
i just fart..... it feels right.
oky =) will do xD
2:07 halo anyone?
Maybe from basic training but after that you see tonnes of fatbodies who just scrape through their fitness test every year.
Lol maybe the Navy just wants to show off those hot SEAL bodies...
lol
NO!!!
lol @ Top comments
hahahaha
Do you have any knowledge whatsoever about SEALs?
